It seems to me that the price the Church has paid for having tax exempt status is to steep. Basically the government has bought our silence, and this is wrong. The prophets were persecuted to declaring messages that were that were not politcally correct.
The Church should be teaching and setting the example on applying the wisdom of God in all realms of life, and that includes how to vote for elected officials.
The Constitution states that Congress may enact no law that endorses the free practise of religion, or prohibits the free practise there of. Any policy that who prohibit the Church from speaking at all violates the constitutional principle.
Tax-excempt status given to Churches has never been challenged in the courts, and I believe if it would be it would declared unconstitutional. If this were to happen many Churches and ministies would become bankrupt overnight and be force to shut thier doors.
Tax excempt status is actually putting the Church at risk.
For the people of God it is better that we follow the example of our Lord and give onto Ceasar the taxes that belong to Ceasar, and give to God the service that belongs to God.

The church has and does tell us what kind of person to vote for. The Bible is chock full of examples of leaders in good and bad behaviors. We have to listen and discern for ourselves who that person actually is in the right here and now.

If churches are allowed to endorse actual people in their proper names, then we are just asking the government to come in and regulate us further.

Now that would be a good way to silence the church!

I honestly do not think it is necessary to name 'Names" which is what is forbidden.

I teach on Biblical principals, and many times relate that to curent issues. If someone is so dense that they do not know which candidate is backiong what principle; I figure they would forget what who I recommemded before they got out of the door anyway.

Thanks
RC
