We are back from a weekend with the Soul’d Out Quartet. It was absolutely awesome! On Friday night at the Georgetown Homecoming we also heard The Dill’s and The Crist Family. Saturday night was a benefit for the Crossroads Shelter in Connersville, Indiana. We heard Driven Quartet, The Dill’s, Danny Funderburk & Mercy’s Way, Alan Harris & Family and of course Soul’d Out. That was a night to remember. Soul’d Out had the Sunday morning service in Mt Healthy, Ohio at the Trinity Baptist Temple. That was a wonderful service. I was deeply blessed at that one. Sunday night’s concert was at Dusty’s church in Greenfield, Ohio. They truly love him and that concert was one of energy, some challenges, and many blessings. I can truly say that I was blessed beyond all measure this past weekend. God is good! I am already looking forward to seeing Soul'd Out at Silver Dollar City on the 2nd and 3rd of September during the Southern Gospel Picnic. Here are a couple of video's from the weekend. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UShVlZ8QPF4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-hSKEJey9s

I saw Naomi & The Segos last Saturday. What I didn't know until I got there is that Ernie Phillips, Ken Turner, Bill Shaw, Miles Cooper and the Royal Quartet were also on the program. They started with a choir that included all the featured artists plus some singers from the church. Then each artist did a couple of songs. A couple of impromptu groups were formed. Bill Shaw, Ernie Phillips, Ken Turner, and a couple of others sang "The Old Country Church," for example. Ken and Ernie sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" together, etc. Naomi & The Segos closed the program with a thirty minute set. By the way, they made it pretty clear that Naomi's earlier plans to retire have changed. She's going to keep traveling.

We hosted our annual two-night event with Greater Vision last Thursday and Friday. Our 18th annual Evening(s) with Greater Vision. Great crowd both nights. This was Jacob's 2nd and 3rd nights out with the group as a full member and his first and 2nd nights setting sound, running sound and singing. He was nervous of course but you couldn't tell it by his voice. The people loved him. They hadn't really rehearsed at all on the regular Greater Vision songs though they have been in the studio working on two albums. They weren't able to sing those songs yet but everything Gerald picked Jacob jumped right in like he'd always sung it. Even in the bunch during some of the requests were songs like "Daystar" and "He'll Carry Me" which Jacob did a great job on. Looking forward to hearing the new projects - one is a regular mainline Daywind project due out by NQC and one is more of a "favorites" project that will be out toward the end of the year. One bonus was Friday night when Kenneth Payne, brother of Glen, was there and Gerald got him up to sing bass on "Just a Little Talk With Jesus". The crowd loved it of course.

We had a great time at the Amy Roth Homecoming concert last night at the LOST Mountain Baptist Church ---- once we FOUND the church. (Gerald mentioned that their GPS system also sent them to the wrong location!) I had seen videos of Amy before but had never seen her in person. She sang for a few years with the Nelons and has a lovely soprano voice. She introduced her two small children and several groups from her church sang one song each and then Amy performed several songs including The Glory Comes Down, I Have a Heavenly Father, I'll Meet You In The Morning, God's Promises Will Stand, Only Through the Blood, Brandon's Song (written for her infant), Four Days Late, and Press On. Greater Vision then took the stage and did their usual great job. Jacob might have been nervous but if he was, I couldn't tell! And I didn't hear any missed notes or see any missed words from him, either!! They sang many of their most popular songs and then threw in one surprise --- You'd Better Hurry Up! I had never heard them sing that one so maybe it's going to be on one of their upcoming CD's. They sang He'd Still Been Good, Tell Me the Story of Jesus (medley), Paid In Full Through Jesus, Amen, We Are So Blessed, God Will Pass By, Little Is Much, You'd Better Hurry Up, A Mighy Fortress, Faces, It Means Just What It Says, 'Til the Storm Passes By, and In Times Like These (medley). I did get a lot of video (surprise, surprise!) and pictures (including the new avatar --- thanks, Nancy!) . I'll come back and let you know when those get posted.

Just got in from seeing Voices Won. It was a great evening. The guys had their Dad and Granddad at the Church where they sang. Jaron was a member at one time and they knew just about everybody at Church. The guys dedicated a couple of songs to their Granddad and were almost in tears when they sang to him. It was a great evening. Looking forward to September 20 when they will be opening for Triumphant Quartet at Acworth.
