In one of my homebirthing books, can't remember which one, I saw a pic of a couple birthing their baby in lake/ocean water. I don't remember which. I don't know if I'd go that far. But laboring, yeah, that you could do. I think women whose water has broken can labor in a birth pool, don't know for sure. Help on that anyone?

Thanks for the support and advise ladies! I didn't have a bad dream OR heartburn last night. Yeah! I would think it would be ok to labor in the lake as long as your water hasn't broken. Donna, you may want to check with your doctor on that.

I only know that around here, once your water has broken they won't let you in the labor tubs anymore. But that's hospitals, not sure about anywhere else. I would definitely say go for laboring in the lake!!! I'm much more of a lake than a pool girl, though.

ORIGINAL: SweetLittleErin I wish our hospital had a labor tub....Klay (who works there) says they do, but its used as a storage room. Seems to be a common thing ... our L&D is the same way ... they have a big tub for labouring moms, with one of those really nice 2 headed showers so you can point the water pressure at two different locations ... and it is filled to the brim with JUNK ... and has been since before I had dd in March 2001!!! In this "junk room" they also have two very dusty/dingy birthing stools, several of the birthing balls, etc. I'll tell ya, my midwife is quite peeved that it is that bad, and she can't do a darned thing about it! Also, each birthing room has a bar that attaches to the bed so that you can squat to deliver, rather than doing the whole lithotomy position, and those are covered with a thick layer of dust as well ... the OBs use it to hang their hats instead of letting the moms use them ... since it is "easier" to deliver lying down (easier for the OBs only!) My midwife is SOOOOO happy that I'm not anaemic this time around and can therefore have Caleb at home ... she said that the thought of me having to do my entire labour in the hospital was making her queasy!!

*sigh* My headaches are really coming back, and the pain pills the midwife gave make me really tired, so I think I'm going back to Tylenol.

Sideways - I am sorry to hear you are battling with your headaches again. I hope the Tylenol can take them away. Did the cold/heat packs work? I have had back aches lately that wake me in the night. My hubby gave me a massage last night, and I put a cold pack on my back afterward. I felt so much better.

Congrats Chelsea! Purejoy - That is great news about your GTT test. Last night I used a heating pad and did some stretches for my back. That helped quite a bit. Does anyone have experience with a chiropractor while pregnant? I went to a chiro years ago when I threw out my back and am considering going again because my back hurts just so and it cracks when I get out of a chair. I am kind of wary about going for some reason.

Congratulations Chelsea! That's wonderful news. Everyone I talk to tell me there are lots of positives to having two babies close together. No headaches for me today, but I overdid it yesterday, and I need to rest today, so no going to the zoo for us! Poor Nathan is overtired, he woke up really early today, but he is fighting a nap.
