Let me first say that I do not ask this question to be judgemental or arguementative. I only ask out of curiosity of how other Christians believe and whether it is different than the answer I have come to myself. What reason do we have to believe the God that created existance is the same God that is referenced in the Bible? Meaning, what proof is there that the force that caused the universe came from the God as described in the Bible other than the book itself? Again, I am not asking this as a skeptic, but a christian seeking direction.

It has again and again been held up by outside historical, archaeological evidence. Also, there's the unique nature of Christian morality and ethics which we can see permeating the cultures around the world. Other religions, in my study, are either too permissive or too restrictive of the basic human conscience - one that hasn't been brainwashed to one or the other extreme by its upbringing and education. Finally, there is the dramatic impact that Christ has in people's lives. I've heard of people being converted to other religions - sometimes in huge crowds - but I've never heard of them making positive changes, flooding their lives with love and joy. That is something I have only heard from Christ.

To: rma001, One simple question to assist you with your question. Have you sincerely read the Bible through and through with spiritual understanding...meaning Genesis through Revelation? If you haven't done this like many, there is no way that you will be able to see any connection. I applaud you for your interest in seeking the truth and as you seek prayfully and live the life of a true Christian...you will be given your answer if your heart is the right parameters with GOD. As I speak to you, I speak to myself for I have to stay inline and stay focus as well for it is a chore at times for me. I am in constant battle with the flesh of past situations and I am seeking to allow the spirit of GOD to heal me as I put the love of GOD in action as living as a witness. Blessing to you

Jehovah's word is evidence enough('believe it or not'); there's no hint or attempt to 'prove' His self existence. “[Jesus] proved He had a valid claim [to His Deity] but His own rejected His claim yet as many as receives His message; to them he claimed the right to become redeemed of God and appropriate His Name.“ John 1:11,12

If you will permit me to push the analogy, the foundation of the bridge is faith, for unless someone puts ones full weight on a bridge on can not be sure of its soundness. That said, C. S. Lewis provides a fairly simple logical connection between the Creator and the Scriptures in "Mere Christianity". If you want more academic treatises you might try Francis Schafer's "The God Who Is There" and "He Is There and He Is Not Silent". The logical argument is too important to explain in one or two posts since the pit it crosses is so dangerous. One must be careful with every step.
