Oh man I LOVED swimming when I was preg with my second. It is amazing how great your back can feel when you feel "weightless" in the water. Ryan would take care of Zach and I would just float. That was heavenly!

Angela I personally wanted a co-ed shower, I can't stand some of the stuff that happens at showers so with my husband there and some of the other guys it was a different atmosphere. I enjoyed it immensely. We made it more of a celebration with friends/family rather than just the girls getting together.

My shower was co-ed...my DH was there with me at the table opening gifts. It was a community shower, and I'm not really from here, but hubby grew up here, so I thought it was important that he be there.
Then my neighbor's shower was a few weeks later, and she did the same thing.
After the baby was born, my mom and aunts had a shower for me, and it was smaller, in someone's home and it was just women.

I was at a co-ed shower yesterday. In fact, I was the only one there who didn't come with a spouse ... dh had to work. This was for our pastor and his wife who are expecting baby #1 (a girl). They jointly opened the gifts, although the pastor was given the honour of opening the very first gift, as it was for him ... it was a "Daddy Diaper Toolbelt" which contained gloves, diapers, wipes, clothespin for his nose, goggles, and a pair of pink tongs to carry the "toxic waste" ... LOL (it had a few other things as well)
In fact, THIS is the exact one he was given, with the pink embroidery.

Well, I seem to be bucking a trend. My 2nd trimester has started out to be far worse then my 1st. Yesterday, I celebrated 14 weeks by throwing up for the 1st time this pregnancy, and today was the second.
What I thought were weather related headaches are back, but it's hard to take Tylenol when you're puking. Sleep is in short supply right now.
I'm sorry for complaining so much; I should be grateful that my first trimester went to well.

Not that I know of. But the advice nurse did ask me to come in, so Nathan and I are leaving in a few minutes. My nose breathing feels normal for me (I have a deviated septum), but my left ear has been bothering me a bit, so I'll be sure and ask them to take a look-see.

Well, I do of course know about baby showers, but they're a predominantly American phenomenon, so they're *not* the first thing I think of when I hear the word "showers". I either think of rain or the bathroom equipment!

Well, unfortunately, I think I had a miscarriage. Over the weekend, I went from spotting to feeling like I was having a regular period. I never did have strong cramping though. I was supposed to go to the docs yesterday, but felt that in the end, if I just waited it out, I'd be able to figure it out myself. I don't like them or trust them, so, I really didn't want to go in. My breasts are already not tender anymore. I'm quite sure I passed the baby yesterday although I felt back to normal. Obviously, if I start feeling awful, I'll go to the docs. Thanks for all your kind words and advice!

The fact that I look much more tired in the 16 week pic doesn't really mean anything -- I'm feeling fine these days. :)
ETA: Thrilled, I just read your post. I am so sorry. I've lost 3 babies and it is very sad. You'll be in my prayers. I do recommend getting an ultrasound for confirmation, as it is possible to bleed heavily without miscarrying.

But if there was a shower with all of his brothers and SIL's, we would have a blast. If it's not want you want, tell her you would prefer it not to be co-ed. And she should respect that.

But it's good that Nathan slept. We wouldn't want a tired, cranky toddler on top of it all!
