My landlord passed away yesterday.

It's sad on many levels, one being that he was a professed atheist.

I have no words right now.

Oh Christine!! Praying for you and praying for his family. You never know what last moments can bring. I pray it brought him salvation.

Catherine, sounds like Tiger would actually do better in a home with an understanding, patient older person that can give her one on one attention.
Pm Aga and ask her about when she first got Munchie. Munchie was'nt real receptive either at first.

Just keep talking gentle to her and maybe make sure she can have unhindered access to the wet food when it's time for her to eat. Gosh, I wonder what happened to her prior to going to the Humane Society.

Feral kittens tend to be less than ideally social.

I think our youngest was born to a feral cat. He didn't start out being terribly social. Now he really loves Jeremy but he and I don't get along.

He does love visitors. I think he thinks he can get away with stuff.. but I don't let him when company is around anymore than I do when there isn't company!!

Christine - I'm sorry about your landlord. That's just awful.

Hi Brandy!

How are you and Jeremy and your precious little girl doing?

My co-worker who was expecting is at the hospital as of this afternoon. It will probably be Monday before we hear how it went. She is having a little girl also. I gave her a copy of your post about telling the baby her birth story. She thought that was so cool and intends to do it.

we are all doing well Sharon, she's growing like a little weed.

I've told every mom I know that's expecting to tell them their story. I love it.

It seems to me that a ferral cat would be mean and not silent and shy. Is that not the case?

*sigh* So tired of work. I have gone from "this job is OK" back to "I really hate working at this stupid place." I really hope the appraisal place works out for Septmeber so I can quit wasting 40 hours a week of my life here.

alot of kittens of feral cats are socially inept or retarded. They don't know how to interact with humans. They will often cower and run away or in a last ditch effort to avoid being picked up they will hiss and/or scratch/bite. They seem withdrawn and have no desire for human contact. Sometimes they have no desire for other cat contact. They are loners and perfectly ok with that. They need an owner that doesn't expect a cuddle friend but wants another living presence in their home.

That's sad about Tiger. I agree with Sharon. Probably needs to be put with an older more understanding person rather than a family.

Oooooh, guess what? Today when I picked Tiger up to pet her she purrred very lightly! Yay! A small break through!
She has also been eating a little bit more.
Perhaps she is getting less tramatized. Too bad she is going back to the Humane Society on Tuesday. I hope she is not retramatized all over again.

Brandy, I heard that my co-worked did have the baby on Friday and she ended up having to have a C section. I know that she had really, really wanted to avoid that because of recovery time, but she just wasn't progressing I guess. I will hear more on Monday.

Hi Trish!

Sharon I was starting to worry about a C myself until things got going more. My midwife was determined not to have me have a C. I'm so glad. That was the last thing I wanted and I was so afraid that's where we would end up.

I'd be interested in knowing what was the reasoning?

Well, I think Tiger purring for me may have just been a fluke, as she hasn't done it again.

I am amazed at how fast the spay and neuter kitten appointments fill up now. With my first batch of kittens I called on Tuesday or Wednesday and got them in for Thursday. My second call was on a Tuesday and then scheduled me for the following Tuesday. Today's call was on a Monday and they scheduled me for the following Tuesday. Wow... I would have thought I still could have got in for Thursday.

So Tiger, Fluffy I, and Fluffy II are going back tomorrow. They are all "huge" and weigh like 2 pounds 6 ounces by now.

Blackie and Moe will go back next Tuesday. Today both of them weigh 1 pound 15 ounces, so they too will both probably be to almost 2.5 pounds in a week.

(((((Catherine)))))) Sounds like you're doing a good job as a kitty mommy!

Brandy, I will let you know when I hear about the reasons for the C section. A co-worker was thinking of going to the hospital last night. Timing wise I suspect that Sheryl will probably be released from the hospital today if there has been no complications.

The drop off time for the Humane Society clinic is 7 - 8 AM.

