We have non-Christian attendents. One has worked for John almost 19 years. When these people bathe and dress us every day month after month, you bet there's intimacy on some level! I used to only hire Christians, but that's illegal discrimination. And we don't get many results when we advertise in churches anyway.

Back to my original question, though. I was thinking of my sister. I guess the issue sort of resolved itself; I got saved, and relational distance happened naturally. And the bond I do still have with her formed way before I accepted Christ. Same with me and my mom, who's also not saved.

I think part of the reason my sister and I can't resolve our issues is that she's not a Christian either. She might say she is, and she used to teach Sunday school when her daughter was little, but there is nothing in her life that indicates a love of Christ. In fact, she's very critical of Christians. She calls them "Those people" in a very derogatory way. She hasn't attended any type of church activity for years unless her grandchildren are involved in something. This also affects values. Money and social status are her guidelines and I just can't relate to that.

.... I agree with Kristin's post... wholeheartedly....

But yah.... your caregivers? Maybe you guys will be the ones to help win them to Christ.... maybe you will never see it happen... but you and John are surely seed planters...

Especially when you have to live through some very unthoughtful circumstances...

My husband's sister is not saved (also lives in CA- we live in TX).... his relationship with her is not very close... only because he is not very good at handling negativity and disrespect on such a large scale...

His brother (lives in TX) says he has Jesus in his life... but I don't see fruits of the Spirit happening there... my relationship with his brother is new... I am sensitive about any conversation he wants to have about Christ... I am also bold and don't hold any "Praise the LORD" 's back... know what I mean?

It is a conscious effort to really love the person.... but not their choices.... Loving someone like that can only be a God thing...

Definitely... I know that Christians do not live in a vacuum... We have interaction with unsaved people every day. The best way I can say it is the way my pastor told me when I first got saved. "Remember who you are, and remember Whose you are."

We pray our attendants will come to Christ. Trinidaddio does John's therapy every day while we listen to MacArthur on the radio, so lots of seeds get planted there.

Today, we got to talk to Houdini about her need to grieve over her uncle's death last week. We didn't really say anything overtly spiritual, but she thinks I'm very wise. I do talk about Jesus at other times, so hopefully she'll make a connection between my wisdom and my Christian commitment.

Sue, I'm sure the lack of closeness between you and your sister is primarily spiritual. That makes so much sense!

I missed the question about non-Christians here. I am not totally sure if I totally agree that non-Christian friendships are serving only. You can have a good time with someone and they can be enriched in your friendships with non-Christians as well.

Mike...hmm! So far, rain is predicted Tuesday, so I'm not sure we could make it. We'll email you soon. The weather really should cooperate with my wheelchair repair schedule, don't you think?

Yes Deb I agree! And who knows how the weather on Tuesday will be. And oh, that reminds me of something. Do you know Channel 5's Dick Albert? I am not even sure if he is still on the station or not, but John will remember him though.

Back in the 80's, when they were advertising him they had the quote "I should have listened to Dickie!" Well, one time there was a snowstorm coming. Both channel 4 and 7 said that we would get a lot of snow, but he said that we should miss it. Well, he was wrong! I guess people shouldn't have listened to him then!

Anyway, case and point, these weather people while they take their best shot at predicting the weather still don't know.

Does the Lord sometimes change the weather, just to humble the meteorolgists?

Has anybody seen the movie "Miss Potter"? We just got it from Netflix, and it's absolutely charming! It's about Beatrix Potter, who wrote "Peter Rabbit." No sex. No violence. No bad language. Just a good coming-of-age story that has a real plot and makes my husband want to read her books.

Mike, do you keep any ice packs in your freezer? They can help you cool down if you get overheated.

Hi Terri. My weekend's been okay. I prefer weekdays, when the good attendants are here. Today was an Avon delivery day, so John was busy sorting the order. But weekends are sure better than they were when I didn't have steady weekend attendants, so I can't complain.

How are you, Terri?
