I bought the DVD for $5 and I'm stoked! I've loved this movie ever since I saw it back whenever that was--I think I was in high school. It's funny, it has a few creepy moments, it's nice to look at, has some nice effects, good soundtrack, the Coreys before they were the...Coreys.

DEATH BY STEREO!!!

HA! TLB. I love that movie to pieces.

For some reason, Star yelling "He's just a little boy!" while Lanny is all wild haired and frothing at the mouth just cracks me up.

"The attack of Eddie Munster!"

I just love the grandfather, especially that scene where they go sit in the car in the garage. Or when he's explaining why he buys the TV Guide.

I've never liked it.

It does have a big cult following, though, so you aren't alone in liking it.

I have always loved this movie, too. The humor is what makes it so great.

On a serious note, if there is one about this movie...I've always wondered if all those missing people got eaten. Did they?

I think they were either killed, or turned into half-vampires. Remember, the camera pans across a Missing Child picture of Lanny at one point, so I think that was the impression we were supposed to get.

Yeah, I guess. It just seems to me that by the time Dianne Wiest came along with her sons, the entire town would be vampirized. ha ha

Of course, Grandpa did say at the end that there were too many vampires around.

I actually just saw this movie for the first time earlier this month. It was funny, but had enough creep to it, that being alone in the woods I made sure to say my prayers....lol

I used to freak my brother out by standing outside his bedroom window at night and whisper loudly, "Michael, Michael." It was so funny.

Evil big sister here...

This is one of those movies you can see over and over again.

I absolutely love the soundtrack. Every song is just cool.

I recently saw previews for the new one coming out and I guess it's going straight to DVD. Not sure how I feel about that.

Feldman is definitely in the movie.

and I didn't even know Sutherland had a brother...so who knows ?

I might go check out the imdb website to see who else is in it.

I loved the first one. Its special when you can have both comedy and horror in the same movie. I also think that Keifer Sutherland is an under-rated actor.

The sequel is a must to avoid. I couldn't even finish the movie it was so bad. Every 5 minutes there was nudity. I wanted to see vampire fights and this is what you get. I made the mistake of getting it on blueray, but at least I have the orginal on blueray as well. Not only that, the story was very lacking and the actors are sub-par. Those that want nostalgia of the first, will be dissapointed. Keifer's half brother may be in the movie, but he doesn't have near the talent that Keifer has.

I loved this movie also.....and i agree with I Walk Alone, AVOID the sequal at all costs.

it was bad, and lame, and Frog is annoying with his overacting/deep gravelly voice. really overdone.

plus, Haim isn't even in the movie until after the final credits start rolling. he has about 3 lines, and 3 seconds on the screen, and then it's over.

really. bad. movie.

you cannot even tell that the main vampire guy in the sequal is even related to Kiefer because his acting is sooooo terrible. he can't even do away with his california dude accent.

it's really bad.

but the first one remains one of my favorite vampire movies.

Haim was only in it for 3 seconds? I never even made it past the first 20 minutes of the movie. The movie was so badly done, I doubt that even Keifer Sutherland cold have saved that sinking ship.

yes...and it was AFTER the credits started to roll.

not that it matters, but highlight text for spoiler below:

****SPOILER******

Haim comes back at the end and has a verbal confrontation with Frog. you see he's now a vampire. you don't don't get to see what happens. the dialog is something like this.

here's the scene. it's dark and there is fog rolling in.

Frog: cut the theatrics, you don't scare me

Sam steps out of the darkness, Frog continues to speak:
.....oh, so it's you

Sam: yeah it's me

Frog: just stay back.
Sam walks forward
Frog: i didn't want it to go down like this

Sam: oh, it's going down like this

frog rushes toward him, screen goes dark, and the credits continue to roll.

***end of spoiler*****
that's it. whattaletdown.

I loved the first one too! It's definitely one of my favorites. I will definitely fight the urge of curiosity and avoid it like the plague or else it'll end up being like the time I saw Secret of Nimh II - Timothy to the Rescue I just had to see what all the fuss was about how bad it was It was pretty bad

Not this time
