ORIGINAL: humbleinspirit Kinda reminds me when I tried to teach myself skating once. Everytime I pushed forward, I would go backwards instead! I dunno why I didn't think of just doing the opposite instead? LOL. That would have been fun to watch... hopefully you now know how?

Nope, still don't, this was a one time thing and to add more to injury (almost quite literally) I didn't wear any elbow or knee pads at all because the skating store only had them available in pink. Now, this was over 15 years ago and not these days where pink is more worn by men now.

all this talk about transportation & driving... makes me smile. public transportation here is interesting, to say the least... sometimes it's a horse!! I don't know where you are, but you reminded me of my time in Guatemala. In our village there were two 'taxis' and one little police car, and that was it. The 'taxis' were old toyota pickups with a-frame pipes in the back, and you jumped in and grabbed hold when you wanted on, and shoved your quetzales through the window between, then jumped off when you wanted off!

Enjoying summer, or working, or camping, or relaxing, or out doing things. It's ALWAYS slow during on the weekends during the summer. The only reason I'm on is because I just came home from the office but am about to get back to work.

This is one of my very, very, few posts in the monthly Singles Chat blogs. I think I've only posted once before (blush). I post a lot in the other singles and She Says blogs but not those titled with the month (am I explaining myself well ). Anyway, the title somewhere said Dog days of summer. I don't know exactly what that means but it sounds hot. We are not having any dog days down here. It's a very rainy July and we are, as happens every year, on an annual hurricane watch. Experieinced a tropical wave a few days ago. So all of our citizens feelings for July/August are mixed Yay - holidays, less traffic, kids at camps, can get more sleep. Oh no hurricane season. But what's a person to do - life goes on. A-hem! That's all I wanted to say. Thank you. (Steppping down from the soapbox.)

That's a perfectly wonderful chat thread post, ebony101! What's cool is that the chat thread is for just about anything...small chitchat, mostly. You can interrupt the current conversation to say anything you like, and there is no such thing as "off topic". I like being here. besiderself

I'm going to need some new clothes before the semester starts, but I usually shop online: much easier to find exactly what I want that way. besiderself

ORIGINAL: besiderself I'm going to need some new clothes before the semester starts, but I usually shop online: much easier to find exactly what I want that way. besiderself I'm so very leery of buying clothes online. How do you know they're really going to fit? I admit I have done it before, but I won't do it again. I've had bad experiences. Case in point: I once bought a pair of pants that I absolutely loved, and the size/length was perfect. So I went back and ordered another identical pair, in a different color. They were too short. When I examined them carefully, it turned out there was a style number or something on the tag that was different. And no, I had no option to order a particular "style number". Anyway, I stopped in Walmart today for some things and ended up buying a pair of shoes which I didn't need. But they were so cute! Pink plaid! I never do this! What's wrong with me? Well, for me its a little different. I've ordered and made the mistakes enough times I guess to know what I like, what fits, where to shop. I don't just google...I have very specific websites where I go--with my size and build there just aren't that many choices. And as far as clothes go, I know exactly what I need and what looks good on me, especially for work/school wear. I wear pretty much the same thing every day, just different colors/patterns. I try to catch these items on sale and stock up. Anyway, I know it's not for everybody, but it works very well for me as long as I don't start shopping too far out of my "box". LOL! I'm thinking of trying wearing jackets this year for a more professional look that is a little more versatile but still remaining comfortable. I often get dressed at 5:00 in the morning and wear the same thing driving, going to school, and teaching and possibly making a grocery store run or going to the gym or something before arriving home around 8:00 pm. So it's got to be sturdy, comfortable, and still look professional at the end of the day. besiderself

So if you can pull outfits together that can be both, that's the ticket!
