For those of y'all who are out and about on the day after Thanksgiving, are grocery stores generally busy and crowded during that day?

I'm sure hoping not; I need to get some spices for a soup that I'm making for a friend, and I absolutely abhor crowded grocery stores.

Not that it would make any difference, because I really need to go . . . and I'm sure not going tomorrow; and Saturday will be too late.

But, it would be nice to be "mentally-prepared" for the throngs, if there are going to, indeed, be throngs . . . or even hordes.

No, the crowds at the stores are biggest in the a.m. People get tired and the rush ends by lunchtime and most people eat fast food or go out to eat.

The grocery stores are crowded mostly on the weekend before Thanksgiving and they'll be a few people shopping tomorrow for last minute things.

So far, it's 2 for 2 in that the stores aren't on Friday. That's very good to hear!

I went went a friend yesterday; and it was a madhouse . . . and I forgot the spices I need.

Typically it's the day BEFORE Thanksgiving that's crazy for grocery stores.

Friday is moreoreless normal for them.

Oh hush.

Besides, I was Smith's yesterday afternoon, and the parking lot was full; and inside, I think there must have been 3 or more people for every vehicle out in the parking lot.

It was a mad house.

So. There.
Ha!

Oh. Well you were at Smith's. That explains it. Now if'n you were at a WalMart or sumtin then the crowds wouldn't be there. You gotta dress up for that y'know...

I don't remember who, but I retold that story to someone the other day. They thought it was pretty amusing also.

I'll forgive your, uhm, language in this thread. AND your intentional ignoring that one of my blessings about living in Jackson is that there isn't such a store within a 2-hour drive. Because, the laugh at remembering that specific story is well worth it.

Sharon-Marie I don't know about Jackson, but here in the Roanoke area the grocery stores are never busy on Black Friday. I think it is because people are eating on all of the left-overs. Now the Sunday after that they get busy usually. I guess people run out of left-overs to eat so they have to buy more.

Well, we do put on the duds and get ourselves to that Wal**** place. It's my week to do the shopping and I'm dreading it. They's gonna be PACKED!

Wonder if a jacket and tie will do, or if'n I need to rent a tux...

Thank you, Ruth!

You as well! Happy Thanksgiving.

And that goes for the rest of y'all as well.

Boyz, boyz, boyz . . . don't argue; just get to scrubbing that crusty stuff off of the back of your ears.
