I've always wondered what couples do in the morning to avoid inflicting rancid breath on each other? How long did it take to get to a point where you don't notice anymore?

You never not notice. Just get up, brush/mouthwash and sneek back into bed. Makes for a nice surprise.

The smell of garlic comes through the pores in the skin, too. I had a student who smelled of garlic often. Sweet kid with a not-so-sweet smell, even though she was always clean. We don't do much face to face in the morning before coffee, but I do insist on toothbrushes before going to bed. Both of us need it to be kissable, and to keep our teeth healthy.

Morning breath will always be there and you never get used to it. You get used to not kissing until teeth have been brushed.

Just good dental hygiene... it's not a bad habit to get into.

I've always wondered what couples do in the morning to avoid inflicting rancid breath on each other? We don't get in each other's faces until we brush our teeth. That would just be plain rude. If we really just want to lay there and cuddle or talk, then we have mints we keep in the night stand. But no kissing until teeth are brushed! quote:
How long did it take to get to a point where you don't notice anymore? I don't think anyone gets to the point of "not noticing". It's not something you one day just can't smell anymore! If someone gets in your face with morning breath, you're gonna notice!

umm...well, my husband feels a little offended that i don't want to kiss him first thing after we're both awake! i try to do the quickest little peck this side of heaven, but that doesn't appease him. seems he thinks married couples are just not supposed to mind that kind of stuff because we're one now. i know love endures all things, but geez....!

I read an article on "morning breath" in the Washington Post several years ago. It seem that there are digestive processes that take place on the tongue which leave a sulfur residue, which is the root cause of morning breath. Not plaque, not forgetting to floss or any lack of hygenic practice. French lovers would keep an apple beside the bed (a fresh one each night!) to share just a bite when they awoke. This cleanses the palette (the tongue) and quickly nuetralizes the breath. Bon Appetit!
