I was thinking you were pregnant by the way your last few posts in the pregnancy thread sounded.

I'm 6 weeks based on LMP. The baby is too small in the ultrasound to determine it's age. So she'll check again next month.

Due Date is May 17th for right now. Of course, babies come when they come.

Brandy ~ I am not ignoring your post, but I will answer later when I have time to look up the names of medicines. I don't remember the full names.

Well, Douglas did call me on Sunday, but my cell phone went dead before we were finished with the call. Usually when my phone beeps for low battery I have a few more minutes, but that day it died in like 30 seconds. Sad.

In the days before that he had spent a lot of time writing myspace blogs about his Army experience. He got his GED.

So now in addition to answering the phone and keeping it by my bed I am also keeping it on the charger all night.

Douglas did call again this morning! He told me he only had five minutes to talk, but we were on the phone for almost eleven minutes.

Some things he told me today:

- he has not officially start basic training yet. They have 500 soldiers there and 400 beds so everyone is staying "across the street" until it gets sorted out. So he will probably start basic in 72 hours.

- in the event that he dies, he is leaving everything to me. He said this made for extra paperwork since the default is ones parents, and if dad wanted to he could probably take me to court over the money. Yah. Douglas said he currently signed up for $50,000 of life insurance, but next month he wants to bump it up to $500,000. I don't exactly see the point if having that much life insurance if you don't have a wife and kids who would need the money.

- he is thinking of coming to Reno for his two week Christmas exodus since he says he is mad at most of his friends in Vegas.

- he feels bad that I already bought plane tickets which I am going to have to rebook. he says if it costs too much to change them he wants to give me the money for the change since he has extra money and nothing to do with it. I told him that isn't necessary. he is in the same camp as Matt as far as, "Why did you buy them so early?!?!" Well, lesson learned there...

- I asked him if he had called grandma since he has been gone. He said no, but he has called my aunt wanda, who is in charge of grandmas money and all that. my grandma is currently living alone, which makes douglas feel bad, but supposedly she is happy. douglas has been trying to think of something to write to her in a letter since she has an easier time with letters than phone calls.

Well, I guess that is about it.

Catherine, it sounds like Douglas has turned out pretty nice. :)

One of our cell phones got wet and doesn't work anymore, so we use it for a charger. We keep a battery in there and keep it plugged in so we always have one full battery. Lindsay is always running hers down. I do too but I don't use it as much so it isn't an emergency when mine runs out. It has been kind of nice having that back up battery. not so nice having a phone die before our plan runs out so we can't get a new phone cheap.

Catherine, I'm sorry to hear about Ami. Poor dog! Poor you!

Christine, you're pregnant? Wow! What a surprise! May 17 is my eldest son's birthday.

Douglas is growing up! And the two of you are growing closer. That is so nice to see.

Praying as you grow your little one Christine.

~~~~~~~~
Catherine, thank you for sharing about Douglas. I have been thinking of him a lot lately and praying things go well for him in this new direction. I too am glad that you continue to connect more with him and are closer and closer. I'm glad that he will connect with Grandma too in a way that is comfortable for her.
It sounds like he is really trying to get things together.
Has he made any friends where he is? Like someone he just seemed to "connect" with? I hope that for him too.
Not sure about that one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, I heard from the vet at 9 AM this morning. All of Ami's lab work came back normal. The vet said to call her if Ami has more seizures and we can discuss putting her on anti-seizure medication.

I am truly amazed at the great incompetancy showed by the State of Nevada.

- I got some certified mail yesterday address to Christy (correct last name) from the State of Nevada. Uhm, alrighty then. So I went to the post office this morning to pick it up, greatly hoping my license was inside.

No such luck.

- They sent me back my finger print cards because it says I did not make out my check to the Department of Health and Wellbeing and Blah Blah Blah. What?!?!?! It said before to make out my check to the Nevada Highway Patrol. There is a page attached with the letter from whoever was running my fingerprints with a stamp that says "no personal check attached." Yes, a personal check is attached, but apparently I must have forgot the bribe money or something.

- The letter that the State sent to tell me this is addresed to Christine (correct last name). Why do all these government places in Carson City think my name is Christine?!!?! I do not understand. My name never has been and never will be Christine. If I was going to change my name to anything else it would be Genevieve.

- So I go and get a money order since I used up my book of checks and have no idea where the unused blank ones are and apparently the check I wrote is inadequate.

- I decide that I will drive to Carson City and hand them back my stuff in person so they can verify that everything is correct because I do not want it sent back to me a third time.

- I get there and I tell the guy what is wrong. I said, "So when did you change it from writing checks to the Nevada Highway Partol to the Department of Health and Wellbeing (or whatever it is called). He said, "Oh, they are the same thing, they just don't take personal checks." Are you kidding me?!?! The stamp says that I didn't attach a personal check. Why would they even get a stamp that mentions personal checks if they don't take them?!?!?! Why not order a stamp that says "We don't take personal checks, please send a money order."

- My name in the system does in fact say Christine. The guy who was there changed it in the system and then turned the monitor around to show me that he corrected it.

- Soooooooooooooooooooo, maybe in another couple weeks they will send me a license and not some part of my application rejected for another ridiculous reason. If not, I think I may have to strangle someone.

Oh my!! That is truly horrid behavior on their part. Good grief! But you know? That's seems to be the kind of thing that happens more and more today. It truly is sad.

I pray it all works out this 3rd time Christine um, I mean Catherine!

I like all the banging guys across the bottom of your post. Reminds me of Santa's workshop gearing up for the season ahead (Costco has had Christmas stuff for at least the last month, maybe longer).

I saw Christmas stuff when I went in to Longs Drugs on Thursday. Oy. It's not even fully fall weather here yet.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Princess has been kinda clingy the past couple day. She keeps following me around and then laying down when she thinks I am done moving. Last night I was making chicken in the broiler, which was 3x slower than the recipe said it should be. I was getting up to check on the chicken every 4-6 minutes. Princess would follow me to the kitchen and lay down a couple feet from the oven. Then she would follow me back to the living room and lay down a couple feet from where I was standing to see the TV. Over and over again. Now today she is at it again following me when I get up from the couch. Hum.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Today is the first day I am trying to live an uncaffeinated lifestyle. I am tired of feeling like a slave to caffeine: if I don't have enough caffeine I get a headache; if I have too much caffeine and not enough food I feel shaky. I have been dwindling down my caffeine consumption from two shots of espresso to one shot of espresso to one cup of normal coffee. So now today I am not having any. I have a mild headache but it is not too bad so far.

It sounds like you did it the right way. It's best to wean off.

Buffy does that sometimes too, and I can never figure out why. Sometimes it's obvious, like a thunder storm, she is afraid of them, but sometimes she just follows me everywhere. If I go upstairs and she didn't see me (like she was having a bite to eat or something) she will stand at the bottom of the stairs and woof for me to find me. Silly puppy.

Odd about Princess following you around. Is she feeling a bit uncertain about something? Or is the weather stranger than usual in your area?

Stores have started with Christmas things here too. Halloween isn't such a big thing here as it is in the US. In some ways I think it's good to have Christmas things out now, as I have some overseas gifts that I need to get done. On the other hand, there's a part of me that thinks it's just way too soon.

Could Princess be clinging to you because of what's going on with Ami?

That was my thought Christine, P could be picking up on something being different w Ami.

Or she could just have had a mopey day. Some animals get emotional just like we do.
