Can anyone recommend a good exercise DVD for women? I'd like to have one for when the weather isn't good for walking, and to have something different to break that up. I'd like somehting that isn't ridiculously complicated, and combines cardio with some strength training. I have a couple of interval training DVDs, but they are seriously outdated and just bore me now. I'm in better cardio shape than strength training shape, if that matters. I haven't had the weights out or done any other strength training in well over a year

You should rent a few first. Try the FIRM series or Billy Blanks boot camp, it comes with resistance bands and you can order heavier ones.

I am going to rent them first, just to be sure I'll like them. I just needed some suggestions where to begin.

I LOVE walking to Leslie Sansone's DVDs. She has an awesome thing going. The first one I ever bought was "Walk the Walk." This is a one or two mile program. She uses hymns for the background music: "In The Garden", etc. Very inspirational!! I also have her "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD. This one has 5 different choices: 2 one mile and 2 two mile ones and one Walk and Kick selection. I know there are other good programs out there; this one really works for me.

I love Mina Lessig's Optimizer. It has two workouts on it. The first is a cardio/ strength training interval workout. The second is a strength and flexibility. What I really love about the workout is I think it can be used from novice on up. The moves are not difficult but the more you put into it the more you get out of it. I used it after a c-section and it was a great workout. I used it later, and I work out alot, and it was still a great workout. Also, it doesn't require any weights or bands for the workout. I hope you find a workout you can use. Karen

Thanks, Karen...I'll check into that one too. I'm hoping to find a few to get so I can mix them up a little. I stick with a routine much better if I can do it from home rather than leaving my house.

Considering I've managed to break toes and an ankle while wearing perfectly good workout shoes in the past, I suppose I'll take your advice and not attempt it in heels. I may lose a limb!

I love Sharon Mann's workout DVDs, as each DVD offers a great variety of workouts, that you can mix them up to create a different set of programs each time.
