Don't have that LP, but Jerry was and is a special singer. Really a lead that sings tenor, seems to me. Another AR guy! Go Hogs!

Well, yes and no. I don't know what his range is now, but on his records back then he would sing in a mostly tenor range (hitting high B-flats and probably Cs) but with a lead singer's quality. That's a rare ability indeed.

Yes, it's just released from the World Premiere in Pigeon Forge last year. Jeremy Peace had only been with them a couple of weeks at that time. It's a really good CD. I've still got to go out and get the DVD that got left in the car last night so I can watch it.

One other note ---- there was a special thank you on the cd and the dvd to our own Bobby and Carol York for their support of The Old Paths and southern gospel music in general. Go, Bobby!!! Whoo--hoo!!!

It took me a bit to figure out what you meant!

By the "no," I meant that I think he really was a tenor singer, just with a lead singer's quality. But by the "yes" part of the "yes and no," I was indicating that I understood where you were coming from.

More precisely The 3rd track "One Pair of Hands" that I am working on learning.

Would be interesting to hear Jerry's take on this. Whether he thinks he is a tenor that can sing lead...or as I suspect, he is a lead that can sing tenor...or at least, could back then.

It is interesting to me because of some of the lead singers in The Prophets' past. Ed Hill says that he had to hire tenors to sing lead back in the 60's, because they voiced everything so high due to Big Lew's style of singing the tenor with his head voice.

Ugh...we are probably boring everyone with this bit of subjective trivia.
But if I get the chance, I'm gonna ask JT how he sees himself. I wonder if he is singing at GOGR next month?

I love Glenn Campbell's version of this great song!
I think it was the album title.

Always Have a Song - MTT - This project has songs by Rodney Griffin, Diane Wilkerson (including one of my favorties - Safe on the Glory Side), Kyla Rowland, Joel Lindsey/Wayne Haun and Dustin Sweatman with Diane Wilerson. What a great new project!!!!!!

If you can only get one new project - this would be a great choice!!!
