Remember when the Happy Goodmans reunited at the Quartet Convention? That night was the spotlight of the week. What if this group were announced to perform for the 2009 convention would you attend or wish you were there? or like me just would like for it to happen? "Gold City Quartet" Tim Riley Mike Lefevre Ivan Parker Brian Free And of course The Band of Gold Robe of White--No Other word--Under Control--Victory Side-- Where the Roses Never Fade--Somebody Touched Heaven What A Lovely Name--John Saw--etc.--etc.--etc.

Jerry Ritchie recently passed away, so I don't think he would be there. Other than that, I would love to see this happen. I would also love to see Tim, Mark, Jonathan, and Jay (my favorite version of Gold City) make a surprise appearance. I don't think either will happen, but it sure is fun to think about.

I think that, of all things, it might be a little easier to get the 80s Gold City together again. Brian Free, Ivan Parker, and Mike LeFevre will all be there anyhow, leaving only Tim Riley. Jonathan Wilburn and Jay Parrack won't necessarily be there. By the way, even if they did make a mainstage appearance (which would be great), I hope NQC would give then a 1 1/2 hour afternoon showcase, too. Putting all that work together for only 17 minutes just wouldn't be worth it.

Wouldn't it be great to see a Gold City Reunion for the Sunday evening program at the NGQ next year? Even if they couldn't put together a Gold City Reunion there are several groups that a reunion would be great to see.

ORIGINAL: DJSfromCleveland ....or even the Gaither Vocal Band Reunion. I know Bill just recorded a video of this project, but that would be cool to have all the guys be in concert on stage. YES, and I am sure it would fill up Freedom Hall!!!

I'd love to see a Singing Americans reunion. I'd want to see the Burke, Hill, English, Strickland, Smith line-up primarily, but if Ivan Parker, Danny Funderburk, Clayton Inman, and a few others were also involved, that would be OK, too.

I'd love to attend all the Reunions mentioned but, as to the original question, I'd especially love an '80s Gold City Reunion. Each of those members still hold a special place in my heart and I'm so glad most of them have their own ministries and that God continues to use them in people's lives.

Unless he changed his mind... there is one member of the 80's GCQ that wouldn't do a reunion. I asked his son once.. and he said he wouldn't do a reunion, even if it was for a video. But that was a few years ago.... mabey he would change his mind if it was seriously thought about.

I've always been told by several people that a reunion of the 1980s Gold City would probably never happen. However, time changes things. I won't say it will never happen, but sadly, I wouldn't look for it.

I know Mike LeFevre has been able to to joint appearances with Ivan Parker. Hasn't he been able to do some joint stuff with Brian Free and Ivan Parker both? If so, I guess those three are willing to get together themselves, just maybe not as "Gold City."

A headline that would thrill me would be an evening with the legends. It would involve pioneer groups like the weatherfords, Naomi and the Sego's Melody Boys Quartet, Chuckwagon Gang, Dixie Echoes (of Course), lol. Even a Florida Boys Reunion would be great. Also have the Inspirations, Blackwood Brothers, Dixie Melody Boys, etc. I think you get the point. Why have we removed the ones who made the Convention what it is today. They deserve a spot, especially the Blackwood Brothers, and the Chucks. I am so fed up with some of the mess that goes on. Out with the old in with the new should be the headline. I better hush or bye-bye Dixiebass1. lol

I would like to see a reunion of the Anchormen with the Terry Carter, Brian Routh, English, etc. I've heard a lot of good things about that lineup and never got a chance to see them before the major changes started. Another one would be Heavenbound. I miss that group alot!!!!

After reading another topic it reminded me of another good group for a full reunion... THE WILBURNS!!!! Most all of the old members would be there anyway since Tony is still singing and Mom and Pop Wilburn still travel and minister...if they could just drag Jonathan away from the car dealership they'd be right in there.

It has to drive a singer crazy for him to have his own successfull group or solo career, and yet everyone wants him to do a reunion with thier "old" group. How would it even work with singers who are currently under contract with one label, and the group they were with are on another. I will use 2 labels I know for example. Say if the Kingsmen were donig a new reunion, like the one in 1995-96 where they put out videos and CDs on Horizon, and Jerry Martin sings with them. His group is under contract with Sonlite. Would the labels give the singer permisssion to record on another label, would it be a monetary deal from one label to the other. How does that work? Might that be a reason why alot of people dont want to do reunions?

Since Horizon and Sonlite are both divisions of Crossroads records there wouldn't be any conflict there. A better example would be if the guys from Triumphant wanted to do a reunion with the Kingdom Heirs (which is highly unlikely). Triumphant is with Daywind and Kingdom Heirs is with Sonlite which is two completely different companies.

An "Ed O'Neal U." (aka Dixie Melody Boys) reunion would take a long time considering all the people potentially involved. It would be a very interesting and fun-to-see reunion.
