Thanks Donna! Yeah, I was kinda worried that I wouldn't get home in time to go. Class isn't supposed to end until 5:00 and the concert was at 7:30. The drive from Richmond to here is 2 hours and then it is another 30-45 minutes from here to Falmouth. Fortunately, the last thing we did in class yesterday was a written test and we were allowed to leave as soon as we were finished with it. I had already packed up my car when I got up yesterday morning so when the test was done I was out the door, made a brief stop at my dorm room, and then to the car. I was out of the parking lot at 4:20!

I was worn out by the time I got to the concert but at least I made it and enjoyed it. I also picked up 2 CD's and 4 DVD's to add to my collection!

And tonight I get to meet tenorsister's brother! Hopefully, he'll give me some good stories about her to share with everyone on here!

In the 21 months this thread has been open there have been over 100,000 hits. There are sure a lot of people interested in what happened at concerts attended by posters. This thread is a good Southern Gospel Concert News thread letting fans know what is going on on the concert trail. Keep it us guys and gals letting the fans know where you have been.

It's not going to be long before we start a new thread - What Recent Concerts Have You Attended - Part II

Not necessarily Robert. This isn't a chat thread so it can be like the Energizer Bunny and keep going and going and going and .......

I thought threads in PFY were the only ones that keep going. Here they have to start again when reach 100 pages with the exception of the chat threads that have to start over at 200 pages or the first day of the month.

It was my understanding that since this is not a chat thread that it could go on and on with no page limit. However, I have asked for a clarification since I have been known to be wrong quite often.

We saw Ernie Haase and Signature Sound last night in Cumming, Ga. They were awesome! I love it when they "slide". I got my picture taken with Tim. He was wearing lime green shoes! Ernie kept the crowd laughing but when they sang Sweet, Sweet Spirit, the Spirit came down! The concert was over way too soon. I could have listened to them all night.

We saw the Booth Bros. and Roy Webb in concert last night at the Boyd Christian Church, near Mt. Vernon, IL. We had anticipated this concert since purchasing the tickets several weeks ago, and we were definitely not disappointed. Roy opened with a set, which consisted of piano playing and a lot (possibly a little too much) of talking and story telling. His piano playing was superb, and he did have Christian witness as the point of much of his story telling. He stayed on the stage and played on most songs of the Booth Bros. set.
We have seen the Booth Bros. several times, and if it is possible, we enjoy them more each time. Listening to their smooth harmonies and easy banter, it is easy to see why they have become the favorite trio as voted by SN readers. Michael continues to impress and amaze with his wit, and coupled on the stage with Roy Webb, you have another "Tim Lovelace - Tim Surrett" type comedy fest. This was the 4th consecutive year (I think) that the Booths have been at this venue, with a full house every time. Ronnie and Michael also had their sons present and they introduced them.
Michael, Ronnie, and Jim each did a song from their respective solo projects, which have proven to be quite popular. They also did many of the group favorites, including some of their older hits, like "Love Is in the Room", The Mills Bros. song, the name of which escapes me at the moment, " Ask The Blindman, He Saw It All", and "Still Feeling Fine". The first year they were there they appeared with Anthony Burger. That year Anthony played while they sang "Look For Me At Jesus' Feet". Since that time they have always sung that song, and talked about that first time singing it there with Anthony. They did it again last night with Roy playing, and it was once again a tremendous moment for everyone there. In closing, count me as a staunch and enthusiastic Booth Bros. fan. We can't wait until the next time they make their way back up to S. IL.
We did get to introduce ourselves to Michael, as Mr. & Mrs. Billboy, and told him hi from BBfan, whom he should see tonite at their Georgia concert.

Well, my kids and I attended the third and final night of the Gabbard Homecoming in Falmouth KY last night. It was worth the trip!

The evening began with a black gospel group called William Clayton And The Redeemed. Talk about a group that was full of energy! They had the place rocking! It would have been worth the trip just to see these guys. Their love for the Lord came through in everything they sang.

The Gabbards were up next and they were as good as usual, though they didn't have any new songs this year. The highlight of their performance was when their kids and grandkids came out and sang a song.

Then the Kingsmen took the stage. This was the first time I had the opportunity to see them in person. I was not disappointed. They began the concert with He's A Good Good God and it just kept getting better. They sang most of their songs from the past couple of years.

We were able to talk with Bryan Hutson, Phillip Hughes, and Harold "Huggy Bear" Reed. Ray Dean Reese was the only one we did not have an opprtunity to speak with. My son and I each got a picture taken with Harold. Once I get the film developed I will try to post them somewhere.

By the way, Harold told me that the stories posted on here about him by tenorsister are completely untrue!

