Back in the 1960s, there was a guy on TV commercials called Mr. Clean.

He had a shaved head and one earring. I never would have imagined that this would one day be considered "cool"! Who'da thunk it?

SinnerSaved:

You don't like them, fine.

I guess though if a family member had them you would soon get used to him or her wearing them, anyhow.

Take care.

I have never liked earings in men. Actually, I would say that I have never liked piercings in anyone - male or female. I would go as far as to say that too many people think that they can improve on what the Lord has given us, so cosmetic surgery, tattoos and piercings are all in that category.

Just my opinion.

farouk....

Do you have earrings or tatts? Just curious because of some of your thread topics. Please, do not be offended. I have a couple of holes in me body.

By what you said, I guess your interest in earrings has cooled over the years?

Wes:

I actually haven't worn my earrings lately. Sometimes I wore both and sometimes one.

Some men would like the idea of having, eg, a Christian fish symbol embedded in their earlobe.

Thoughts?

I used to wear a cross day and night. It was a comfort to me at that time, but now I am of the opinion that sometimes such displays can be extreme. I do not see anything wrong with wearing the fish, a cross, etc. I do think that people should examine the reason they do so though. It can become almost an idol if taken to the extreme. That being said, I would wear a fish or a cross now (at times) if I still wore earrings. I am not opposed to wearing earrings now. I just have not "made it important" in a long time. I have way too many other things to occupy my thoughts.

I see. Would your work frown upon you having something in your earlobe, maybe?

Some work environments are rather conservative, anyway.

I cannot answer that. I have never tried to wear an earring to my current workplace. If I had to guess, I would say that they would ignore it. I work for the government, and they have to make so many allowances that an earring would be negligible.

I used to wear earrings. I had first gotten my left done when I was 14, back when that was cool. I got my right done when I was 18 or 19, but it got infected, so I took it out. Then do to work, I had to take out the left also.

To each his own is what I say, even though I don't understand the whole gauge thing. Why would you want a hole that big in your ear?

So they can still carry heavy objects when their hands are full.

More or less, it was a cool teenager or young adult thing to do back then. I am too old now to think of myself as cool, lol!

Not to beat a dead horse, but I remembered this thread this week. Feeling kinda spunky, I came to work with earrings to check my theory out. I was right. My boss nearly passed out. I just told her it was the weekend Wes and not to worry. She laughed and said it didn't matter.

So, an earring in both ears? did you pierce your ears especially, or would you consider doing it?

Yep. I had an earring in each ear. That's all I have, and I do not desire more. I don't judge anyone for there choice to pierce their ears or not, but I am typically conservative. My slant has only deepened over the years. My ears have been pierced for a very long time. In fact, I would not choose to pierce them now if they were not already done. I have grown to enjoy my lack of attention!

ear rings are best left to girls.

Well, okay, some ppl like just the one, for guys, yes. So the one earring that you might think looks okay, how old would a son of yours need to be before you let him have it?

Take care.

Thanks, and take care.

No one in my family has them, I was only saying I see the boys she hangs with have them. It's a matter of choice whether to have them and I don't judge them, not my place. It's just getting more common to see even out in public and a lot of male music artists have them as well. It's certainly not distracting me I don't focus on it.
