Gerald, Appreciate the link. All the obvious limitations of the radio show and callers/hosts debate format aside - it wasn't bad. A bit too "Riders Digest"-ish for me, for I actually expected it to be more theological(deeper) and less generic. You are clearly not a dimwit, I think you handled the questions quite well, demonstrated wit and presented coherent, logical arguments , also you seem to be pretty smart. I give your presentation a firm B. Maybe even B + , but you ought to promise to work on your diction, debate techniques, your voice is a bit too monotonous, you ought to cut down on preacher-ese, vagueness, occasional plentiful rhetoric ,unnesessary pauses and tempo. Don't let your audience fall asleep or lose interest. We have politicians for that If you wish to debate any Catholic issues, may I suggest you look into the One Stop Catholic threads and choose the topic of interest.

Thanks for your comments Odeliya. Yes I have things to work on. That was my first shot at a radio debate. I do wish it had gone deeper as well but he refused to bite on the Romans 2:4-8 and Matt 25 stuff and just choose to paint an image of Catholics trying to work toward God, separating them from any faith. It is sad the prejudice that he seeks to perpetuate. God bless

Well, that is what i meant by radio format, it is pop-culture so to speak, they have to keep the public interested, would be hard to go deep theology in that environment. I am not C but have some wonderful Catholic friends and love reading catholic resourses. It is always interesting to have a respectful (to our differences in theology )debate and i never come out of debate with sane, polite catholics unenlightened, its always beneficial. Yes, in all honestly and fairness i admit there are lots of tales about CC that are not true, but considered common knowledge. Mostly because you, C brethren, have and had a ton of worthless garbage passed for Popes, Priests, etc thru the history. I try to get away from judging the church by its members and bosses. Humans shortcomings will always cast a negative shadow on the best christian denominations :) I do believe actual debate on Catholic issues has to be done in respective threads though

ORIGINAL: Geraldh Thanks for your kind remarks. Hope to see you in other threads. Appreciate the invitation, my friend, but my days of debating with Catholics are over. CC is a good denomination, it has equal rights and as evidence shows there are many wonderful catholics around. If it works for them, great. We disagree on theology, naturally, but so what. What is more important to God is if we show the fruit of the Spirit in our life, how we love God and our brethren. Outward traditions vary, and i am confident that bad, nasty, mean, venomous, pharisee, "religiounista" type practicing Catholic (Protestant) is not pleasing to God, regardless what church and denom he belongs to. Kind, faithful, longsuffering, patient, loving, godly, posessing self-control and good will towards men, gentle Catholic or Protestant is pleasing to God, regardless the church or denom he belongs to. I love reading the lives of Saints or about decent Popes and some early church fathers. There are a lot of wisdom in those. I understand that yours and mine definitions of "CHURCH"are different, and i choose to respect that. But again, I have no family members that are catholics. To me it's not the painful personal issue : )
