Just wondering what people thought of McCain's appearance on Jay Leno tonight (11/11/08).

I thought he displayed his excellent sense of humor as usual, and I was actually on the verge of tears twice: once when he recognized the Marines in the audience (you know none of them voted for 'Bama) and then again realizing how honorable and decent of a man the American people rejected in favor of the radical, shady, immoral, socialist Barack 0bama.

May God have (more) mercy on the USA.

Ok, I posted too soon. I actually cried when McCain told the story of Mike Christian. Christian sewed an American flag on the inside of his shirt, and the POWs who were in the 20 man cell all said the Pledge of Allegiance every evening. The Vietnamese captors caught this, pulled out Christian and beat him for hours, and then threw him back into the cell. McCain and the others cleaned him up as best they could, and with eyes swollen shut from the beating, Mike Christian began sewing another American flag.

For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am ashamed of my country. Shame on you America, for choosing a radical anti-American socialist over a real American hero.

Care to explain this a bit more? What has Obama said that makes you think he's a socialist?

Please don't do that when I'm taking a drink of coffee.

You've got to be kidding. How about this: You demonstrate to ME how 0bama does not have a socialistic worldview. I will eat one of my cat's hairballs if you can do that truthfully with fact.

You will need to me how 0bama:

Does NOT promote class envy
Does NOT believe larger government is the answer to the woes of society
Does NOT desire to redistribute income
Does NOT think the constitution is flawed

Here are some dictionary definitions of socialism, you go ahead and tell me how these don't fit 0bama's philosophy:

- The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

- (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

- an economic system based on state ownership of capital [ant: capitalism]

- An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity. There are many varieties of socialism. Some socialists tolerate capitalism, as long as the government maintains the dominant influence over the economy; others insist on an abolition of private enterprise. All communists are socialists, but not all socialists are communists.

Not my job. Extraordinary claims (the president is a commie) require extraordinary proof. EStan is right on this one; it nearly made me spit out my coffee, too.

Are you privy to some conspiracy on the part of the Democrats that I'm not privy to? Please explain how Obama is more socialist than, say, Truman?

I think Estan choked because he couldn't believe that you would be able to ask with a straight face how Obama is a socialist....

You are obviously an Obamaton, so I am not going to even bother describing to you his radical socialist philosophies.

The offer for you to falsify this is still open.

Am I the only one who thinks it odd that people are accusing the president-elect of being a commie? Maybe we should set up a House Committee to investigate these un-American activities...

Actually, I voted for the Libertarian, but Obama was my second choice.

Uhh, the burden of proof is on you. I'm not the one who's claiming socialist conspiracy, here.

You may very well be the only one that's doesn't recognize Obama's real color.

The Socialists have been in the Dem. party for decades and they is all white.
The Repubs. aren't far behind them. that's why the GOP needs a complete reform.

No. You're not the only one on here who thinks these accusations are really strange. It never ceases to amaze me what the folks will come up with next. It's like watching a train wreck and I can't look away.

I guess when some people only get their news from the mainstream liberal Obama media... then they will not be informed and will be ignorant to the facts behind Obama's doctrines.

He was always honorable and humorous.... to me, this was the same John I saw out on the campaign trail. Seeing him without media commentary reveals a pretty good guy.

I can't speak for anyone else, but although I support Obama I've never been anti-John McCain. He seems to me to be a decent, articulate, and honest man. I thought his concession speech was outstanding. Hopefully he continues on in his political career and continues to influence America for the better.

Agreed... as long as that means he abandons his "reaching across the aisle" Democrat-lite ways and comes back home to real conservatism

Shame on you America, for choosing a radical anti-American socialist over a real American hero.

Care to explain this a bit more? What has Obama said that makes you think he's a socialist?

And how is he immoral? He has been married to the same woman and is a loving husband and father. He hasn't cheated on his wife, either. McCain cheated on his first wife after meeting Cindy in a bar, had an affair that lasted several years, and then abandoned his wife to marry Cindy. You know full well that if Obama had done that you'd be howling mad and calling him an adulterer of the worst sort. And if Michelle Obama had done what Cindy McCain did- using her position as the head of her own philanthropic organization to obtain prescription painkillers illegally to feed her addiction, you'd be howling about that too.

Let's use the same standard here- don't give free pass or excuse that in one which would be roundly condemned in another.

I have some concerns about Obama's policies and I had concerns about McCain's too. I try to look at people fairly and look at the issues from all possible angles and in the light of all available information while keeping an open mind as there might be something that comes to light which would change everything. When I consider a candidate or issue I try to consider the effect on everyone, not just me or my family or community. I do not vote by party and do not belong to any political party, so that's not even a consideration when I choose a candidate to vote for or how I will vote on an issue. I am willing to give the man the benefit of the doubt and maintain watch as his administration proceeds.

PHW:

I guess this goes back to the same thing it always does with Obama when the issue of morality comes up: he has personally tried via his power and influence in the government to make it easier and more acceptable to murder the unborn, to make it easier and more acceptable to practice homosexuality, and wishes to punish hard working folks by taking their wages and giving it to people who didn't work for it. He has disdain for the Constitution, which it is now his job to defend and uphold, which is a bit hypocritical at the least.

Also, I would like to say that you surprise me by harping on McCain's adultery. A dishonorable thing that happened THREE DECADES AGO and for which he has repeatedly apologized for and repented from. He has been married now for almost longer than I have been alive, does that earn him points in your book?

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the three decades ago bandwagon. Not when he was romantically linked with a lobbyist as late as last February.

Jiminy Cricket. You drive me up a wall. Any other falsified gossip or slander you would like to add to the conversation? Or did you get it all out of your system with this one?

Again, someone shows Obama holding a Sequoia tree, and some liberal whack-a-mole comes back crying about McCain holding a toothpick.

I call toothpick shenanigans.
