As you already know, there are a lot of biblical rumors about Adam having a first wife, Lillith. She was kicked out of the garden of Eden because she would'nt admit Adam dominated over her, which sounds like a rumor that somebody created to turn people against Christianity. The Bible I usually refer to is NKJ, so I;'m sure it's not in there, but do you know if there is any kind of scripture in a Catholic, New World Translations (JW), or any other kind of "bible" that refers to Lillith?

None that I'm aware of, but then, I haven't read the deuterocanonical literature. I doubt if it'd be in the JW "bible", but again, haven't read it. I've actually wondered the same thing in the past, so, good question!

The Book of Isaiah 34:14(in some quarters)describing the desolation of Edom is the only occurrence of Lilith in the Hebrew Bible, 'Wildcats shall meet with hyenas, goat-demons shall call to each other; there too Lilith shall repose, and find a place to rest.' The first medieval source to depict Adam and Lilith in full was the Midrash Abkier(poem/chant)(ca. 10th century). In another version of the myth of Lilith, she was Adam's first wife before Eve. Adam married her because he became tired of coupling with animals, a common Middle-Eastern herdsmen practice, though the Old Testament declared it a sin (Deuteronomy 27:21). Adam tried to make Lilith lie with him but she wouldn't meet this demand of male dominance....These beliefs continued for centuries. As late as the 18th century, it was a common practice in many cultures to protect new mothers and their infants with amulets against Lilith. Males were most vulnerable during the first week of life, girls during the first three weeks. Sometimes a magic circle was drawn around the lying-in-bed, with a charm inscribed with the names of the three angels, Adam and Eve and the words "barring Lilith" or "protect this newborn child from all harm." Frequently amulets were place in the four corners and throughout the bedchamber. If a child laughed while sleeping, it was taken as a sign that Lilith was present. Tapping the child on the nose, it was believed, made her go away.

Isaiah 34:14 contains the Hebrew word "lilith", which seems to have been borrowed from the name of an Assyrian female demon. It is difficult to determine what it means in Isaiah. Some Bibles translate is as a species of bird, others as a kind of demon or vampire. The story of Lilith as the first wife of Adam comes from later Jewish mythology, not the Bible.

Actually the Lillith myth dates back to the intertestamental period, before NT times. Many scholars think it was made up to get women to submit to their husbands and not be like the Greeks who were very independant. She was said to be the mother of the demons.

New to this and can't get the image of Lilith 4000 years ago to post. How do you post images here? I put the photo-bucket image in between the [image] boxes but it won't post the image.

yeah as far as I know Lillth is mentioned in Isaiah not sure about anywhere else. So if you take in that fact you have to assume that whoever lillth is she's real. Now I don't know where the idea that she was adam's first wife came from or what ancient texts might indicate it but I have heard about it, mostly on the history channel back in the days. Also in the Zohar (jewish mystical kabbalah teaching on the bible) Lillth is mentioned a few times, I think she is reffered to as the mother of all demons and satans wife. I may be remembering incorrectly here, if I am I'm sorry, but I think the Zohar kind of confirms the idea of lillth being adams first wife and that she wouldn't submit to him so she was kicked out of the garden afterwards she was taken by satan to be his wife and became the mother of all demons. As far as I can figure adam originally like the angels and God possesed both masculine and femmine sides in one, i.e. human, but masculine dominating making him male just as God is masculine the Father, but lillth (i'm guessing) was like adam in that she possessed both masculine and femmine sides in one but instead of being male and masculine dominated she was female and feminine dominated, the two didn't mix and lillth was sent off. But it's all just speculation, as far as I know there aren't any ancient hebrew texts describing these events it's just hear say. But Isaiah does show that she's real so who knows.....

Check the story of Gilgamesh, which shares common stories with the Bible.
Lillith is one of the mythological figures:
