How do you know if your prayers are being heard by God. I have given my life over to Christ for about 6 months now and I am still struggling with my old life that keeps trying to get in. I have eliminated three main things that keep returning I have two old past things that I need to work it out and get rid it . I have prayed that God helps me through this and I know he knows every hair on my head. But this was a dark past in my life and I do not know if God will help me with this. I had major surgery and I got dependent on pain medicine. I was depressed and withdrawn from my family. This has been a hard time for my wife and my kids. My kids are on there own and married and they have been a big help. Now that I have received Christ it has opened my eyes and I have feelings I have never experienced. I now now what true love is and repentance is. The feelings hit me hard at times and sometimes just looking at my dogs playing in the back yard and the tears of joy start running. Something so small can get your attention. I guess I found something very very good and I don"t want to blow it. Now that I am saved this is the first that I have preyed . I am talking about praying with you feelings and total commitment. Not just saying or reading. Get on your knees and pray!

I am talking about praying with you feelings and total commitment. Not just saying or reading. Get on your knees and pray! I understand completely what your going through, and remember this, He understands more than anyone ever will. You ask, How do you know your prayers are being heard by God? I know because He tells me, if you will go to the Word of God, and go to Psalm 4:3 It says this, "KNOW THAT THE LORD HAS SET APART THE GODLY FOR HIMSELF: THE LORD WILL HEAR WHEN I CALL TO HIM." In the footnotes, of a Study Application Bible, it will go into further detail about this verse, if you dont have one, I encourage you to egt one, I LOVE MINE! The footnotes says this, "THE GODLY ARE THOSE WHO ARE FAITHFUL AND DEVOTED TO GOD. DAVID KNEW THAT GOD WOULD HEAR HIM WHEN HE CALLED AND WOULD ANSWER HIM. WE TOO CAN BE CONFIDENT THAT GOD LISTENS TO OUR PRAYERS AND ANSWERS WHEN WE CALL ON HIM. SOMETIMES WE THINK THAT GOD WILL NOT HEAR US BECAUSE WE HAVE FALLEN SHORT OF HIS STANDARDS FOR HOLY LIVING. BUT IF WE HAVE TRUSTED CHRIST FOR SALVATION, GOD HAS FORGIVEN US, AND HE WILL LISTEN TO US. WHEN YOU FEEL AS THOUGH YOUR PRAYERS ARE BOUNCING OFF THE CEILING, REMEMBER AS A BELIEVER YOU HAVE BEEN SET APART BY GOD AND THAT HE LOVES YOU. HE HEARS AND ANSWERS, ALTHOUGH HIS ANSWERS MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU EXPECT. LOOK AT YOUR PROBLEMS IN THE LIGHT OF GOD'S POWER INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT GOD IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR PROBLEMS." I think thats pretty powerful. You made the remark that "YOU" have eliminated 3 main things that keep returning, and that you have two old past things that "YOU" need to work out and get rid of. I hope what I'm about to say willmake sense to you. The main problem is that "YOU" will NEVER work out the problems, or get rid of "ANYTHING." If you could do it, God wouldnt get the GLORY for it, and He shares His GLORY with no one. What He says is, "Come to me as you are, and He will do what needs to be done." When you go into His very presence, have a heart to heart talk with Him and tell Him you are laying your problems at the Cross, and your faith and trust is in Him, and no longer in you! And remember your past is your past, when we ask for forgiveness, He forgives, and its never to be remembered again! When you truly give Him everything your facing, TRUST Him, and that means there is no room for doubt, and you dont worry. I hope I have helped in some way, and I pray that God will Bless you, and reveal Himself to you in a way, that will leave you speechless! Love, Misty

You are very welcome. I dont have all the answers, but I know our Lord does, He is faithful. Even through our times of not understanding, He does. If you dont have a Study Application Bible, I really encourage you to get one. They are great, and I will admit, without mine, and without asking God for wisdom, understanding and meaning to His Word, I wouldnt have it. I never read His Word without asking for wisdom, and He says, those who ask for wisdom, wisdom will be given. You know the devil has a way of making us doubt, but when we have the Word of God, thats our power source. And I dont care what your dealing with, it can be found in the Bible. And with being a new Christian, I highly advise you to get one, and if you cant, please let me know, and I'll send you one and ask nothing in return from you, the Lord would want me to do this, but I'll take no Glory for it, He gets it all, so if you need one, please dont hesitate to ask me. Your friend, Misty

I have been feeling like god isn't answering my prayers for my husband. In 1999 he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. they also locked up the person that really committed the crime. the only reason they locked up my husband is because a lady that was on drugs at the time made a statement about him to free her self for jail. that was the only evidence the courts had against him and they locked him up on her word. Well because I was only eighteen at the time, I left him because i was mad that he was sent away for 30 years. i moved away and soon got married to a man that treated me like i was worth less and I had two children by him. thats when I gave my life to Christ. After taking years of abuse for my ex I left him and moved away. I soon became more driven to god and his word. I started asking god to show me his will for my life and I was also praying for god to bless with my soul mate. A couple weeks later god started laying my current husband on my heart, and i was upset. I didn't wont this man that was currently incarcerated to be who god was leading me to to be my husband so I cried and cried. the call was so heavily laid upon me that it got to wear I couldn't sleep at night. The next Day i called the prison and ask his case worker to have him call me. He did and it had been 9 years sense I had last spoken with him. i cried to him and I ask him if he would forgive me for leaving him and if he would please take me back. at first he was shocked and after a couple of days he agreed. Sense we have been together he has gotten saved and i moved back home to wear he and I started. A week after I moved here i ran into the woman that made that false statement on him and she told me that she was saved and shes sorry for lying on him. She said she is willing to make an affidavit to a lawyer and try to help free him from prison. Will now that we have her and the only evidence the courts had against him we have no money for a lawyer. I'm a college student and I work part time. we are now married and I love him and wont to see him freed i pray and ask god to provide away and it doesn't seem like he is hearing me. i believe if you did the crime than you should do the time but for him there was no crime committed. what do we do? I really need him home with me.

I really need him home with me. Mrs. Scott Im so very sorry to hear what you are going through, but I can assure you, that God hears all prayers, He tells us that, but He also tells us, that prayers wont always be answered the way we expect them to be answered or when we expect them to be answered. I know there are times in our lives that we feel that God is so far away, but He isnt, thats why its so important to have the Word of God with us, read it, meditate on it, believe and trust Him. Im certain you miss your husband and you need him home with you, and with everything you have said, it must be horrible to be faced with the circumstances that surround you. There is no easy way to answer your question, other than TRUST God that He will work this out. There is only one that places doubt and fear in us, and thats the devil, its not God. I read this just the other night, and it can be found in 2 Samuel 7:8-16. This is from the footnotes: Have you prayed with good intentions, only to have God say no? This is God's way of directing you to a greater purpose in your life. Accepting God's no requires as great faith as carrying out His yes. We dont always understand why God allows certain things to take place, but there is purpose behind all of it, and Im not saying that He isnt going to allow your husband to be home with you, but during this time, pray and talk with God, put your trust in Him, that He knows what He is doing, we serve a God that will not fail us, He isnt capable of failing us, take this time to allow your faith to grow, without obstacles and set backs, faith would have no room to grow. Your husband maybe there for a purpose as well, you said he has been saved, maybe the Lord is going to use him while he is there. There could be so many reasons why God has allowed this, and no one knows, but God does, and Im certain that if you and your husband will just hold on, and trust in God, one day, you'll have the perfect meaning to all of it. You and your husband are in my prayers. Hang in there! Your friend, Misty

Scripture tells us; (1Jn 5:14) And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1Jn 5:15) And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. Now this of course brings about the question of "What is God's will?". God's will fo Christians is laid out in Scripture, especially in the New Testament. So read, study, and learn the will of God. Pray within that will and not only will God hear you, but you will hae what you ask. Thansk RC

Misty that was a very nice offer and thank you. I purchased a NIV Study Bible and I am reading it now. With being a new seeker I know very little. I read and read and can not stop. I will take it to work and go out to my truck at lunch and read it. I went to church today this was the third time and I feel this is home for me now. The sermon was how to pray. This almost took me out of my seat and I felt a little scared. This was not just luck. When I went to bed I prayed to God and told him how I felt and fell asleep. This morning I had to be at church early because they gave me a job. I make coffee and fill the creamer and cups. This is a way they get me involved and meet people. It has been a very good experience. Today in bible study my second time I have attended. The question was raised Has God Tested You? I told everyone what happened to me last week and everyone explained the facts to me. A woman came up to me and asked me for money. I told her No! After I walked away I thought about it and I felt ashamed , I went and looked for her and was not able to find her. I failed that test. I knew it then and I was just sick. I told everyone and they told me to fix the problem and the next time you will pass it. I could have told he about Jesus and his salvation that I have experienced and how it will change your life. I did not have to give money but something more important. A way to except Gods Grace. I know it now and I hope I can talk to the next person.

You are very welcome :) And I know what you mean, about not being able to stop reading, I absolutely LOVE the Word of God, its our power source!! I once heard a preacher say that, BIBLE stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.....I found that to be quiet amazing! And always rememebr this, if you slip or mess up, thats ok, just talk to the Lord about it, and one thing I read that helps me, God does not expect perfection over night, but what He does expect is spiritual growth, and where do we get that? By talking to Him, praying, reading the Word, having a relationship with Him, we should make Him a part of everything we do and are faced with. I will never claim to have all the answers, but I kow He does. Its been so nice talking to you, and if you ever need a friend, Im here :) Your friend, Misty

Tip: With God's help, keep yourself humble. God hates pride. The humble He will lift up, but God knows the proud afar off. Tip: God honors persistance in faith. Matthew 15:21-28 (NASB) 21 Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David ; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed." 23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us." 24 But He answered and said, "I was sent only * * to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." 25 But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" 26 And He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." 27 But she said, "Yes , Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." 28 Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once.
