Here is something that I thought about whiling the cashier was ringing up my Hostess Cup Cakes at $1.29 each. I remember when they were only .29 cents instead, and remember it being a rather big deal when they went up to .31 cents instead, go figure.

I remember 10 cent Hershey bars! The person who mentioned dolls with growing hair reminded me of my doll with hair you could curl. Her name was Cathy Quick Curl, and she, along with my Original Holly Hobby doll, were my absolute favorites. I really wanted a Gabigail doll that I saw advertised, but never got one. It was supposed to record your voice and play back whatever you said when you pulled the string on her back. A few years ago, before my daughter outgrew dolls, she asked for a doll like one I used to have. I wrote Cathy Quick Curl off as impossible and didn't even look for it. We probably should have. We looked for Holly Hobby and couldn't find one like the one I had, and it was supposed to have been the original, at least according to its label.

The price that I quote for bus fare was .15 cents. That was actually the student price. The adult price was .20 cents. The summer I graduated from high school, the student fare went up to .20 cents and the adult fare went up to a quarter. I had to pay a dime extra to ride the bus. I had to really scrimp for bus fare. Now bus fare is $1.75!

I also remember 1 cent candies going up to 2 cents instead. I remember someone saying that was expensive! Train fares used to be cheap here too, they triple in 1980 going from .25 to .75 instead.
