Want to help me evangelize? I'm part of a small retirement community in Mexico! I'm not even 40 years old but I'm a missionary and this is where God has placed us right now.

9+ months ago I started using a couple of public forums as a way to shine in a dark place. There are agnostics, atheists and lots of new agers here, even a former morman missionary uses the board.

funny_girl -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (5/14/2008 8:00:52 PM)

The persecution was so great that I quit using the board. The board administrater even came to our church and over the months I've heard from several in the community that read the board and missed my posting. Sometimes I sounded like an idiot! Writing isn't my strongest skill and some of these people are so educated that they can talk circles around me. Finally my husband explained that debating wouldn't win them, plus the fact is that I can't debate. He said they need an experience with God.

There's been a lot of talk about heaven and hell on the forum here lately and I came across a couple more links that were so convicting that I was grieved for the lost on the other forum and posted a plea to not go to hell.

If you are a real strong evangelist and good in a debate form, would you be interested in helping me? If you are, pm me and I'll send you the link, if that's not against the TOS. This is for the sake of saving souls!

Thank you to the one recruit that signed on, he's doing a beautiful job!

I'm worn out you guys! It's been an interesting week with this other forum. One thing I did notice is that one really rough character has posted that she wants to know which God she should believe in if she's going pick one.

She should believe in the One who has already picked her! Only Christianity is God's effort to find people to love - all other religions are people's efforts to find a god to believe in.

We are to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. This, I believe, in the context of general forums means that the spirit with which we present the truth of Jesus Christ must be as kind as it is truthful. I have been posting in forums since pre-internet days (CompuServe) and I don't know that I can recall a single person being drawn to Jesus through an online debate. Not one.

But, I have seen many, many Christians strengthened by being ministered to via the internet. And, I have seen an equal number of terminally ill people be comforted by their extended family of online believing friends. I would urge anyone active in general community forums to minister rather than debate.

Your husband is right. [;)]

I felt burdened and I prayed over it, but I do feel released of it now. What really breaks my heart is to know that I couldn't convince them. I can get real torn up inside about it. Lose sleep over lost souls. Yet I know that I'm not the Saviour of the universe and many rejected Jesus Christ when He walked the earth in the flesh, performed miracles in their presence, witness the earthquake at His death and saw Him resurrected. We are to make the most of every opportunity, but we also have God's permission to enjoy our life.

Hi Funny girl!
I'm writing from Northern Ireland. I'd be interested in hearing more about your need for evangelists.

God bless,

Thad

funny_girl -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (6/1/2008 5:34:36 PM)

Thanks Thad,

The Lake Chapala area is a retirement community of about 10,000 retired American/Canadians and other parts of the world here in Mexico. This area is best known for it's spring like climate year round. June-Sept is the rainy season when it looks like a tropical paradise. Oct-May is the dry season. Right now we are waiting for the rain to start. It's warmer, upper 80's and dry high dessert.

There are many new agers, atheist and agnostics that live out here. A high percentage of new agers. They are really hard hearted. I've used a couple of public forums over the past 8 months to try and get to know people outside the church walls. Many have at least visited and or are now attending our full gospel church. Basically, I've stopped posting there again. I'd gotten a real burden for these people and tried to give them something to consider. It turns into a 3 ring circus and eventually wears me out. I think my time is better used elsewhere.

Thad, I hope you are for real and not one of the characters from the other board. Anyway, the tri states of Jalisco, Michoacan, and Colima are the darkest area of Latin America. There is high persecution here for the Latinos. Are you an evangelist Thad?

crm4souls -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (6/2/2008 12:35:34 AM)

Are you retired already, even though you are not 40?

The full gospel church you are apart of should join you in a outreach of some kind outside the church walls. God will give you the strength, continue to witness for Him. Blessings in Mexico.

funny_girl -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (6/2/2008 12:50:36 AM)

I'm tired of duking it out with them online. From what others tell me, they haven't had success at it either. So, I'm going to quit bashing my head against the wall or casting my pearls before swine. However, yes, we have had outreaches in the area. My spring concert was put on by the city of Chapala and that was pretty cool. One young man came the following day to church and was baptised in water! I was tired of trying to out smart them online. But it did sharpen me up a bit. I've always been one to correct with the Word of God. Ususally their first argument is throw out the Word and think for yourself or tell you that it's fairytales. Well, you've got to bring in archeological finds and the fact that the Jews are still alive and well. Then, do an online search on top religions. It's very interesting. Also looking at the fulfilled prophecies. Not to mention 666[:D]

funny_girl -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (6/11/2008 1:09:14 AM)

Just thought it was interesting that the Chad character, tetelestai333, above never posted but 1 post. It had to have been one of the characters from the other board. How funny!! Or a sock puppet.

rgod -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (6/11/2008 7:18:46 AM)

funny_girl - I'm encouraged by your heart for the people in that area. I'm not sure if posting online has accomplished its purpose - although you can be sure if the Lord led you to do it - that it has - even if you can't see the fruit with your own two eyes. Remember, some plant, some water, but God gives the increase. Although a person might not convert or might even continue to argue with you - doesn't mean that that person wasn't effected. And when people know that you love them, that is often the greatest witness of all.

Keep praying for them and about them - let the Lord guide you and continue to follow him. Don't worry about the outcome, just keep doing what God has called you to do.

Be blessed,

rgod

Hello Friend and SIster in Christ.
I also have spread the gospel in many forums and chat rooms. Many are Christian and Non-Christians ones such as atheist, witches, muslims and such.

I have been hated and persecuted by all kinds of people, even christians.

The truth is not accepted today even in the churches. "The Great Fallen Away" is taken place and many christians are more concerned about feeling comfortable and entertainment instead of Gods will, Truth and SOund Doctrine.

I have also been discouraged from my ministry before.

Do not forget friend: Jesus said we will be hated, excluded,falsely accused, persecuted, put in prison etc for his name sake. REJOICE like Paul said he was counted worthy to suffer for the name sake of Jesus Christ! :) [;)]

funny_girl -> RE: Evangelists wanted! (6/21/2008 10:26:50 PM)

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I do feel led to witness to them and have to take it step by step, sometimes stepping away for a breather. I've felt we've come to the place where the love of many would grow cold and I'm sure it goes hand in hand with the great falling away. It is troublesome to know that the way is narrow and Jesus said few will enter it. Oh Lord Jesus help us.

This week some of the trolls got out of the way and we had a pretty decent conversation. Some of the people recognize how horrible they were treating me and comment that they don't think it's right. It's such a DRAMA on these local forums and I try to be light hearted most of the time. God is good and I'll post as I feel led.

Yes, a lot of persecution at times.
