Yea, Scarlett!

Last weekend, we stayed with my parents and my youngest brother (11 years old) was able to feel the baby kick. Very cool. And the baby has started waking up and kicking whenever Gabe starts talking. Also very cool

My stomach area is starting to hurt a lot. My doctor told me the baby would be growing a lot in the next few weeks, so I guess that's normal, just uncomfortable. Gabe thinks it's extremely funny to throw things on the ground and ask me to try to pick them up

I'm due three months from today!!! (Dec. 7) One more week until I'm in the third trimester

Amy - That is so cool that your brother was able to feel the kicking AND was interested.

Last night I was lying down watching a movie with hubby and son when the baby starting moving/kicking so hard everyone could see my belly rising and falling. We were all cracking up. It looked like there was an alien or something inside of me trying to get out.

Question for all of you - I have this rash that is nearly a perfect circle around my belly button. The rash is red but really faint and itchs a lot. My skin in that area has been really itchy for the past week or two but I didn't notice a rash --- just thought it was my skin stretching. Does anyone know if I should be concerned? Baby powder seems to help for a little while but then the itching comes back. I am wondering if I should call my doc.

Angie, it could be a yeast infection. I've had those in my belly button before and they sound exactly what you're describing. Try using an OTC antifungal (athlete's foot stuff) and make sure you dry it realllllly well after you shower.

Angie, ouch! That's gotta hurt, what with the itch and the stretch. Never had that, but it does sound like a yeast infection, like Donna said. Hope it clears up soon!

I had diarrhea last night. It was hard to sleep. But it was weird, I don't have the cramping stomach pains, just the runs. My bottom is so sore. I am so tired too. Hubby is on a day trip to another church for the 'local' ministerium meeting. It's an hour and a half away. We have dead zones all around us. The best number he could get for me was the pastors home and he doesn't live nearby. Oy. I'm a tad concerned about that. Plus baby has been pushing on his doorway. It's weird. Like instead of the normal jabs and punches on my cervix the whole area feels like it's bulging. He must be pushing on something and thereby pushing his head down. Oh, another contraction. Doesn't hurt, much, just very mildly. Probably worrying for nothing. Well better get going on the day, got tomatoes to put up. I know after baby comes there won't be any canning in this house!

Gabe thinks it's extremely funny to throw things on the ground and ask me to try to pick them up

My dh is getting so tired of me asking him to pick things up! We used to never let our dog have human food. Even if we dropped something on the floor, she knew she couldn't have it. I tell ya what, she's been living it up these last few months! I don't care if I drop an entire steak on the floor, I'm not picking it up!

Amy, I can't believe you're almost in your third trimester!

Erin- too funny about the tomatoes. Let's see if it works for Kathryn!

We FINALLY got the baby's room done last night! I'm so excited. It wasn't supposed to happen until after Wednesday when we got carpet in our basement so we could move stuff. But dh decided to clean the garage yesterday afternoon and realized half the stuff in the garage needed to go in the baby's room. So we did a little temporary rearranaging and got the room all set up. I had my last shower on Saturday and got some really nice things. And enough gift cards and cash have accumulated that I am going to buy the bedding set. Otherwise there are just a few small things we need, like wipes. Once we get the bedding set I'll have to take pictures. I think now that my due date is 3 weeks away and I'm essentially full term, it's hitting dh. He's looked at my belly and commented *literally* 10 times in the last day "Man, this baby's coming fast, huh?" Umm, yep!

My husband (and a lot of other people) thought it was funny that I could balance things on my stomach (like bottles, glasses, etc.) It really didn't help that I could do it in the 4th month...I had to put up with it for a long time (I thought it was cool at first, but quickly grew tired of it!)

What's nice about having a toddler and being pregnant at the same time is that you can ask the toddler to pick things up and they love it!! At least mine does. She feels so important helping mama. Hey, it is a help!!

Oh Erin, I hope it does!! I wouldn't mind at all!

Kathryn - Are you feeling better today? Sorry you had a rough night last night.

I went to the doc who told me it could be an allergy outbreak. So at the moment he suggested I take Benadryl to subside the itch. If the rash doesn't go away in the next week, I am to give him a call and go back in for further diagnosis. I got the topical stuff, and it really isn't helping. Ugh! I have the oral medicine and am going to try that.

The 'runs' have slowed down some, but I am still going a lot and it's very loose. But not diahrea like last night. Still no fever, aches, pains or sicky feeling. I got the last batch in my canner right now. I was basically standing all morning, I figure that can't hurt. Well it does. I hurt from the waist down. I'm still having contractions off and on, but nothing to write home about. poo. Maybe I should enlist hubby's help tonight. Hmmm. That is if I can stay awake!

For the record, I put up 5 pints spaghetti sauce, 5 pints ketchup (which is just devine!), 1 Qt, and 5 pints herbed tomato juice. And I pulled the blueberries out of the dehydrator. I'm beat!

I hope that stuff works for you Angie. It seems like pregnancy makes everything worse or better! Like food! Food is just 10x better when pregnant. Don't know why. Don't really care.

My sis had a belly rash and ended up having a weird liver issue - intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, or something like that do make sure the doc checks that out if it doesn't go away

Wow, Kathryn, great job with the canning. I have never had homeade ketchup.

Thanks for the heads up, Kim, about the liver problem. Since the topical benadryl didn't work, I took some oral when I got off work yesterday. Oh boy, it layed me out flat for over an hour, and I was till groggy all night.....making it quite tough to think and follow through with my son and his homework/studies. I took a second dose before bed and the rash is nearly gone. I don't have the itching like yesterday. I am sooooooo sleepy this morning. My body doesn't react well to medication. It takes me a 1/2 day to work it out of my system and feel "normal."

I'm glad the meds worked, but man I've had those drugged feelings. It's not fun. It makes it so hard to wake up!

There is also something called PUPPS, it looks like a rash or allergic reaction and causes massive itching. I think Rachel(Isaacsmom) had it when she was pregnant the first time.

Now that I think about it, my friend got a terrible rash towards the end of her first pregnancy. I don't think anything really helped it. Other than ice packs to sort of dull the itch. I think it went away shortly before she had the baby.

I have an embarrassing question. I've been going #2 a lot, I mean A LOT! One day it was runny, but now they are just soft. It's not like diarrhea, but I'm just going a lot. I don't feel sick or stomach crampy, I mean I have period like cramps, but I think that's just the name of the game for me these days. My question is, my bum really hurts. What can I do for it? Other than sitting on ice packs....

Cold Witchhazel compresses (refrigerate the bottle), followed by petroleum jelly applied to keep acids off of tender tissues when you evacuate your bowels.

Steroid creams can help ease the pain and inflammation, but I don't know about using them during pregnancy ... (that's what I did when I had my bowel prep for my colonoscopy!)

Kathryn, there are prep. H medicated wipes (truly a God-send) that have witch hazel on them and are like the moist flushable wipes, but more expensive.

I agree mostly with this...exception being, I personally wouldn't use a petroleum based because they tend to hold in heat...if anything like that was needed, I would choose lanolin...it won't hold in heat, has some healing qualities, and is thick and protecting like petroleum stuff can be.
