We just hired a new attendant...A Christian this time! I hope she'll work out. For the past year, we've had a lot of instability with attendants. It would be nice to have a season of rest. Of course, I've been praying since October for a season of rest, but the Lord may be teaching us to rest in Him. We can praise Him for using adversity to keep our eyes on Him.

Praying with you! That must be really hard to not have some stability in that area!

Hope everything works out with the new attendant.

I'm doing fine, just don't hang out in the best thread anymore.

The new gal came last night. She did wonderfully! Gee, I hope she'll stay for a long time.

J2smom, I got fed up with the best thread. Such a lot of silliness. I enjoy a good laugh, certainly, but I also enjoy good conversation. Maybe that's why I gravitate towards Current Events, The Church, and Morality & Ethics. It's good to be a thinking Christian.

Hi Ty! How are you? I've been posting more on threads about Rick Warren, John MacArthur, Calvary Chapel and Iraq. I'm learning a little. Discovering I'm not as educated as I thought I was. Hopefully, I'll learn more.

I post some on the marriage threads too. Sad to see so many hurting marriages among Christians. Makes me so grateful for my marriage.

So Ty, how many animals are roaming about your house lately? How's Walter? Catch me up on your life, please! And welcome to the thread!

Awww, thanks for the welcome Deb! I am so happy you started your own thread because now I can keep up with you and your life! I have missed you a lot and think of you all the time!

I have seen you post in the marriage forum a few times. I always really liked what you posted.

LOL lets see about the animals. Well, the new addition is a green and yellow budgie my mom gave me. She is such a cute bird and so very friendly!

So we have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, 2 hermit crabs (lol), and our grumpy bunny.

We are going to buy another cage and another budgie soon. We want a bird to go at the top of our stairs by our large window. This way we will have singing birds throughout our house.

Walter is doing really good. He is a healthy, happy muttinsky ! He is about 8 pounds now and I believe he is pretty much full grown. And he is still a little cutie doo.

Hmmm, what else?

Oh! We have gotten many renovations finished so far. Our roof (shingles) are finished, our eaves/soffit/fascia are finished, and our furnace is in! Now we are waiting to get our 9 windows and 2 new doors installed this month. We have been very blessed with everything!

Lorne and I are also building a fence! 23 sections. We have 2 more to go only and then it is just minor details. Then we are getting a guy to come and landscape our yard and lay down sod. That will be very nice!

I am very happy to hear about the new girl. Keep us updated on that please.

And Sue! It is nice to see you posting here too!

Thanks for the newsy post, Ty.

Gee, it's quiet here. Hope this thread will pick up.

We saw Superman Returns yesterday. The first half was slow and choppy. And painful. In the airplane scene, Lois Lane takes off her seatbelt, and consequently gets thrown around the cabin. It reminded me of my sister's accident in 1997. She's a flight attendant. she was working a flight from Hong Kong to Honolulu, serving trays, when the plane dropped 100 feet in clear air turbulance. She was slammed to the ceiling of the plane, and then to the floor. She spent five years on disability, fighting to get the airline to pay for her surgery. She finally paid for it herself. Don't know if she ever sued, but she's flying again. Anyway, the movie hit a bit close to home at that point.

I noticed that Superman nearly dies making a sacrifice to save North America. Was that an intentional allusion to Christ? Also, his father's words to him reminded me of Jesus prayer in John 17. Interesting. At one point, Lois Lane tells him the world doesn't need a savior. He responds that with his special powers of hearing, he hears the world crying out for a savior every day. That really struck me!

None of the characters had personalities, with the possible (but questionable) exception of Lex Luther's bimbo girlfriend. Superman himself was very bland. Not sure what Lois saw in him...except she had no personality either! I wouldn't see it again, I don't think. Any other opinions or insights?

I haven't seen it, but my boys, 14 and 17 both liked it. Maybe it was geared more to that age.

Hi all,

It's in the low 90's today, but my desk is in line with the A/C unit. That's a blessing. Gee, I hope somebody will post. Was my last post boring?

A/C is straight from heaven! It's going to be around that hot today - and later in the week, it's supposed to climb into the hundreds.... I don't like the heat anymore. It makes me SOOOOO unmotivated!

Sometimes I wear ice packs around my neck even with AC. I think that's an age thing though.

I like your new blogger site Deb! So pretty!

A lot of people told me that watching the Superman movie made them feel nauseated. I don't think I will go see it. This is what I have heard about Superman.

He is supposed to be like Jesus because his parents sent their only son to the earth to save it.

Cryptonite is like Satan or something weird like that.

It just sounds kinda weird to me. I would rather not compare some guy in tights who hits on women to Jesus. Ick!

How is your new aide Deb?

I haven't seen the new movie, but no Superman I ever knew hit on women. He was always kind of shy. What will they change next?

Debbie, I like your new site.

The new attendent's really good, Ty. We're very much hoping we won't have to look for awhile. This past year has been so unstable in that regard.

Superman is important to John...my hubby. John got Polio at age 6, and he was too weak to hold even a children's book. So a volunteer at the hospital brought him Superman comic books and taught him to read. When he finally got back to school four years later, he hadn't fallen behind his age group. Futhermore, he was placed in advanced reading! So, we're fans of Superman.

Hi Deb, I don't get a whopping number of posters either. I used to post more in the chat thread in Community and goof around a lot, but I cut back out of both neccessity and conviction. The more you goof around, the more popular your thread will be. I hope you stick around. I haven't been around other disabled adults for over 25 years; it's good for me to know I'm not the only one out there trying to live my life.

I'm taking your advice; I'm seeing Don more often, for shorter times. My sons and I stopped by Sunday; I went today and plan to go Friday. He says they are helping him more. I just need to make sure it continues.

She likes the Beatles? o, I missed that. I do recall Deb likes Little House. So do I...it plays into my fantasy about simple and rewarding life of yesteryear must have been. Nevermind all the heartbreak they faced...that part never clouds my childlike wonder of the pioneer days.

We had a wonderful day in Boston yesterday. I wrote about it in my blog, and included photos.

Marsha, glad you're visiting Don more. Remember not to go at set times. If they know you could show up at any time, they'll treat Don better than they otherwise would.

I hope I can be serious and still have a healthy thread. I like having fun, but I also like meaningful conversations. Is that so bad? I mean, I mostly post in Theology and Current Events. What does that tell you?

Hi Smiley...welcome!

Yes, you can. But I need this outlet to blow off steam after being in those other threads. KWIM?
