I love Joyce Meyers too!

I wouldn't say he is my favorite author but I would say that he's gifted in using fictional characters to shed light on non-fictional issues.

Ishbane's Conspiracy
Randy Alcorn (Author)

I'd recommend this to any teen or young adult. It was fabulous.

Unfortunately, I don't have as much time to read these days as I used to. But I just wanted to chime in to say that I love books by Frank Peretti. He's so descriptive it's almost like you're there. I've read quite a few of his books. The last one being "The Oath".

There's so many good authors out there.

I read Peggy Stoks "Romy's Walk" and bawled like a baby. It's such a touching story. I bought [i]"Olivia's Touch" afterwards. It's just as good though not as heart rending.

Everytime I reread "Romy's Walk" I end up weeping. It's a tug at your heartstrings Christian romance - not a tragedy, the ending is good but the story's just so touching!

I've been reading a lot of Christian chick lit - I like Judy Baer, Marilynn Griffith, Kristin Billerbeck.

Other than that I pick up books as they interest me, but I don't think I have read a lot by any one author to consider them a favourite.

My favorite Christian Author is Terri Blackstock. She is such an awesome writer and shares the Gospel through her books. Although they make me cry, they are encouraging and uplifting!!!
She has several series as well as stand alone books. I definitely recommend her! Especially to someone who is not yet a Christian. If you know of anyone who is laid up in the hospital or bedridden I would recommend the Second Chances Series. But, really all of her books are excellent.

If you don't have the money to buy the books go to your local library. You would be surprised at how many Christian Authors they have.

Rousas John Rushdoony, the ArmEnian Calvinist, author of more books of substance than most Bible colleges. For 30 years, he read (and summarized) a book a day, then wrote -- with a fountain pen -- incredibly insightful books on history, philosophy, theology, and more. RJR has been called "the father of modern home schooling." His books on the theology of the state make it undeniably clear that public education is not neutral, but is radically, and horribly, religious to its core.

Speaking for myself, RJR opened my mind to the staggering fact that Jesus is Lord -- of the universe -- and not merely a personal guru.

Definitely a Francine Rivers fan, woot to the "Redeeming Love" plug up there! Also see "Atonement Child", "The Last Sin Eater" and the entire Mark of the Lion series.

C.S. Lewis is incredible, my favorite is the "Screwtape Letters"

J. Budziszewski as Professor Theophilus wrote an amazing book called "Ask Me Anything" and everybody in the world should read it.

Charles Sheldon's "In His Steps" is the WWJD story and blew me away

Anything by Elisabeth Elliot

"The Celebration of Discipline" by Richard J Foster is a great read for anybody wanting to grow in their faith through mediation, prayer and any other spiritual disciplines. I got all fired up after that one.

There are so many good authors, how do you pick?!

It has to be Matthew Henry's full commentary. It may be man's cleverness, i may sometimes disagree, but it's a huge help at times - almost daily - with bible reading. Love & God bless Little_1, BibleBased.

Hand's Down, John Macarthur is the greatest Christian Author of our time for one simple reason. It is ABSOLUTE TRUTH. No one goes through a scripture with a finer tooth comb than he does. There is no mumbo jumbo about how to get rich, or feel better about yourself, or any of that GARBAGE we see from White, Meyer, Osteen, or any of the other TBN Crowd. He is AWESOME!!!

Dixie, One thing I have to say about Joyce Meyer is that she gave up her records with out fuss. The others did not. Makes me wonder why... I guess they were trying to hide something.

It is also good to read a Christian book that is fiction. I have been ministered by many. I know several Chrisitans that will only read Christian books that are non-fiction. There are so many good fiction authors.

Robert Whitlow, without a doubt (fiction)

Everyone of his books is great. Exciting characters, some funny dialogue, and great lessons to be learned.

A+ I would definitely recommend him if you are sick of reading boring fiction.

Holy Spirit-I love His memoirs and the way He so clearly defined who we are and what God expects us to do to please Him. :)

Though, I am assuming you don't mean that.....
The Christian writer I have read is C.S. Lewis, he has a very interesting way of putting thoughts together.

I've tried reading more Christian writers but some of their books are hard to get through, probably because I am more of a sci-fi reader.

My favorite is "Till We Have Faces" by C. S. Lewis. Lewis wrote this late in life, and he himself said that he thought this was the best thing, fiction or not, that he ever wrote. It is so beautiful that it breaks my heart to read it, and I want it to never end!

I also love all the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, I don't know if people count him as a Christian writer, but he was certainly a believer and his works are full of his belief. Besides "Lord of the Rings," the work of his that really moved me is "Smith of Wooton Major." It is so full of longing for Something beyond ourselves! Also, it is often published (in English) with "Farmer Giles of Ham" which is by far the funniest book Tolkien ever wrote, and also with good moral lessons, even if not explicitly Christian. Most people do not know that Tolkien can be so humorous!

If you do like Tolkien, you should see the Danish edition! (I am Danish). Our Queen Margrethe II did the illustrations!

I find it profoundly embarrassing that God had to raise up a Mormon (O.S. Card) to glorify the name of Jesus in the genre we love.

Michael Flynn, a sci-fi writer I've recently discovered, is a practicing Catholic.

One quirky yet memorable pioneer in the genre, "Cordwainer Smith," was a practicing high-church Anglican, godson to Sun Yet Sun, pre-communist leader of China. His Alpha Ralpha Boulevard is the kind of short story that you'll never forget. "Smith," BTW literally "wrote the book" on Psychological Warfare. Copies run around $150 or more on Amazon.com, last I checked. To be effective, Lineberger wrote, psychological warfare needs to be anchored in truth and love. Those enemies you are attempting to demoralize must sense that you truly care for them, and are being honest with them. The professional achievement he took greatest pride in was a brochure he wrote for Chinese soldiers during the Korean War. He instructed the reader to approach an American soldier and utter a prescribed sequence of Chinese "apple pie and motherhood" words. Do this, Lineberger explained, and you will be received with honor, and treated well.

What the American soldier heard sounded like the English phrase "I surrender!" Thousands of Chinese lives were spared as a result of this brochure, since it allowed them to quit fighting, and yet save face.

BTW -- you may enjoy this article I wrote about the Christian and sci-fi.

Two more Johns: John Milton, John Donne. If you're interested in poetry, they're two of the best and they're both Christian.
