The Kingsmen and I are so excited about our song "When God Ran". The song has a special meaning to me as I was a prodigal. I made a lot of bad decisions and wandered away from God. Just like the story in Luke 15 where the "wayward son" returns home, I remembered the love of my Heavenly Father, and before I could get BACK to His loving arms, God RAN OUT TO MEET ME! I am so thankful that God is the healer, comforter and restorer of our souls.

No matter what you have done or where you have been, God is waiting for you to come back HOME.

Do YOU have a "When God Ran" story?

I read Luke 15 last night. I've been a Christian for a while, but some events in my life over the last several months have slowly pulled me away from God. It finally got to the point last night where I fell to my knees and begged the Lord to show me some kind of...something...that I still had worth, that he still wanted me. I pulled out my Bible for the first time in weeks and flipped it open to whatever. It opened to Luke 15. I never fail to tear up when I read verse 24. "For my son was dead and is alive again, was lost but now is found. And they began to be merry."

So it was a good night. :]

And then I got on and saw your post! I guess we can all relate...

Now is this a remake of the Benny Hester song?

Yes. The Kingsmen are introducing it to Southern Gospel, and no offense to Hester or PCD (and yes, I heard both versions when I listened primarily to CCM), but the song has never sounded better.

Thanks so much for your testimony, Bryan. BTW, you do a beautiful job on that song & now I can see it comes from the heart, too. I, too, had wandered far from God for a number of years but praise the Lord, He never gave up on me & now I'm happy to say I'm back in His embrace & that's where I'm staying!

I first heard When God Ran when i saw The Kingsmen in concert at a small church in Jacksonville, FL. (you were on the way to the Suwanee sing the following night). The song touched me. I bought the CD that night. My 9 year old son and I sing it together in the car all the time. Even my wife who is into contemporary (CCM) loves The Kingsmen version. It seems like everyone can relate to the message of When God Ran, no matter how far we have or have not strayed. By the way, you do a GREAT job on that song, bot live and the CD. Now we understand why.

I'm reading a fascinating book on the parable of the prodigal son. It's called "A Tale of Two Sons" by John MacArthur. It's very interesting how the Pharisees interpreted the story, based on the culture at the time, and their legalism. I highly recommend this book.

My wife and I really like "When God Ran"... it is such a wonderful song!

In fact, both of us attempted to sing it at church last night. We didn't do it as good as the Kingsmen, but we wanted to share with the others the blessings of this song.

Thankyou Kingsmen, for bringing this song to sg radio stations!
