Thank you, Lord, for ALL the servicemen/women and civil servants of this great country who willingly gave their lives to save ours! I pray they are with you now looking down on us and see how truly grateful we are! May we see them all soon to thank them personally for their sacrifices. In Christ's precious name, AMEN.

For not being destroyed by a mini black hole created by the Accelerator, at least until mid-Oct. when it hits full steam.

And going on a men's retreat today- first one ever.

Thanking God that, although I'm losing my job next year, i am one of the last (timewise) that will be terminated. Praising Him that I'm not overwhelmed with worry, I know He's got my life under control.

I had a friend over today who shares my same first name...she also have a similar personality to mine so we get along well (rambling on and on about obscure subjects). She is good at organizing...so I had her over and fed her bagels and cream cheese. She got a lot done and plans on coming back to keep going when time permits. She enjoys it and I do too. It is awesome when you lack in an area and somebody who is strong in that area just gives and gives to you...and you feel like "thank you so much" but they enjoy giving too!

I received an answer to a prayer today. From a very unexpected direction.

I had teh opporunity to minister to a friend of mine a while back when that friend was going through some tough times. They were so concerned about what to do about some issue in their life. I told them that I had learned long ago that if we take care of the spiritual God will take care of the temporal. That is, if we are seeking God's kingdom and doing what he wants us to do (ministering being a witness etc) then He will take care of the rest of our needs and problem. BAsically do what you can and let God take care of the rest.

I had forgotten I told this friend that.

Lately I've had a situation in my life were I don't know what to do. My prayer to God has been "OK Lord, What do I do now?). It is so seldom that I don't know what to o that being in that state is most distressing to me.

This afternoon this friend called me and read me a letter. The words were oddly familiar. They talked about doing what you know to do, take care of the spiritual, and let God take care of the temporal.

It spoke directly to my need and I feel much much better about things.

God is so very good to us.

I'm thankful for the safety of our members who were in the path of Ike; I'm thankful for new adventures at work; I'm thankful for my DIRT members who have rallied around me to help with family issues; I'm thankful for this site and the ministry opportunities that abound. Can you tell I'm pretty thankful today?

I'm thankful that the "Service Engine Soon" light went off in my car without me having to go to a mechanic. I'm thankful that I was able to find a gas station with actual gas that wasn't too expensive yesterday (there was a bit of a run on the gas stations yesterday afternoon and I had very little gas for today). I'm thankful for the sermon I heard today - along with the bible study and the lessons from orientation class. I'm thankful that I went to an awesome meeting on Friday night and that the Lord saw fit for me to receive words of encouragement from a few other people. I am thankful that a woman that my family ministered to ended up getting saved.

Today, I'm really thankful for the insight I got from one of the program that I normally listen to. It game me a lot of peace, and my anger subsided for awhile and I could feel love flowing through me. That's enough for me to recognize that God has given me the grace that i need to let go of whatever/whoever it was that's making me sad.

Also, I'm thankful because a friend offered to give me 3 nights stay at this exclusive hotel in the country side for my birthday because she knew I desperately wanted to get away from the city. I'm so excited because it's another hikign town, sort of like the little town in the Rocky Mountain in Colorado. Very beautiful...with full of little shops and restaurants, and no street lights. I'm so looking forward to it.

I just returned from a work trip. I ate like a little piggy and was afraid that I put on serious pounds.

Weighed myself yesterday morning and found I had put on 3 pounds for the week. Weighed myself this morning and find that I am now 1 pound over my starting point for the trip.

God is so good to me. He's helping me get in shape again!

I'm thankful for God's wisdom on who we should allow into our lives.
Also thankful that the weekend is here and I can find time to relax, and spend some time with my kid.
Thankful for the Internet, because I'm tired of reading through the whole finance text, and googling is so much easier at times, lol.

God's been good to me, as well, even at times that I don't see it.

And I'm thankful for the counsel He brings from friends from unlikely places, like Crosswalk.

I'm also thankful for the weekend and hope to have a nice, quiet one.

I'm thankful that my computer isn't broken. This afternoon, I was burning to a DVD and the computer froze. So I rebooted the computer and it wouldn't start up. After two or three tries, I disconnected the iPod and it worked fine.

That I'm about 1/3 of the way through a project I've been putting off!! I might just meet my own deadline of getting it in the mail by noon today!

I'm also thankful I can open my windows this morning (though I'm sure they'll be closed in a couple of hours).

i'm thankful that the rain has stopped, because

-> bailing out those buckets is a trying task.
-> the workmen will be able to work today, bringing the house one step closer to being reliveable again.

I'm thankful for the men and women that God has blessed with the gift of writing. I'm reading a book right now by Philip Yancey called Prayer. I always feel deeply blessed by his writings. He's a Colorado climber and nature lover which makes probably why I connect with him better because of the imagery he uses.

I am thankful that I don't have jury duty tomorrow, even though I thought I would. I had a summons by mail, and had to call the confirmation thingy today, and they only wanted jurors up to #488, and my # was in the 500's, so I'm happy I don't have to do that.

I've been thinking about this thread a lot lately in light of other threads I've seen focusing on our honeymoons, future homes, names of children, etc.

What do all these threads have in common? They put a whole lot of focus on what we do NOT have! That, in turn, makes us miserable.

In times like these, I think it's far more important to focus on what we DO have and counter that misery with a big old dose of gratitude.

Said all that to say ... BUMP!

Agreed - wholeheartedly!!!!!!! I'd MUCH rather focus on what I do have than what I do not.

Thanks, Di!

So yeah, I'm thankful that Di had the courage to say what others have probably been thinking but were afraid to say.
