During the showcases, we were particularly inspired by Total Praise Quartet from South Carolina. It was our first time to hear them perform, and they are outstanding. Look for them in your area or next year at NQC. We also really enjoyed New Desire....... also not a new group but it was our first experience with them.

I sat in on several of the showcases, and the one and only group that really grabbed my attention was "The Taylor Family". They sang very well, and had a humble sincerity about them that was lacking in most of the groups I heard.

It was good to see The Dills perform right before we left. They are singing for me at my church in a few weeks. Of course, our friends, The Diplomats had just served up a good helping of SG. They make a buzz anytime they are on stage. I really hated that I missed seeing New Desire, though. They are such sweet, genuine people, and Foster and I enjoyed visiting their booth every night. WHat did they sing? Probably their new single "It Doesn't Matter Anymore"? Labron has a very unique voice, doesn't he?

I really enjoyed the Crist Family. They had been to Atlanta (one of Bobby York's concerts), but I was unable to make it to their concert. They sang in the Song of a Lifetime Showcase and I thought they were terrific. Seven people, and what harmony!!! They are one of Dinana's favorites, so I'm sure if they get anywhere near us again, Dinana will let me know!

I would say Tribute Qt. and The Crist Family were my favorites new ones that i heard this year. I also really enjoyed the Toney Brothers there this year, although i have heard them before, but i really liked them a lot this year, on the main stage.

Yes. The one song we heard them sing was "It Doesn't Matter Anymore." Labron did a great job!

It always amazes me that the lesser known groups who get to sing one song in a showcase can sing it so perfectly, like they did it every afternoon.

As I have already posted in another thread, I really enjoyed several up and coming groups in the Monday and Tuesday afternoon showcases. My favorite was Cross 4 Crowns. They did a great job at the showcase, and their new CD "Turning Point" is fantastic. I look for great things from them and hope to get to see them in concert soon.

Other favorites (in no particular order): Calvarymen, Paul's Journey, Liberty Quartet, Providence Quartet, Spoken 4, The Shaffers, and Voices Won. Also, groups on the main stage but still considered up and coming, Tribute Quartet, Soul'd Out Quartet, Paid In Full, and The Crist Family all did an excellent job.

They were in the last two Mull Singing Conventions in Pigeon Forge. Not sure about the future concerts.

I love to hear them sing, and they have an interesting story, which I believe was told in a Singing News article a while back.

I'm so glad to hear several of you enjoying Tribute for the first time at NQC!
I was not able to attend Convention, but watched most of it online. I'm so excited they won Horizon Group of the Year!

I liked Tribute even before they were Tribute. Bill and I heard a new group "From The Heart". They were wonderful. The Kellys are and always have been one of our favorites.

I just found this thread so hope it's not too late to jump in. The group that I really enjoyed getting to know this year were the Primitive Quartet. Although they've been around as long as I have, and I've heard of them and read a few articles through the years, I really enjoyed getting to know them and watch them perform. I prefer Southern Gospel to bluegrass but I am a new fan of the Primitives.

The group I'd like to become more familiar with is The Mike LeFevre Quartet but I have not been able to catch a performance of theirs yet except for a partial song last year.

Diana,
Thanks for mentioning this. I had looked through the November issue of Singing News but had not noticed page 8. Kind of special to me because I started the thread.

Have you heard anything further from the "new group" that was to include former Mercy's Mark members Josh Feemster and Chris West?

I heard they decided not to make a go of it, at least for now.
