Does God have a sense of humour?

I know I have. And I'm told I'm created in His image.

Because if He hasn't ... I'm doomed ... doomed ... I tell you !!!

Well of course He does, look at some of His creation . Also look at Isaiah 1:2-3 (focus on verse 3). He is pretty much comparing Israel with a donkey and an ox.

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth!
For the LORD has spoken:

“ I have nourished and brought up children,
And they have rebelled against Me;
3 The ox knows its owner
And the donkey its master’s crib;
But Israel does not know,
My people do not consider.”

LOL Yeah, He's got a sense of humor. How else could we have it? And look at us! And look at Scripture - the idea of getting the log out of our own eye before removing the splinter in our neighbor's eye is pretty funny (I understand that the Africans think this is a hoot. I'd never thought about it before that, but yeah, it's a hoot).

Yes He does!

Sometimes He has to wait a while before I get His jokes.

He meets us where we are. When we see humor(or irony)in even the darkest moon a flash conscience accompanies it. 'Whenever dark tunnel we may be called upon to travel through God has been there. Whatever deep waters seem to drown us He has traversed. Faith isn't merely "feeling good about God" but a conscious choice even in the utter absence of feelings or external encouragements; to obey His Word when He says, "Just, trust me."' (On Asking God Why -Elisabeth Elliot-)

I have come to realize that God adores irony.

My testimony is a point of this. I was brought to church and the eventual bible study where I first gave my life to the Lord by Rocky Horror Picture Show

Can you imagine the opposite?

A serious dour Jesus.

I can see Jesus doing stand-up....John, Peter and James walked into a bar.....

How ironic I was just thinking about posting about this yesterday, Gods Humor.

I didn't think about it at the time when it happened but yesterday when I remembered the prior days event it made me laugh out loud because I thought of the irony of it all.

Most everyday when I'm thinking about things in my life I will have a conversation with our Lord within myself. Sometimes I ask him questions about things or will make comments to him about different things going on in my lil'world. Sometimes I think back about things and will realize, "Hey, I think he was trying to tell me something there!" I don't know about anyone else but usually at these moments I will have a confirmation from him that says, "Yes Dustin, that is what I was trying to get across to you!". Most of the time something willl happen along the lines of either opening my bible and 'just happening' to find a verse that confirms it, seeing something in the world that ironically matches the message, or haveing something happen to me that confirms I got the message right.

Two days ago I had remembered seeing something when I was over at someones house sitting on the table and it really stood out to me as being out of place. Then I thought about circumstances I was over at this persons house for. It really bothered me so I pondered it for a second, then I asked God about it. I won't go into detail about what it was exactly but I caught it. So, prior to me thinking about all this I had gone into the bathroom to put my contacts in and had left the lone shower light and bathroom fan on in the bathroom because I was going to go back in and take a shower after I got my towel. While walking back to my room I pondered about what I already mentioned. As I walked back into the bathroom I noticed the light had gone out above the shower but the fan was still running. I played with the switch a second to see if had burned out or not and couldn't get it to come back on so I just left it on. The light was coming through the window so I refrained from turning the main bathroom lights on an just relied on the natural lighting. As I was taking a shower I thought about everything again. Then it came to me, my answer. You know, I think he was trying to tell me not to do what I was planning on doing. At that very second the lone shower light came on above my head!!! Some may find that pure coincidence but I feel that is him reaffirming what I was thinking his message was.

He's got a sense of humor alright

You bet He does! When I was pregant with my first, I was told I was having a boy. They did tests and without a doubt, it was indeed a boy. So we got the nursery done up in blue, got the invites ready with Benjamins name on them. When he was born the doctor announced, "you have a girl!". We both asked togeather "we have a what!!!"
Jeannine is now going off to college in a couple of weeks and yes, her favorite color is blue!

If you don't believe God has a sense of humor, then you've never lived in up here in North Dakota. When God makes a place that can go from 101 degrees and 100% humidity in the summer to -25 and a -60 windchill in the winter and STILL have people convinced to live there year round is funny no matter how you look at it.

Seriously, I think His sense of humor is pretty twisted, at times, but I am sure that He has one.

I certainly hope so because if some of the things that happen in my life don't at some point become comical...I think I'll be wrecked.

God does have a sense of humor. No doubt in my mind.

I sometimes make God laugh by telling Him all my plans !!!

Then when He's stopped laughing He advises me what to do.

That's a cute and funny anecdote. I am glad you did not lose your joy! Bless you!

Between things like the platypus and what I've learned studying quantum physics and relativity, I would say that not only does God have a sense of humor, but He is also a bit of a practical joker ("Hey, I know, I'll make light act like both a wave AND a particle, that will really cook their noodles!").

Isaiah 28:9-11 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

9Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

From the best of my understanding. . . this is essentially God mocking the babbling of drunk people.

Sounds pretty humorous to me.
