Im shure this happens to a lot of christians but sometimes i question whether i am truly going to heaven or not . i have confessed myself to the lord about all my sins and everything but every once in a while i question myself . I start asking why i believe in god and a bunch of questions that i dont have the answer to . And the more i think about it a true christian who has truly have the holy spirit would nto ask these type of questions . So do you think maybe i should do the sinners prayer again? just looking for some advice

Zack, rest assured that it is the devil's scheme to steal your joy and distract you from your relationship with Jesus. He wants nothing better than for you to doubt, even your salvation. If he can keep you doubting he has your attention, and if you are distracted by worrying and wondering than how is God being glorified in that?

This is not unusual. I've known the Lord for 24 years and there are still questions I have trouble answering. But as I continue to grow in the LORD, he gives me wisdom and guidance through the power of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it amazes me how I can know things, that I didn't think I knew. I accredit this to the Spirit of God who speaks on my behalf when he wants me to share the gospel with others.
And the more i think about it a true christian who has truly have the Holy Spirit would not ask these type of questions .
Longing for Jesus, can spur on a thoughts of "am I sure, I'm saved." Again the devil is deceiving you. He wants you to feel unworthy of your gift of salvation. And feed you lies to cause doubt. That's why God tells us to put on the full armour of God so we can fight off the devils schemes. If we are watching out, being alert for the devil to taunt us with doubt, than we will be ready to rebuke the enemy with the word of God...and he will flee.
If you have prayed sincerely with a repetitive heart, admitting you are a sinner in need of Jesus forgiveness. And you accept what he did, dying for all our sins, receiving and believing Jesus is Lord than you are saved. Your assurance of salvation comes from the word of God, and the work of the Holy Spirit living in you. Only Born again believers are going to heaven.
Zack, I've read many of your posts and from what I've read you have a desire for a close relationship with the Lord. So that said, this is evidence he is in you and transforming your mind to do his will according to his purpose.

Why not ask God to help your unbelief? Be upfront with him about your doubting what he has done, already. Accept his forgiveness and honor him with your praise for what he's is doing in your life.

When I was a new Christian I was so excited about my new relationship and all that God was teaching me. I wanted to share my new discoveries. I have a Christian friend that I would call on the phone and we would talk about all that I was learning and experiencing. She was very encouraging to me. Often she would help me if I was puzzled over something. The problem was that as soon as I would share what God was doing in my life, I would "hear" these words in my mind say "Who do you think you are? Nobody wants to hear what you have to say."
I knew those were not the words of God! I persevered through the negative thoughts and kept sharing God with my friend and others. I don't even notice those negative words anymore.
You are a new Christian aren't you? You're experiencing what a lot of us as Christians have experienced in one way or the other. The other area that I would experience troubling thoughts was in the form of nightmares. I couldn't remember the dreams, but they felt evil and frightening. I determined that God was preventing me from remembering the content of the dreams for some reason or other but I still had the fear attached to them. After asking a lot of people about my problem another Christian friend suggested I pray that God remove the nightmares. Why hadn't I thought of that? Actually, my thought process was that I falsly believed that as a Christian, God would prevent me from having evil dreams! I prayed for God to take the nightmares away and for the most part He has. I've had a couple since that prayer, but not like I used to have.
Pray that God take away the troubling thoughts of your not being saved. Rest in the truth that Jesus lived the perfect life you can not live. Jesus suffered and died to pay for your sins--the debt you could not pay. You have nothing to fear. Jesus has done it all. Trust God! And send the evil one packing when he tells you otherwise!

Wouldn't hurt, I suppose!
The previous two ppl already said enough - to which I agree. But I will add - to always keep God and His promises in mind - and especially keep humbling yourself b4 God.
Jesus did!
