How many of you guys and gails have felt the presence of God? And know what it feels like?

P:

We need to follow the leading of the Spirit, who witnesses with our spirit that we are the sons of God, as Romans 8 says. We need to testify to the presence of God, as the Word of God shows.

Yep. totally agree. I learned something interesting today though. The presence of God is His glory and glory in that sense in the Hebrew Greek means "a weight." So I was just curious if anyone has felt that weight because I know I have...

P: The SHEKINAH glory in the Old Testament makes a good study, as well.

If you look at the Tabernacle and the presence of the Lord, how it came down, then compare it to the indwelling of the Spirit in those who are born again, then we see how the New Covenant as described in Hebrews is so perfect and better, compared to the Old.

It's always good to look at themes in the Old Testament - glory, the presence of God - in the light of the New Testament and the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As a former worship leader for 11 years (and still occasionally fill in) sensing the presence of God's Holy Spirit is a very normal and necessary thing.

However I never felt HIM any stronger (and believe me I have been in some pretty awesom and powerful meetings) than on Aug 17 1984 at about 8 am. It was a friday and I was on my way to work and just before 7 am I got t-boned less than a block from work (and just around the corner from my in-laws. I woke up in the ambulance and before I even opened my eyes, the presence of God was so strong that even if I was not near death, I could not have moved from where I was laying.

Needless to say, God worked a miracle and I was out of the hospital in 8 days, and back to work in just over a month. By rights, I should not have even lived out the day. HE sustained me.

Thou wilt make known to me the path of life;
In Thy presence is fulness of joy;
In Thy right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm 16:11

Yes. His word is true. In His presence there is joy to the fullest and pleasures forever. He is the place of perfect peace and ultimate restfulness, soul stillness and settledness. If you seek Him, He will be found. LL
