Why does God have a flag?

This is a rhetorical question, tho, so feel free to ignore it. Plus it is off topic. It justs strikes me as odd. A symbol in the cross, sure, but a flag? Why can't we just stick the cross on a piece of fabric and not call it a flag? Are we supposed to put this flag UNDERneath the American flag, as stated by law that all flags should below the US' on teh same mast? Isn't that how the law goes? Off topic off topic, I know!

Actually there is a difference between God "having a flag" and the "church having a flag."

God ordered banners and ensigns to be used over the camps of Israel so that whenever they made camp, they would place a banner over the heads of tribes, and ensigns over lesser families, so people could find their way around in camps where hundreds of thousands of people were congregating.

Num 2:2 Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house:

God commanded three tribes to camp on the North side of the tabernacle, three on the ?East, three on the west, and three on the south, and he named which three he wanted where. They were to use the
banner/ensign method for identifying tribes and families.

Perhaps you would benefit from a review of scripture without recourse to commentaries and theologians.
Please share Scripture that specifically identifies essential Christian doctrine. Will all real Christians agree with your choices?

All "REAL" Christians? Yes! Emphatically YES! Will they all come to the same conclusion without any input? Probably not. That is why we should come together and study one with another, with NO ONE being "IN CHARGE." ALL will be free to express their conclusion and ask pertinent questions without cries of "heretic" and "false teacher" from the others.

And all will be able to put "ego" behind them, as there are no preconceived "authorities" in the bunch. All it requires is humility and respect from and for each other.

Sounds like a fine recipe for relativistic anarchy. Not a very Biblical approach, in my opinion.

So I'm asking you with humility and respect if you would share some very specific Scriptures on essential doctrine that all Christians will agree with.

In view of your first comment, I hesitate to trust your second comment. I would not want to contribute to what you prelabel "relativistic anarchy." Nor would I contribute to what you prelabel a "not very biblical approach."

No Doc, I don't think past performance exactly demonstrates motivation for trust. I will sit back and relax and see what developes. Even Saul of Tarsus was not let into the congregation of believers without some modicum of distrust prevalent.

Also, I think it prudent to stick to the rules of engagement as delineated on the board; i.e., stick to the board made for that theme.
