I shared this on a very popular forum. I won't disclose the name of the forum because I don't know if that's legal here. Why wouldn’t a woman love Jesus? I noticed some of his harshest critics are women right here in this group. From what I gather some of you were once Christians. How did you come to such a conclusion about Jesus when… He gave the widow of Naim back her only son after her son had died. The gospels say that Jesus had compassion on her. He knew how difficult it was for women to be without the help of man in those days. He was concerned that no one would take care of her. He ignored cultural taboos and talked to a Samaritan woman, one who had five husbands and was living with a man. He brought hope to her. I noticed that some have criticized Jesus for saying to a gentile woman, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and give it to dogs,’ but you seem to forget the rest of the story, that Jesus healed that woman’s daughter. He healed the woman with the issue of blood. He healed a woman who was “bent over” for eighteen years on the Sabbath risking his own reputation. He healed the woman with the issue of blood. He healed Peter’s mother-in-law. He brought Martha and Mary’s brother back to life. He saved the woman who was caught in the act of adultery by preventing her from being stoned to death. He delivered Mary Magdalene from seven demons. He was dissed by religious people for hanging out with prostitutes and sinners. Another great quality women love in men is how they treat children. Jesus loved children. Many women loved Jesus. They followed him when he carried his cross weeping for him. Mary Magdalene wept over his feet, kissing them and pouring out expensive perfume on them AND stood beneath his cross. I wish she could talk to you about Jesus. Yes the male followers of Christ haven’t esteemed women the way Christ did. Sometimes the prophet is way ahead of the followers. Why blame Jesus?

I don't think you will find many women who dislike Jesus here.

I don't think you will find many women who dislike Jesus here. I was thinking the same thing. Nor have I ever heard it put like that. If someone doesn't love the Lord, it matters not whether they are male or female, they are both deceived.

Kisstheson, Jesus did such things for men, too. I could list the son with demon possession, fits, lepers, blind man, friend lowered through the roof, dead child, etc.... In my humble opinion, in today's society, women seem to be reversing roles with men. In many marriages, men stay home and raise the children, men are a head shorter than the wife, men make much less money than their wife, men are much less educated than the wife, etc. Women drive when the couple goes out and the wife seems to make all decisions of any importance. It used to be that men didn't show emotion and seemed to be less in touch with Christ. I've seen that change within our youth and younger fathers within our church when they line our altar at church, praying for each other or openly crying during their prayers.

Why wouldn’t a woman love Jesus? Makes no sense to me. He elevated women to a position far above their cultural norm. Makes me love Him all the more. Nice to see you here. LL

Sorry...but I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Is this a good thing that men are showing more emotions etc.?

men are a head shorter than the wife diane, was this metaphorically or physically? ROFL If PHYSICALLY, well, I suppose the poor fella can hardly be blamed for that!... AND since shorter people, statistically, live slightly longer than tall people, I suppose it actually HELPS to balance out the general discrepancy between the longevity of the sexes... thus the short fella MIGHT be seen as a slightly better provider! :0 Okay ladies, THERE's the answer, for a truly long lasting companion marry a somewhat younger, shorter male!

ORIGINAL: oldmethuselah Okay ladies, THERE's the answer, for a truly long lasting companion marry a somewhat younger, shorter male! Shoot, I married a taller, slightly older man... I think I understand the general sentiment of the OP. I have encountered it since the day I was married-- you know, the part about love, honor and obey? (Gasp!) My "enlightened", independent girlfriends about disowned me! What sort of faith would advocate a woman subjugating herself to a man of all things? The pride of thinking that I could make my way better alone rather than in submission to my Lord and to my husband is astonishing to me. God has equipped me in many ways, but I am to submit to my husband as the spiritual head of our home. I am happy to have dh accountable to God for his role in that! I know that there are already forums dealing with our roles in the home, in the church, etc so I won't go into great detail... Jesus is the one who set us up to live in community and without His divine plan, that community descends into chaos-- never mind the help of the enemy. It is also to the great delight of the enemy that this plan has been distorted to the degree that many women see faith in Jesus as oppressive. I think that we, as women of faith, have the responsibility to tell our stories so that our freedom in obedience is seen for the liberating and affirming state that it is when it is done in a healthy, godly manner.
