I found it funny how Ben called Earl "Canada's Best Friend", he seems more like Canada's Goofy Puppy to me.

<snicker>

Of course, Ben's job is to make everyone feel good - if a singer bombs his performance and is bawling because the judges reamed him out, Ben comes out saying, "Well, I liked it! And you look awfully dashing in that outfit, I must say!"

But yeah, Earl seems more like a "Smoke a Reefer Buddy" than Canada's Best Friend.

Maybe that's what makes him Canada's Best Friend

Drew - FS: He sounded and looked professional on it. I really enjoyed it. I did agree with Zack that he could've been a little more gritty in the vocals. SS: Very good. He played to the camera very well, too. ;) I think Drew knocked his two songs out of the park.

Theo - FS: Classic Theo - very good. I knew the song too well, though, so it didn't feel like HIS song because I am too familiar with it. Argh! SS: His performance away from the keyboard felt a little bit like Mark Day to me. Ugh! But he sang it very well.

Mitch - FS: He performed it well, but his voice just doesn't seem to fit the style, IMO. SS: I don't like how he seems to drop a lot of the notes on his phrases instead of holding the note. (I hope this made sense.) It was good, but that annoyed me.

My order tonight:
Drew
Theo
Mitch

I honestly don't think I care whether Drew or Theo wins, but I do want one of those two to do so. Either way, whoever gets 2nd will have a great career ahead of him even without the publicity of being the winner.

Drew - He had an amazing night! He actually reminded me of Bryan Adams from years ago (I love Bryan Adams by the way.) I think this night definitely suited him.

Theo - continues to pick songs I absolutely love! Amazing on the first song, as usual. I like the way he sung the second song, and the wandering was a little weird, but I love that he understands the competition well enough to do something that will be absolutely amazing, and then take a chance and switch it up the next time.

Mitch - I actually thought the first song suited the tone of his voice. I wouldn't change the station if that song came on the radio. I didn't like the second song, so I guess I was the reverse of how the judges felt.

Top Two: Theo and Drew.

Btw....I taped the show at 9pm (even though it aired at 8pm here) and I started watching around 9:45. Once I knew what Theo's number was I started calling and voting while I watched the rest of the show. For a while, it was one call got through, the next call got a busy signal, which I thought was encouraging because it means a lot of people are voting for him. All of a sudden, at 10pm, I could hardly get through. I would get about 5 busy signals before I could get through and it stayed that way until I stopped voting at about 10:15. So I guess a lot of people were voting for Theo!

Ummm... on CTV here in Toronto, the show is on from 9 to 10. I'm not sure how you get it an hour earlier!

Bummer. I'm sad to see Drew go. Of course, there aren't many others to send packing at this point!

I am kinda surprised that Mitch made it further than Drew, though.

I loved Bryan Adams' performances!

Oops I thought it was on at 8pm here! Considering I was watching it at 9 on one of the further west of us stations! Then no wonder it was hard to get through!

I was very surprised, I honestly thought it was going to be Theo and Drew in the final two. Oh well, I'm sure that Drew will still do just fine.

Mitch ("Paris") - Very good. I enjoyed it. I think it was one of his best performances. I did laugh (and agree) with Zack's comment about his scoops, though!

Theo ("Good Mother") - Spectacular.

Mitch (Idol Song) - Typical Mitch, but I didn't really care for it. It seemed a little rough off the top - I don't know if it was too low for him or what.

They have different Idol songs? They didn't in previous seasons, did they?

Theo (Idol Song) - It seemed like parts of the song were too low for him, either that or he just sang them so quietly that the band overpowered him. It was very good, though.

Mitch ("If") - I really enjoyed it. I thought it was very good. Never mind the above - I think THIS was one of his best performances. :D

Theo ("I Wanna Know What Love Is") - I almost feel like he... butchered the song. I remember the original and like it so much, it's hard to hear it changed. He sang it very well, though.

I agree with Jake that it comes down to a matter of style. Do you like Mitch's style, or do you like Theo's? I think I'd never buy Mitch's CD because he'd annoy me after a couple songs. On the other hand, I could listen to Theo all day.

So yeah. Go, Theo!

I liked Mitch tonight, I thought he did well but as I listened to him sing I couldn't help but think "he could be Canadian Idol?" I agree, I could not listen to him sing a few songs in a row. I probably wouldn't change the station if his idol song came on the radio, but I probably wouldn't turn it up either.

Theo was amazing as usual. Just incredible. As he was singing Good Mother (another song I love) I thought, I may actually buy his cd (for no more tan $9.99...I don't buy cds). But when I heard his idol song, I took back that thought. I like him much better when he is doing the soulful thing at the piano (like John Legend.)

Anyways, I voted for Theo a few times.

So a Wednesday finale huh? Must be nervewracking to wait the two days!

Thing is, Wednesday we're going over to our in-laws in the evening, so I won't be able to watch it! Waaa! (We will record it, though. I'm debating watching the whole thing the next day or just skipping to the end and watching the last 5-10 minutes when we get home!)

Maybe with 5 minutes left you could excuse yourself to the bathroom and then go turn on the tv!!!

Mitc:, I thought his first song was the best of the three. When the judges commented on his flaws, did they mean how he sings off pitch sometimes? I'd never buy a CD from him either.

Theo, I enjoyed all of his songs, especially the first one. I sure hope he wins, his is the better singer, in spite of what the judges saying about it being a matter of style.

I have to work Wednesday, so depending on what time it comes on, I may not see it either.

LOL! There's no TV on the way to the bathroom, unless I sneak in my BIL's bedroom.

I will survive.

It probably starts at 8 which means the winner will probably be announced at 9:57.

I'm happy Theo won (since I voted for him and all).

I didn't watch much of the show (Dh stopped recording it) so I watched bits and pieces throughout the night.

Mariah Carey was ummm....interesting.

I think Theo will have a good career. Mitch and Drew will definitely make albums. I'm sure Mookie will get a recording contract as well.

I'm glad Theo won too.

I didn't see Mariah Carey, or any of the special guests, since I only seen the last 30 minutes or so.

I'm glad, too! We're unanimous!

We got home around 11:15 last night, so we only watched the last 12 minutes or so (saw all of Theo and Mitch's final song together, then the revealing). I'm not sure if we'll sit down to watch the rest of the show or not.

I was reading a review of the show in the paper and it sounds as though the performances weren't really worth watching unless you really like one of the performers.

(I reeeeaaallly wanted to see John Legend but Dh wanted to watch something and I was going to bed.)
