A legislator who filed a lawsuit against God has gotten something he might not have expected: a response. One of two court filings from "God" came Wednesday under otherworldly circumstances, according to John Friend, clerk of the Douglas County District Court in Omaha.

"This one miraculously appeared on the counter. It just all of a sudden was here — poof!" Friend said.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha sued God last week, seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty for making terroristic threats, inspiring fear and causing "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

Hillary Clinton officially declared she's not a lesbian - not that there's anything wrong with that.

During an interview with The Advocate to be published next week, Sean Kennedy, the gay magazine's news and features editor, asked the presidential candidate, "How do you respond to the occasional rumor that you're a lesbian?"

"People say a lot of things about me, so I really don't pay any attention to it," Sen. Clinton (D-N.Y.) replied.

Pot-bellied Jesus ad irks Church

Catholic bishops in Belgium have protested against a TV ad depicting Jesus as a pot-bellied hippy picking up half-naked women in a nightclub.

The advertisement is being aired on the country's main TV channel to promote youth channel Plug TV.

The Catholic Church says this sort of portrayal of Jesus is disrespectful to believers and that it is wrong to use him for advertising.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - A day before flying to New York to speak directly to the American people, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad struck a confrontational tone Saturday with a parade of fighter jets and missiles and tough warnings for the United States to stay out of the Mideast.

Three new domestically manufactured warplanes streaked over the capital during the parade marking the 27th anniversary of the Iraqi invasion of Iran, which sparked a 1980-88 war that killed hundreds of thousands of people. The parade also featured the Ghadr missile, which has a range of 1,120 miles, capable of reaching Israel.

Some of the missile trucks were painted with the slogans "Down with the U.S." and "Down with Israel." The parade also featured unmanned aerial surveillance drones, torpedoes, and tanks.

Americans are flocking to confess their sins as Protestant churches have joined their Catholic counterparts in modernising the sacrament of penance.

Thousands of people are attending confession at weekends and just as many are posting their repentance on videos that are played back to congregations or shared on websites such as YouTube.

New technology is fuelling the boom, but so is clever marketing by Churches that are portraying confession as a form of self-improvement — always popular with Americans — rather than some sort of punishment.

So, let me get this straight. Some local yahoo, say, tags my car with racial epithets or something of that nature. It makes the news and angers black folks. Months later, a white man is beaten nearly to death by some black guys in a bar. Am I to believe that the reasonable upshot ought to be the media and a cadre of professional civil rights activists descending on the city and thousands marching in the streets justifying the beating because my car got tagged?

Is that what I'm supposed to believe – and am I supposed to agree that public outrage over prosecution of the perpetrators of that beating is justified?

Back in February, I broke the story about CAIR’s declining membership:



*An inspection of CAIR’s most recent publicly available IRS Form 990 (2004) shows for that year they received $119,029 in membership dues for that year (line 3). But at $25 per membership (the current rate is $35), that would mean that in 2004, CAIR only had 4,761 dues-paying members – less than 5,000 members out of 8 million Muslims in America. This would mean that CAIR only represents 1 out of every 1,680 Muslims. Even if a lower 6 million Muslim population figure were assumed, CAIR would still only be able to claim representation for 1 out of every 1,260 Muslims for that year.

He's coming to New York.I can't believe it.[:'(]

Six years into our "war on terrorism," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a strategic ally of al-Qaida, is flying into New York to speak at the United Nations.

Much of the controversy over this trip has focused on whether his request to visit Ground Zero should be honored. That, to me, is a distraction from the real issue – should he be allowed to visit New York under any circumstances, and, if he is, what should be done with him when he arrives.

Footage of the broadcast, along with a translation, was obtained by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

The program aired Wednesday.

Protests Await Iranian President In N.Y.

(CBS/AP) Critics of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad started protesting even before the hardline leader made his scheduled arrival in New York for planned speeches at a high-profile university and the United Nations that have aroused a storm of opposition.

A group of about 40 elected officials and civic leaders demonstrated Sunday outside Columbia University, where Ahmadinejad was scheduled to speak at a forum on Monday. More protests were to follow on Monday near Columbia and the United Nations, where the Iranian president was to address the General Assembly on Tuesday.

Before leaving Tehran for the United Nations this morning, Ahmendinajad said he welcomed the U.N. as a forum to offer his solutions to the world's problems, reports CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller.

Jesse Adam Macbeth, 23, pleaded guilty to charges he faked his war record.

"He was in the Army for 40 days before he was kicked out of boot camp for being unfit,"*** said U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Sullivan. "He was never in Iraq."

The fabrication of the Haditha "Massacre" is crumbling piece by piece before our eyes. Methodically, like military precision, the onion peels are dropping away as soldier after soldier involved in this disgraceful charade have their charges dropped. In short order, with the grace of God, all of these victimized soldiers will find themselves exonerated and, at the same time, independent radio talk show host Michael Savage comes all the more closer to batting a thousand.

I say this for the very reason that Michael Savage is the only major radio personality who personally dedicated any time to this issue. In fact, I will never forget the Monday Savage returned from a weekend, saying he had decided to make the issue of the so-called Haditha Massacre, and the trial of Colonel Jeffrey Chessani, his personal mission. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, realizing that this man was actually doing something with his influence and his audience. Savage had decided to instigate change. This was oddly ironic, as not long before that I heard Rush Limbaugh say one afternoon "I don't do causes". Well, that's in part because he doesn't actually DO anything. A cheerleader cheers.[I must say, as a side note, that there was some satisfaction on my part when one day last week Limbaugh repeated verbatim a paragraph from one of my recent articles on Hillary Clinton. Uncredited, of course.] In any event, Michael Savage doesn't do causes either. He becomes them. Savage has been, to my estimation, completely accurate so far in his predictions of major news stories involving real issues and people. Savage has mobilized thousands to actually get involved in issue after issue, instead of just damning the liberals, the conservatives or George Bush. This is no small thing. Think about it: no one in Congress has been able to do that with their own constituents. And I hope in the case of these Haditha soldiers he is right again.

As a little background to this, on 9/11 this year I found myself stewing on a lot of negative things the entire day. The ironic thing was that it was an absolutely beautiful day here in upstate New York. As I walked down a busy main street I saw a Marine standing outside a recruiting office. I immediately walked up to him and said "Thank you, sir." He looked all of 21, but there he was, having become something I could never be. He simply smiled and said "No thanks necessary".[sm=flagamerican.jpg] My heart swelled because I meant it. This was doubly important because I used to be a knee-jerk radical liberal, filled with contempt for the military. If I can paraphrase George Carlin: "I was a liberal until I reached the age of reason." So understand that these comments of mine do not come from blindly following ideology.
