I am absolutely petrified of flying!! I am a nervous wreck days before a flight, and if anyone on the plane makes a suggestion of trouble, or even looks a little pale, I am wanting off the plane now!! A few years ago we flew to Oklahoma, on the way back we hit a bit of turbulance, and all the sudden my daughter says, 'Mom, you need to chill out, you are cutting off my circulation." I had a death grip on her poor little arm, and I didn't even know I was touching her!

Man, I haven't had the opportunity to fly anywhere since the mid80s. Yeah, I know, pathetic. I actually enjoy driving, too, though.

I had a death grip on her poor little arm, and I didn't even know I was touching her! I once flew from Chicago to Kansas City, a short 75 minute or so flight. There was one lady on board that was so afraid of flying that an off-duty flight attendant knelt by her seat and held her hand the whole flight.

I've only been on a plane once in my life. On the trip out, it wasn't as bad as I expected. But on the way back...well that's an entirely different story! I was one of those passengers that freaked out with the noises, smells, and turbulence. The person next to me, who probably thought I was a basket case, was telling me it was because we were coming in to a busy airport. Go figure. There was only one other time I considered getting on a plane. If I can drive to my destination, I'd much rather take that route.

I think there's an abundance of lint inside the dryer--not the small amount in the lint catcher. It's causing the dryer to get too hot (maybe?) and could be a fire hazard. How do I clean it out?

Shema; The guys can probably answer more succinctly, but my ds and I did this fairly recently, and although it's time-consuming, it's not a big deal. Is your lint trap one that's in the door, or on top of the dryer? Either way, you can pull out the lint trap, get a coat hanger and straighten it out, and use it to pull a lot of stuff out that way. Then you can take off the bottom front piece of your dryer...it's attached with little spring tabs--it may take use of a flathead screwdriver to pop them loose. That will let you into the bottom of your dryer and you can use a vacuum with a hose and a slender attachment to vacuum it out. Then you'll probably need to check your exhaust hose and make sure it's not clogged. That is a little more difficult, depending on how the exhaust hose is plumbed. Let me know if this helps. besiderself

How do I clean it out? First go to the store and get a dryer attachment for your vacuum cleaner. It will let you vacuum out teh lint trap area. Then unplug the dryer and move it away from the wall. Disconnect the exhaust vent and vacuum up everything you can reach inside the dryer. You may need to put your hand inside the vent to reach around in there. (That's why you unplug the dryer) Then vacuum up everything you can reach in the vent. (vacuum up everything behind the dryer too) (see besiderself's post for the inside) Check outside the house on the dryer exhaust. If the vent has a screen on it remove and clean the screen. If you have a shop vac or can borrow on you can also use it as a blower to blow the vent out. Use the crevice tool so you get a higher air stream velocity and then blow it down into the vent. You can do the same thing into the lint trap. WARNING: This WILL result in lint getting blown everywhere in the room. However it's a small clean-up to pay for being safe. After blowing it all out and vacuuming it up replace the outside vent screen. Reconnect the dryer exhaust vent and put the dryer back in place. Replace the lint trap. Plug it in and run a test load. Should be fine.

John and besiderself, thank you--especially for the reminder to unplug the unit first. I'll give it a go probably on Thursday and return with a fiasco, more questions, or a successful report.

ORIGINAL: teaspoon61 There are birds in my chimney. I hear them chirping and twittering. How can I get them out?? Since it's summer the damper is closed so they can't get into the fireplace. 1. Get a screened chimney cap made. 2. Either build a nice warm toasty fire, or set off a few firecrackers in the fireplace (I prefer the fire myself) This chases the birds out of the chimney. (You can also use bird repellent but I like fires) 3. While the fire is going have the chimney cap installed. (Normally it just lays over the top and is held on by four screws. Takes about 15 minutes tops.

Okay, I'll try. My mom has been sending me what she's seeing: I'm on Win XP. After running some scans (spybot, etc) she rebooted and got this: lsass.exe: system error: an invalid parameter was passed to a service or function. She clicked ok and reboot cycling started. She tried the reboot disc and the CD would not read it, or she said it wasn't, which I'm not sure. She started it in safe mode and it said, "When trying to update a passowrd, this return status indicates that the value provided as current password is not correct." At that point I gave up.

does the computer boot at all normally? your cd/dvd drive might need to be added to top of boot list in BIOS to boot from it. yes a system restore will likely fix the problem (make sure you preserve the data if u need any files), just pick an option to copy data files. when you are in safe mode and get the password, can you do anything else?
