ORIGINAL: Jhud One issue not touched on here is probably the one that will effect a significant portion of our public policy, and is held to be one of the most important issues amongst a number of Christians - McCain has said he will appoint justices who are, " faithful to the clear intentions of the framers and to the actual meaning of the Constitution." while Obama sees the role of the Constitution as, a "living document and must be read in the context of an ever-changing world." thus signaling that McCain will oppose justices that 'interpret' the Constitution to allow for abortion rights, gay marriage rights, and ever more liberal government social policies, while Barak Obama will be inclined to support such justices. The appointment of Justices is so important (as you point out) that it is difficult to appoint either a hard core lib or conservative. The minority party, whichever it will be, will pull out all the stops to block a hard-liner. So you see justices being put forward that will not have a clear agenda. So, McLobby will likely appoint right-of-center and and Obummer left-of-center. You're in denial. B.H. Obama will appoint nasty people who adore the right to suck the brains out of babies and slaughter the unborn in all kinds of sick ways. It's the one thing you can count on from a Democrat. 50 million dead and they're not satisfied.

I would NEVER vote for a candidate that will use a litmus test to appoint only far-right conservative judges who will legislate from the bench. Judicial activism works both ways and we don't need a "big brother" Supreme Court trying to create a secular theocracy.

Judicial activism works both ways and we don't need a "big brother" Supreme Court trying to create a secular theocracy. Some people have the impression, I think, that the SCOTUS is like a group of two gangs, the pro-life gang and the pro-choice gang. Whoever has the most people in their gang, wins automatically. So by voting for McCain, he will surely appoint a "pro-life" judge, and hallelujah! Roe v. Wade will most surely be overturned. And, if Obama wins, he will surely appoint a pro-choice, or "babybrainsucking" judge and Roe v. Wade will be upheld. The fact is, when a case comes up, it's interpreted based on constitutional law, not based on someones personal convictions or beliefs. Case in point. Someone asked Clarence Thomas in an interview once, how he reconciled the fact that he benefited from affirmative action, however he routinely voted against affirmative action related cases since he's been on the bench. His response was, he has to rule based on the constitutionality of the law - not how the law affected him personally. My point is, voting for a particular presidential candidate based on who he may appoint to the SCOTUS, IF an position comes open, doesn't make a lot of sense. - Julius
