I'm 5 ft. 6 and I have/would date a man shorter than me. In fact one of the guys I liked a lot was only 5 ft. 4. I had no problem with it. I date on personality first, then looks second.

I find this thread amusing, only because I have had several conversations addressing this very question. There seems to be a trend these days to do two things that pretty much went against the grain when I was in the dating scene. 1) Many women/teens are attracted to shorter guys. 2) Many women/teens are dating younger guys. Go figure. I have some theories. One is that dance is huge these days. And usually, it is the shorter guys that can bust a move with the b-boy craze that 's going on. Hispanic dance is also really popular, and most hispanic men are shorter than the norm in North America. Many women/teens are attracted to that. The younger thing really confuses me though, cuz women usually mature earlier than younger guys. Not always but in general. With all the stress and negative in our society lately, perhaps women/teens are finding it refreshing to date younger men who have not lost their hope/excitement over the future... still willing to dream and envision. I heard press reports suggesting that older men cheat with younger women to escape the pressures of responsibility. Younger women don't require them to discuss the bills or the children or work... they just go to dinner and live in the moment. That mid-life crisis of trying to live in your youth as though age and responsibility can be made to disappear if you ignore/neglect them. So the dating shorter guys thing doesn't concern me so much, but the younger thing makes me wonder if women are under so much stress these days (paralleling the mind-set of men) that they are looking for younger men to escape dealing with the reality of age and responsibility. *blush* if you know me at all, you know that I think out loud a little too freely... I tend to ramble. this is totally off the top of my head and the first things that popped into my bizarre little brain, and I don't even know if I even agree with anything I just said. haha. ^_^

I'm not implying that this is in every case, it's just in the circles I've been in that it seems to be happening more frequent. Usually as a teen to date even a year younger was a bold thing to do, but now I know several teens dating younger guys. And I know several women dating guys 6-10 years younger. Two family members married/dating guys 10 years younger, one on each side of the family. They seem happy, they seem right for each other. Some are in church together, some are not. I just heard the news discussing reasons men do it... so it ran thru my mind why so many women are dating/marrying substantially younger men. Not that it really matters, just seems to be happening more lately so I wondered about it... I think too much ^_^

Been there, done that! Dated two fellows shorter than myself. One was 5'3 the other 5'6" I'm 5'7" I don't know though that I'd have dated a man say a head shorter than myself but I was always more interested in the person than in their height. One of my girlfriends who is 5'11" purposely sought out and married a man shorter than herself (5'8") because if she ever had a daughter, she didn't want her to experience the pain of being a tall woman. Her daughter is an adult now and she is 5'6". I guess making a play for a shorter man paid off in that sense but she also found a wonderful man, who had she been adverse to short people, she would not have married otherwise. Sudden

No man shorter than me has ever asked me out. I've a friend who is quite tall, 6"4". He says I'm beautiful. Maybe I just look better at a downward angle?

I personally wouldnt I just have this thing where I want to feel safe and protected and I like men who are much bigger than me but I know plenty of women who do date shorter men, my aunt for example is 5'9 and married a man who is 5'6 and they are very happy and in love.

As I am kinda, sorta tallish for a girl, 5' 8" I would like the man that I date to be taller than I am. But height isn't a signifier of how their heart is. So if God sends me a man shorter than myself, I wouldn't allow his height to bother me. I want what's on the inside, not out. Know what I mean Vern?
