So when did CNN hire George Lucas as a consultant? The Stedicam motion tracking camera panning around the CG Capitol Building was cool, but Anderson Cooper interviewing Will.I.Am via hologram?!?!?

I was warned about this kind of stuff yesterday by Jack. Part of the reason I ignored the hype on the television last night and was able to sleep peacefully without holographic images in my nightmares.

I ouldn't figure out if they could actually see the images in the studio. They certainly acted like they could.

I'm not sure about that either, Jack. Anderson Cooper didn't react much at the end of the interview, when Will.i.am did a little dance.

TMeeks can probably weigh in on this a bit more, but I'm pretty certain that they couldn't see the "hologram," but I don't see why there couldn't have been another monitor off-camera for him to get some feedback from. Alec Guinness couldn't see Carry Fisher.

Sure he did, but it was superimposed on top of the other live footage. I heard what the reason was once - had something to do with a stagehand labor dispute and not wanting to pay the grips double-scale for O/T, so he got some scabs to rig it up in the middle of the night.

Any actors who work in front of a "green screen" have to act as if they see the actual person there.. that is if a hologram works like a green screen.. a green screen is the blank screen behind the actor that is filmed and then later on when the film is edited and produced, they are able to fill in whatever background they wish. The actors really have to learn how to place their actions in according to what will be shown on the screen, and they have to have a good imagination and a good sense of where things will be. that is, if this is how the hologram works.
The weather man uses a green screen all the time, then you the viewer see the various things happening behind him.. he is pointing to it, but he doens't really see whats there.. they do a very good job of matching things up well.
