Yes, I was shocked to see Theo in the bottom three as well as Earl. I was glad to see Theo remain, and Mark go home, as I thought Mark should have been voted off a couple weeks before.

Amberly - Her outfit and makeup seemed much more sophisticated than usual. It was okay - seems like her voice needed to be a little stronger on the song. She seemed too soft. (I've never heard the song, so I don't know how the original artist sang it.)

Theo - Cool how he stood up and finished it off standing.

Mitch - I thought the song suited him well - his style, his down-home style.

Earl - Send him home. He's done. OK, so he sings well for his style, but I can't stand him.

Drew - Interesting echo effect at the end. I think he did a wonderful job on it.

Mookie - I didn't like it as well as his other performances. I'm not sure why.

My votes: Theo, Mitch, Drew

Bottom 3: Mookie, Earl, and unfortunately Amberly

I didn't get to watch much of it (I don't think the pvr taped it, I'll check) but here are my thoughts based on what I did see and the recap.

Amberly - I was surprised by the amount of makeup! I believe she sang "1,2,3,4" by Feist (did she sing "1234" at any point in the song? I only saw her in recap).

Theo - I also like the way he stood up at the end, he is an excellent performer.

Mitch - he was ok, but I'm getting tired, it seems to me like he is singing the same song every week (could just be me).

Earl - wow I went from loving him last week to not liking it at all this week!

Drew - he was ok, I liked him much better at the slower parts.

Mookie - loved him!!! LOL. That kid is great.

I'll do an order:

Mookie and Theo tied for top spot (which is why I split my 10 votes between them last night!)
Amberly
Drew
Mitch
Earl

Both my husband and I didn't think Amberly sang as well as usual, but the judges didn't mention it, so maybe it was just us.

Theo always sings well, and is my fav, but I like Drew's singing too.

I think Theo and Mookie may be the last two remaining.

I'm kinda tired of Earl, and even though Mitch sings well, I don't really like his voice.

Upsetting result.

What was crazy upsetting was how Ben called up those 3 people, then said that they were all safe. Talk about emotional abuse to BOTH sets of three! Ouch.

Of course, I would be upset if anyone had left except for Earl.

I was upset to see Amberly go as well. Poor girl. She held it together through the entire thing and then let it all out during the credits!

I don't like the way they called the names. My mom and I were talking about it, and you could tell that something was upset because Ben said "please join me on stage" rather than saying "you're a member of the bottom 3 tonight, please join me on stage." But honestly I didn't like it, these people on the couch are celebrating and happy and then all of a sudden, they're shocked. I thought Canadian Idol was above that (because really, why do it for ratings, people aren't going to watch the show because they did that.)

Yup, I thought it was a little mean too. I think they are all nervous enough without doing things like that.

Wow this was a really good night, I really liked it (I watched it all mixed up though....Mitch and Drew on the Winnipeg channel - Earl, Mookie and Theo on the Regina channel.)

Honestly I thought everyone did really well, including Earl and Mitch. I think it shows that with the right songs picked for them certain people are good (because when Earl and Mitch pick their songs I don't really like what they do.)

But to list them all:

Theo
Mookie
Drew
Earl
Mitch

Hey, you beat me! I agree that they all did very well, and the songs the judges picked for them really showcased their individual talents.

Earl - Typical Earl, with his eyes closed, etc. He did sing it very well, though.

Mookie - Typical Mookie, great energy and grit.

Sometimes the judges get so ridiculous with their comments, like they pre-write their comments to throw in their weird sayings. (Sass, especially. The whole "it mixes up into a pot of 'Mmm, mmm, good'" was just INANE.)

Theo - I love his style. I like the clear, melodic style best, I think. He kinda reminded me of Josh Groban tonight. (Of course, I haven't heard of TON of Josh Groban...)

Mitch - I thought it didn't live up to his potential. I don't know why - can't pinpoint it. Maybe it was a little too high? Maybe it was too slow and plodding? Hmmm.

Drew - I've never heard that song before. I loved it. I thought he really delivered - great performance and emotion, great singing. I'm thrilled!

The order I liked them tonight:
Theo
Drew
Mookie
Earl
Mitch

I'm surprised Mookie went home, I thought he had a good chance of winning the whole thing.

I'm not terribly surprised. He had been in the bottom 3 several times. I think people might not like his style as much as the others.

