I have trouble getting my posts to go through so I'll start it and hopefully be able to add to it.

I started out witnessing when I was child. My husband started preaching at age 16 in the rescue mission. I went along and sang before he preached and we've been together ever since.

I remember telling someone that I was called to be an evangelist. That person said that all christians are called to evangelize. I said, "I preach the gospel every day. Sometimes I even use words."

We are all called to witness but not all are called to the work of an evangelist.

As of now I am called as an evangelist, but as I stated in the other thread, that's getting a slow start. I'm also involved in my church's music ministry (I operate the equipment), and a discipleship ministry with my pastor.

What a blessing you must be to be operating the equipment!

Guess what? My husband still has to do so much grunt work that I'm thinking that he should sell our equipment and find another avenue. I'm watching him and it's so stressful for him that it's not healthy. If you know anyone that wants to be an intern and could come and help us, it'd be the only way we could keep on doing this. It's ok with me if we sell the equipment. It's so much work!!!!! My next venue is this coming Saturday and the city is providing the platform, sound equipment and the concert lights. We gave them the publicity banners and they're putting them up. Although they haven't done that yet and I'm concerned but tomorrow I'll check on that.

Which denomination or Church are you with?

Thanks

...and a discipleship ministry with my pastor.

That sounds similar to the work of a New Testament evangelist than what I normally encounter. The NT evangelist started and discipled new works where the Gospel was not known or not known by many. Most who call themselves evangelists today preach inside established churches and, when they preach to a community, don't stick around to help with any discipleship of the new believers.

blessings peanut2, you seem a real sweet person, and I know you did not mean too, being new to forums, but it feels kind of bad that you hijacked my thread.. Though I guess it isn't worth dying over ( you know pick your battles kind of thing) anyhow welcome to crosswalk.

I'm sorry I high jacked a thread, that was not my intent as I'm new here. The threads are allowed to get really long on this forum and I'm not use to that yet.

Instead of high jacking this thread with questions about missions...maybe we could move those good questions to the community lounge where they allowed me to have a thread for interns and we could talk about the office of evangelism here.

How many evangelists do we have on the forum????? What are you doing to walk out this calling?

p.s. I just realized there is no discussion in community lounge. Well, maybe we could move the missions questions to the missionary thread.

I am an evangelist. At this time I am getting started. I'm getting in contact with various churches in my area as well as getting the word out that I'm available to preach. More available now that I'm about to be "downsized."
