I have, Megan ... but mine I attribute more to the back injury I incurred as a pre-teen ... it affected every part of me ... pregnancy just aggravates it. It's not as bad this pregnancy as it has been with my other four ... and I'm wondering if that is because this is the only pregnancy where I've received chiropractic care throughout all three trimesters. In fact, because of my lower back problems, my chiropractor has (as of late) been focussing mostly on my lower back and hips, so they will "work better" throughout the delivery.

The only thing that helped my heartburn was Magnesium Trisilicate which I got from my GP (in the UK, pregnant and newly delivered women get their prescriptions free of charge). It came in a bottle and I had to dissolve some in water and drink it. I got through gallons, because I had heartburn all the way through, not just in the 3rd trimester.

I had no heartburn throughout my pregnancy so I was convinced Akeelah would be completly bald. Then I got really bad heartburn just in the last few weeks. And when she was born she had a whole lot of hair....in just one spot of her head!!!

Hi, Everyone! Not sure what all is being discussed because I don't want to take the time to read the 70 plus pages!  However, I do have a question for you all...
I am approx. 7 wks. pregnant with my 3rd baby. I haven't been to the docs yet. I already have two beautiful, healthy girls. For about 2 weeks now, I have been having periodic periody/crampy feelings in my lower back. I have fully expected my period to start several times, but it never has. Not even spotting. It mainly happens in the evening, but has also happened during the day too. Is this normal? I don't remember it happening with my other pregnancies. I feel like a newbie this time around!! I'm feeling otherwise like it's a 100% normal pregnancy, i.e., morning sickness (although mine has decided to buck status quo and be "nighttime sickness" so much so that I have trouble going to sleep at night!), tender breasts, etc.

I also had a lot of cramping in the beginning with both of my pregnancies. It is a little unnerving, but normal I guess...

Okay, that makes me feel better. I was hoping it was normal! We will be thrilled for a healthy baby of any sex, but of course, we are sort of hoping for a boy! I keep comparing my pregnancy with my pregnan. with my girls!
On another note...I had something happen this morning that was VERY disturbing!! I called my ob/gyn yesterday to set up an appt. to confirm my pregnancy. The lady I spoke to asked me what the first day of my last period was and then told me how far along I was, which seemed strange, but whatever. Then she told me that the doctor would call me within a day or two to talk to me. Again, strange, but this is the first time I've used this doc since I had my girls in TN and we are now in PA. The lady called me back and asked about my insurance info and said that if my insurance didn't cover the procedure, I'd be responsible for the $370. I assumed this was for blood tests, etc. So, he called me this morning, but I missed his call. I called the office back and said I was trying to reach him and also asked what "procedure" was being done that I would have to pay for. Apparently, the first lady misunderstood me to say I wanted to "terminate my pregnancy" instead of "confirm my pregnancy"!! They had me in their computers as coming in next week to terminate!! I feel so awful and I didn't even remotely intend to abort my sweetie!! Which leads me to another problem...I don't even want to go to a doc that will do an abortion in his office!!! Is this normal??????

That's what I told my husband!! Since when can you go to your doc's office and get an abortion?! As much as I hate to start from scratch to find another doc, I really am not comfortable staying with this one!

Thrilled- I would absolutely not be comfortable going to that doctor either. Minus how awful this experience just was, it also would make me uncomfortable because if something should come up with either me or the baby during pregnancy, the doctor would likely not be having the same views as me.

Well, I looked up pro-life doctors on the internet and tried to make an appointment with the one. Unfortunately, she doesn't deliver babies anymore. I spoke to her receptionist and according to her, there really aren't any practices here in Pittsburgh that won't do abortions. There might be several doctors in the practice that won't, but other doctors in the same practice will. I'm so frustrated. The receptionist did tell me though that the doc I am going to and the hospital I would be delivering at are the biggest for abortions though.
I had already thought about the fact that if my baby is dispensible to them, what's to stop them from not trying their hardest to correct a fatal problem?
I'm very frustrated. Since all this mess, I've started having some browish discharge and that has me worried to.
Sorry to just jump in here and take over! It's just that we haven't started telling everyone yet, so, I can't call up friends/family. I think because of all this, we might tell soon though. I was just hoping to get a doc's confirmation before telling.

You most likely will not be able to find a hospital, or practice who will not perform abortions or recommend them. It's just kind of the nature of the beast, so to speak. My doctor is pro-choice in certain situations, and he gave me wonderful care while I was pregnant and continues to do so now. His concern is of the utmost for my safety and the life of the child I would be carrying(if I was pregnant).
Honestly, if there is a doctor in a practice who don't do abortions then go see him/her! You probably aren't going to find an entire pro-life practice. Doctor's are legally obligated to attempt to save the life of any child if that is the desire of the parent.

Although it is alarming to see any kind of blood, the brown kind is the best because it means it is "old" if that gives you any assurance.
You may want to get into A doctor as soon as you can just to be on the safe side.

My midwife had a hard time finding the heartbeat, too, the last time, and I haven't felt any kicks. We did have a good ultrasound a week ago, though, and the little bug was very active and even waved hi at 12 weeks!

Well, today has been a rollercoaster for me! I went from having brown discharge to spotting bright red blood. It's not alot, but every time I go to the bathroom, there's more. I'm not really crampy and really feel pretty good. I've taken it easy though. I called my wonderful docs office and they said to go to the ER if it turned bright red. Alot of help they were! I feel like I may be spotting a little less tonight, but who knows. Also, my usual nighttime sickness kicked in, so, we'll see.
Anybody else have this problem and still carry your baby full term?

Thrilled - I had red spotting periodically through the 14th week. It would happen every week or two. After the 4th time, the doctor put me on limited activity - no exercise or intercourse. I am now 20 weeks and baby is fine. My doc has taken me off restrictions, and I haven't had an complications. I'm praying for you and your baby.

I had spotting from about 7 weeks pregnant, for about 2 months. It was bright red, and more than spotting. It turned out I had a hematoma in my uterus. I know Kim (Clag4Christ) also had one. Maybe she has more to offer.
A hematoma is visible in an ultrasound. If you go to the ER, is there a chance you can get an ultrasound?

I haven't heard of OBs giving abortions in their office, at least not in Ohio. I thought a woman had to go to an abortion clinic to get one.
Donna- you guessed at least half right. There is one, but the heart rate is 149, so the jury is still out on the sex. (My girls were consistently 150's) I know it isn't a hard and fast rule, but so far it has worked for me.