I appreciated how Drew was shocked that it was Mookie going home and not him, and while I didn't hear what he said to Mookie, I'm sure he expressed his thoughts along that line to him.

So... the top four men are singing an Anne Murray song next week? I can't imagine Mookie doing Anne Murray - maybe it's a good thing he went home this week.

Oh oh oh! I hope someone sings "There's a Hippo in my Bathtub"...that's my favourite Anne Murray song (sorry I stopped listening to Anne Murray after Kindergarten so I'm not too familiar with her work.)

I was surprised Mookie went home as well, I also thought he had a good chance of winning even though he had been in the bottom quite a lot.

I still haven't watched the show, it's on my pvr, but I read it in the papers this morning.

I'm going to label these as FS (first song) and SS (second song).

I wonder if the singers ran both songs by Anne Murray or if it was only the first song, because there were definite differences in quality between the first and second songs. I think what Anne had to say was spot on for each of them. Too bad they didn't follow through on the advice on the 2nd song.

Mitch - FS: I don't have anything new to say. SS: He seemed to forget Anne's advice about phrasing and breathing. I think it would've been a lot better if he had breathed better.

Earl - FS: I pretty obviously agree with Anne's advice for him to open his eyes more, and Zack's comment about his aimless wandering. It's weird how Jake sees Earl as drawing people in and so forth when I see him as... boring. SS: Send him home! He doesn't sell the song at all. Bo-ring! Not only did he not sell it, he sang it somewhat poorly.

Drew - FS: Choosing a children's song? That's daring. I thought it was... cute. He sang it well. SS: Good, but not super.

Theo - FS: WOW. He almost gave me chills (I never get chills, so an "almost" is a big thing). SS: Well, there was some showmanship! I would've preferred fewer riffs like Anne had advised, though. I don't agree that it was the performance of the night.

My order:
Theo
Drew
Mitch
Earl (I actually cringed during his recap)

First songs:

Mitch - I thought it was good. It didn't start out great but got better.

Earl - It felt like drunken karaoke. He would have been better of sitting still for this one. The singing wasn't too bad, but the movement ruined the performance.

Drew - aside from the wonderful song choice, I really liked it!!!

Theo - This guy is way too good! He has no problem no matter what the genre.

Second songs

Mitch - I do agree with Jake that there is some sort of dynamic when he is singing. I think he has great natural talent but isn't completely sure how to use it.

Earl - I love that song. I didn't love that. It was boring because Earl is boring! And he shouldn't use the term "word up."

Drew - Great singing, but nothing too exciting.

Theo - Loved it! It could just be me but it seems that Drew has been going last an awful lot, I wonder if it's happening on purpose because he sure knows how to close out the show! With the right producers and songwriters, I honestly think he could be the first one to do well outside of Canada (or do well inside of Canada for that matter!)

Theo
Drew
Mitch
Earl

I only seen the second half of the show, but I thought Theo and Drew did a lot better than Mitch & Earl. I've been tired of Earl for a while, and don't really like Mitch's voice. So either of them going home wouldn't make me sad.

I didn't like Theo's song as much as I usually do, but he still my fav.

The western provinces, I guess.

And you hit the nail on the head earlier - his movements, etc. DOES look like he's drunk!

Well, it's about time!

Kevin commented tonight that he liked Earl at first, but the further on he got, the worse Earl seemed to do. Sad that no one wanted to start a train with him.

Was it just me, or did Anne sound like she had a frog in her throat, like she wasn't singing up to her normal quality? Of course, I've only heard recordings of her; she may have just gotten (dare I say it) old, and her voice might not put up with as much anymore.

Jordin's song talked about faith, didn't it?

Finally!

That was a sad attempt at a train, but a quite fitting exit for him...I burst out laughing after he sang his song and the credits were going and he looked at the guys and said "I wanted to start a train!"

Yes, Anne Murray didn't sound as great as she usually does.

I love Jordin's song. I think while it does acknowledge her faith, it's not specifically about it...I know there's a line that say "it's the faith that gets you there" (or something like that) but it's kind of ambiguous (faith in God? faith in yourself?)

Our Recording cut out at the end, so I didn't see that comment by Earl. Funny!

My husband and I thought Anne's voice sounded a little old too. I guess that's bound to happen sooner or later.