With my first batch of kittens I went to bed early for me (like 2 AM) and then got up at 7 AM and got there at like 7:45. That was so not good. I didn't feel safe driving becuz I have trained myself in to 7 AM being the middle of my sleeping time.

So this week I just stayed up after I got home from work. I went through some sleepy periods at 3 AM and 5 AM, but overall I did OK. It was kind of boring though since I don't really feel like forum reading right now and I don't have many good recorded shows. I left about about 6:45 AM and got to the HS about 7:10. I was still kind of tired, but not as bad as the first time. My auto-pilot thought I was going to work so I passed by two of the exits I could have got off at, but it turned out fine.

I hope Tiger will be OK. I told the clinic lady about Tiger not being a very human-liking cat. Reno is a no-kill community so it is not like Tiger will get the death sentence, but I hope she will get a home that is loving and understanding.

Tonight for dinner we are having 7 bone roast. I never even knew this cut of meat existed until two weeks ago. I hope it will be good. It is going to sit in the crock pot on low all day until Matt gets home from work.

I should go to sleep soon. It is now 8:36 AM here and I have been awake since 12:30 PM yesterday.

Are ya up yet Catherine!!??

Brandy, the baby was having distress and they decided to do the C-section because they thought the cord was around the neck... and it was. Mom and baby are doing very well I have been told.

Sharon, thanks for finding out and sharing. That makes sense then, I know that some babies are ok with cords around their necks but it can also strangle them as they descend so I'd rather have healthy baby and mom any day!!

I slept for six hours from 9 AM to 3 PM. I have felt blah most of the evening, but that could also be because it is warm and I was probably dehydrated.

The roast was quite good. I cooked it with 1/2 cup water, 1 cup cranberry juice, and dry onion soup mix. It cooked on low in the crock pot for nine hours. Yum.

It has been quite peaceful having two kittens instead of five. When these two are alone they are pretty calm. When the five were here sometimes I had to put them back in the crate just because the were getting too crazy and I feared them breaking/ruining stuff.

Tomorrow I go to the dentist for four fillings all on the left side of my mouth. I am quite curious as to how the dentist works on top teeth - I have not yet had any top teeth work done. I am going to guess that they don't hang people upside down, so I guess they must work with mirrors? Hum. I shall know the answer tomorrow.
I requested some nitrous to get through the shots. Normally shots make me cry. I don't remember the shots I got during my wisdom tooth removal and I was on nitrous then, so I am guessing the nitrous worked in my favor (either that or it has been too long ago now and I forgot that part).

Sorry if any of this post is incoherent. Me staying up all night does not seem to be a good thing. Guess it is a good think I turned down working graveyard.

Sleeping 9am ot 3 would feel too odd to me unless I was sick or something. Cuts the actual day up too much.

Cranberry juice and onion soup mix. Is that what you use for most roasts or just for the particular type that you made last night?

Prayers for the trip to the dentist.

Brandy, you're welcome. I am thinking of going to the hospital to see a couple of people today. If, ( I doubt it though), she is there today I will stop and see her and hear about it first hand.

I was born with my umbilical cord wrapped around my throat, but the doctors managed to get it off me pretty quickly.

I was too.

My mom was in labor with me for hours and hours (don't have an exact number). Her back was in so much pain. They had evidence of the labor, but the water hadn't broken yet. They wanted to send her home becasue the water hadn't broken. But something told the doctor not to do it yet. So he thought he'd push the labor along by breaking the water. He went in to do it and realized that I was turned the wrong way (not sure which way, I don't remember ... not breach). He started to turn me and the water came gushing out. Her water HAD broken, but I was blocking it. The pressure of the fluid in a different place being blocked was making her back hurt. As she started to push, he told her to stop. My face was all blue. The cord was wrapped around my neck. They were unable to unwrap it, he had to cut the cord prematurely in order to get me out.

It was quite a traumatic experience apparantly.
