Avatar system not working, need tech help. - 10/16/2008 5:11:30 PM

I've tried several times to upload one since my 50th post. It always says " file too large " even though its been shrunk to 9 kb and then 7kb. I was able to load it as my personal photo but says its too large for the avatar. Tech support would be very helpful, thanks in advance.

A photo for an avatar here in the forums cannot be more than 145 pixels (length or width).
HERE is a great and free avatar shrinking website, if you want to try it out.

Thank you blessings. I have tried several times to upload avatars that are smaller than 145 pixels so I guess I'll have to wait until a tech support person reads the thread and offers their assistance. Thanks again!

When you do try to upload the smaller avatars, are you clicking on "OK" or "Apply"? . . . both buttons can be found the bottom of the upload screen.
If you are clicking on "OK" . . . don't do that, click on "Apply" instead (it's a long-standing system glitch).
If you already are clicking on "Apply" . . . then, yes, someone else with more tech-savvy than me will need to help you.
I hope you get it figured out quickly.

Funny thing is, ok will work for some people but not apply, and apply will work for others and not ok. I am one that has to click apply but others have to click ok. Weird glitch indeed.

you were so nice in helping me with my previous avatar issues I had another question. I have tried to upload a pic of my twin baby nieces as my avatar. It says " file too large " and then after shrinking it down to the right size at that avatar shrinking site and then try and upload it I get a " run time service error message " in the box. A friend told me it is probably a problem with cross walk but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

I think that is caused by the site updates, Samson.

Thank you Ps103. Yes it is something on the CW end. I even tried to upload an avatar that I previously had on here and when I clicked OK it said " file too large"

Good to know I am not the only one having this issue. I have tried to load jpg files that have been shrunk to the correct dimensions and are less than 10KB and get the "File is too large" error too.
