I've been following this thread and have been debating posting here. I even had a dream about this thread and what to post on Monday night. I hurt for the women who are hurting, and empathize with hurt feelings and alarm and frustration. (It's been one of those weeks for me.)

I don't mean to re-hash things already said, but there are some thoughts I want to get out of my brain.

I used to frequent the WO folder often, but it just got very busy with fluff. Lots and lots and lots of chit-chat. I never felt like I fit in that thread until I was married, and then after my divorce I felt again that I didn't fit. I'm sure a lot of that was my own perspective and healing and such that I was going through myself. But I still dont' feel like I fit. It also feels like it's a women's version of the General Community. So many threads are chatting about things both genders deal with and topics that could fit elsewhere.

I dont' puruse the folders looking for threads in which to post, I get email updates about new threads and click on it if the topic interests me. So I don't know how many threads exist in there. But I do know there have been A LOT of the stalking threads lately. I've never participated in one, for several reasons. But my overall impression of them is negative. I echo Twincity and the other ladies who don't appreciate them. Part of the negativity is the term "Stalker." I think it's such a negative, harsh term (and something that anyone IRL would NEVER want), why would we want to associate such a positive life experience with that term?????? That's my first thought on the threads. I also think there are a lot.

I echo that the WO folder feels like it's inundated with pregnant women or new mommies lately, even TTC women. For those of us who aren't pregnant, TTC, new mommies, old mommies, but just a female, it doesn't seem like there's a place for me there anymore.

I am an adult and make my own decisions and this is a free forum and I am free to read what I want and post where I want and if I don't want to post in WO I don't have to. I recognize that. I can skip the posts that I don't want to read and I don't have to contribute where I don't want to. I use the subscriptions so when threads get moved I can find them again and I always see when new threads are created in any folder I want because I subscribe to the FOLDER in addition to the threads. However, there has been a great shift in WO in the last few years and it's really starting to feel cliquey and like HS for me. Hence my decision to not post in WO regularly anymore.

And I echo the Internet-posting comments. Just today I was very hurt by a comment made on my public blog about an incident that happened TWO years ago. It's out there, it's public; don't post it if you aren't ready for any backlash.

Thank you Fritz for taking the time to respond.

As Kate stated, those women wishing to have their "stalking" thread moved back into the public may submit a request. That thread will be moved into the PFY folder.

Will there be some type of time-frame for them to submit the request? Will women who might possibility be delivering now or next day or so be given a little more leniency on that time-frame?

Why weren't the women notified prior to moving the threads?

Thanks for responding, Fritz. I am glad to hear that the women who have had their threads removed can have them back again if they want to.

Fritz provided instruction on how to proceed from here.

He also explained the rationale for what occurred and the time frames.

Time to accept the new procedure.

The olive branch has been offered by the admin.

Breathe........... in and out............ breathe.

Let me be clear, the decisions made were granted my full approval and support. I continue to support the decisions made and thank those who participated in coming up with a solution that met my direction. I want to especially thank Kath and Kate who have worked hard on this project and have taken a considerable amount of flak. You both did a great job.

The WOPI folder was never intended to be used as a PFY folder for women. We do indeed have a folder for threads for specific users. Such threads reside in the folder called Personally For You or PFY for short.

Any person may create a special thread for a specific woman expecting a baby in the PFY folder. In the OP one may make it clear that it is only for women to respond. It is also a good idea to give warning in the OP that the thread may contain information regarding pregnancies that some may find objectionable.

Individuals wishing to follow the threads may use the subscription feature or the bookmark feature. (Please note that these features may not exist on all portals. They definitely exist on the FCN, crosswalk.com, and christianity.com portals.)

For questions of a more intimate nature (water breaking, mucus, etc.) a thread may be started, if it doesn't already exist, in the WOPI folder for THAT particular topic. Bear in mind that if a thread already exists it is better to post in that thread as your thread may be closed if it is a duplicate.

I highlighted his answers and future procedures to alleviate the clutter.

Our process for moving mis-placed threads does not involve notifying of the move other than to leave a link to where the thread has been shipped to so that users can find it.

As I said, all the threads were a PFY nature. They should never have been in the WOPI to begin with.

ETA: The mods and I move a lot of threads throughout a week, expecting us to not only leave a link to where the thread can be found but to also notify would be less than an efficient use of our time. The link back should be enough to show a person where the thread can be located.

Fritz, I have one more question--what is the proper way to request a subfolder? Do we PM you? E-mail you? Start a thread? Sign a petition? I think some here would still be interested in a subfolder for pregnancy issues, but I don't want to get these two issues mixed up, because I think they are different.

Email the request to community@salemwebnetwork.com.

While the request for a subfolder has been heard we are not planning on creating any new subfolders at this time.

This does not mean that we will not at some other future date.

PFY is for personalized threads.

WOPI is for issues related to women which include mucas membranes, water breaking, etc. There is already a pregnancy thread as well as the new baby watch thread.

All of these suffice for our current needs.

How do I submit a request? (Sorry, that may have been mentioned already, but I am a new mommy and don't have time to read through this whole thread.)

My internet is down, supposedly to come up tomorrow, so expect a delay if you PM me with the request. I'm at the library now.

and in the request please let us know if you want it locked so it's just read only or if you want it to remain open. Thanks!

I just noticed how many answers EmilyAnn got!

If you want your thread moved back to PFY, do any one of the following:

1) Post a request here;

2) Pm Kath or me; or

3) email community@salemwebnetwork.com

If you would like for the thread to be locked, please indicate that when you make the request. The default will be unlocked.

Thanks!
