Hi Leah how did your reunion go? This Saturday we are going to a family reunion. Itis with my FIL's 13 brothers and sisters (although I dohn't think they will all be there). It is actually two families. It is the family of the oldest Brother and his wife's family and both families have a lot of brothers and sisters who all now have children and grand children. There ends up being a lot of people there that is for sure!!!!

Hi Trish & DeeDee! . . . yes, it was a good family reunion. There were 120 people there . . . I think about 20-25 were our cousins/aunts/uncles, the rest were sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, in-laws. It was quite a gang Our son & his fiancee and the granddaughters got to go, so that made it all worthwhile to me . . . Melissa & Billy didn't make it down until later that evening -- well they'd just gotten to our house when we got home from the reunion. Then they spent the night and spent the whole day out in the backyard yesterday we barbequed -- even had breakfast there . . . had gorgeous weather for it! . . . 80s with a nice breeze. It's slightly warmer today, but I've been in the backyard again -- with my sis-in-law this time. We've been sitting out there admiring the birds, the flowers, the tomato plants and the beautiful weeping willow while trying to straighten out all the world's woes . . . decided that would have to be postponed for a while, so, just went back to admiring the birds, the flowers, the tomato plants and the beautiful weeping willow . . .*shrugs*

But I'm only 35!! I still like to do that, though. Course we have a mamosa tree that we just love to sit under. Well we actually have about 50 mamosa trees in the back yard that we love to sit and just space. I love them. They smell so sweet!

I wanna Mimosa Tree!!!!!!!!! . . . that's what I was gonna get with my free tree certificates this year, but we've been too busy to go shopping for it, let alone dig a hole for it! . . But, I'm gonna do it all the same Actually, the weeping willow would be a wonderful tree to have a picnic under except it is just far enough away from the house that it'd be a pain to be runnin' back & forth all the time for everything we forgot -- you know how that goes . . So, we just opt for sitting under the maples, taking in the scent of the honeysuckle and all the beautiful, sweet-smelling flowers I've planted all over, while we space watching the willow blow in the breeze . . . it's so cool!!!

I love to sit under the maples in my dad's back yard. I figure I oughta get some enjoyment out of them since I have to rake the leaves up when they fall.

Isn't it rather impractical to bite the head off a frog and throw it into the fire? Now that's not something city folk do!

It's impractical because it's so FAR from everything.

Country???? Guess I'll have to take some pictures and post 'em. Mags, the city I live in is the largest in the county with a population over 50,000. My dad lives right down the street.

- crowded stores

- grumpy, overworked salesclerks
- grumpy, out-of-sorts shoppers all crowding to get in the same aisle

- loud, blaring music
Oh -- and did I mention traffic????

LOL! You have to drive for forever to get anywhere or get anything (other than frogs and worms). Speaking of worms, I've been thinking of you now that it's cankerworm season in Winnipeg. I live in a heavily treed urban area. The trees that line our street are 90 years old. For some reason cankerworms (they're really caterpillars) live in the leaves and drop down on unsuspecting pedestrians (or anything else). They actually dangle from the trees on long silken threads and as you walk down the sidewalk you have to kind of brush them aside so they and their threads don't get on your face, your hair, your clothes, etc. I think, Leah, that if you ever plan a trip to Winnipeg, you most certainly should do it in June.

Oh, and I only have to drive 1½ miles on a well-traveled, paved road to get to a 2 grocery stores, about 7 decent restaurants and at least 4 fast food joints, a newspaper office, several doctors, video stores, umpteen churches, a very convenient Wal-Mart where you actually will find clerks who know the store and are more than willing to show you where stuff is --- and even deliver larger items you can't fit in your car, a school, a very large truckstop, nearly as many bars as churches, a brick-laying place, real-estate offices up the kazoo, an abstract, survey office, car dealers -- more than I care to count AND even a drive-inn theater! --- what more do I need??? . . . not worms, for sure! . . . . . Oh, and another 20 minutes will take you to a very nice, highly-rated university, several theaters (some live), a couple of strip malls, Lowe's, 2 Wal-Mart Supercenters ( ) . . . and more restaurants, numerous small businesses, car dealers, pubs/bars/taverns than I care to count! . . . . An hour will get you into St. Louis -- the western edge of it, anyway --- another hour will get you lost in downtown traffic, if that's what you prefer . . and if you pray real hard, another hour or so will get you back out!
