My wife's grandpa is dying - 11/28/2008 9:17:08 AM

About three days ago, we learned that my wife's grandfather was being visted by the local Hospice chapter. His condition in the nursing home he's living in has been deteriorating gradually over the past month. Yesterday, she received a phone call. My father and mother-in-law said that he isn't doing really well. They've been giving him morphine under the tongue and his limbs are discolored. My in-laws figure that he doesn't have much time left.
At the risk of sounding cold, I'd like to say that this isn't a bad thing. Ed (my wife's grandpa) is 93 and has lived a full life. He as been suffering from severe dementia for a couple years, and has seen two wives pass away before him. While everyone is sad to see this happening to him, it has been expected for a while.
For Ed, please pray that the Lord is merciful to him during his final hours, and if it is time, that God takes Him home to his wonderful kingdom.

I just got a phone call from my wife. Her grandfather passed away about an hour ago. His suffering is finally over. May God bless him as he enters our Lord's glorious kingdom of Heaven.

Lord I lift up Eds family to you and ask that you give them comfort.
Bless them Lord as they make preparations and decisions
Help them Lord as they grieve their loved one
Thank you Lord for Eds life and thank you he is no longer suffering in this world.
Bless this family as they go through the process of saying good byes
Help each family member according to their own needs
Thank you Lord for your compassion,love and grace