It was a good couple of nights of SG music, especially getting to see and meet the guys from Gold City and the Kingsmen. I added 10 more CD's and 6 DVD's to my collection so my wallet is hurting a little now but it will get over it!

Think BBfan (Lynn) had as much fun last night as I did. BTW she said to tell everyone hello, she probably wouldn't be here until she get home from VA. The concert at Hoofers was great. Opened with Southern Heritage a family group that was in the talent contest this past March. They sang about 15 minutes, no talking just singing, then came the Primitive Quartet, even without Larry who was having back problems, they did great. A great selection of songs. Primitives are always welcome at Hoofers where they have been many times. They have a great following in that area. Then for the first time every at Hoofers came the Booth Brothers. Undescribable. They brought the house down. When they thought they had finished Charles told them to sing more. I don't think this will be the only time The Booth Brothers will be at Hoofers. I sure with the crowd reaction last night that you will see them again there. Only disappointing factor was that they did not have their new cd. They said it was in the bookstores now but they probably wound not have it on the table until October. Something to do with the record company.

I went to a Gold City concert tonight in Kansas City, Mo. It was, by far, the best concert I have EVER been to, and I have gone to hundreds of them. The spirit of the Lord was there in such a powerful way I almost can not even describe it. All of the guys sounded GREAT. A lot of Steve's family lives in the Kansas City area, so I think he really enjoyed having them there tonight. This was my first time seeing Bruce with the group and he blew me away! He was featured on I'll Walk On and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house afterward. It doesn't get any better!

Food is good there and concerts are great also. Next Southern Gospel Concert is Sept 6. They probably have one of the best seafood buffets in the south. We usually eat at the concession. They cook hamburgers and chicken fingers right there. Hamburgers are made from fresh meat and not frozen. Only $2.50 for hamburger.

I went to Chalkville Alabama last night to see THe Old Paths Quartet. Man were these guys in rare form. They sung new songs, old songs and everything in between. I am not good at remembering all the songs but a few that stood out in my nimd was....

We'll Sing a Song
Echoes From The Burning Bush
He Touched Me
Boundless Love
I'm Living in Canaan Now
and the one that I remember most
Look For Me At Jesus' Feet.

I have heard that song performed by several groups but have never heard it done any better than Jeremy Peace did last night. I sat there with tears in my eyes and Glory Bump up and down my arms as I listened.

Oh! On We'll Sing A Song Jeremy and Brandon Barry swapped places. Jeremy sang bass and Brandon did the tenor part. It was hillarious and at the same time they managed to keep the harmony going. This is the first time I have seen The Old Paths live but it won't be the last time. If they are in your area I highly recommend you go see them. Just good four part harmony and quartet singing. Plus the guys are so friendly and easy to talk to.

ETA I got to meet another poster sevans there also. It is always nice to meet those we talk to on here.

Saw Legacy Five in Allen, TX last night. They sang a lot of their newest songs that I didn't know because I haven't had the chance to get their new albums. (I bought three last night so I made up for it! ) They sounded great and I really enjoyed them. Glenn and Frank both seemed to have slimmed down since I last saw them, not that they needed to! Both of them looked fantastic. Frank is always excited when they are in Texas...especially so when he was only 30 minutes from home last night! Several of his family members were there. Kenneth Payne, brother of Glen Payne, who lives in Dallas attended the concert last night and Scott pulled him on stage to sing bass along with them. Glenn was so funny sitting to the side making faces and giving a "so-so" to Kenneth's performance. After the second half of the program began, some things happened that got the guys into a really goofy mood and we laughed quite a bit before it ended in a very moving and beautiful worship time after Tim Parton sang. Overall a very good night and it was a joy to hear L5 again.

I think we can just ride that one out to the end of the year, then someone can start a new one for 2009. (The thread is a couple of years old.)

Maybe in conjunction with Biker Night, seeing as how so many SG people like to ride.

Last night I was part of a benefit concert along with Willow Creek Quartet at Mission Ridge Baptist Church in Rossville, GA to raise money and food donations for the Rossville Community Ministries ( a coalition of 10 or so area churches to provide for the needy).

I did thirty minute set with six of my original songs,"Sing about My Jesus, The Offer, I Just Wasn't Saved, God's Voice, Does He Know Your Name &, Be Ready, 1 song by written by the manager of Willow Creek, "The Greatest Love Story", and finished up with Song I heard Carroll Roberson do a few months ago and fell in love with, "One pair of Hands".

Willow Creek then did about 45 minutes with my favorites being"When They Ring Those Golden Bells, and an acapella version of Amazing Grace.

I don't know how big the offering for the community ministries was but there was a big stack of canned goods collected.

I had a great time. I always love singing for the Lord and when that singing helps out those less fortunate it gives me a special warm feeling inside.
