i'm not anti-packer (i often root for them) but his trouble seeing the field and the offseason drama are just ridiculous.

Agreed.

We cheeseheads are very loyal, but don't jerk us around. He's jerking us around. Talking about playing for minnesota (or detroit or chicago) is akin to heresy and treason rolled into one.

So lemme get this straight... Favre retires, but if on a whim he unretires the Packers then are contractually responsible for him? Sports contracts are indeed interesting beasties.

Hey I really like the guy, but he made the call to retire, he should stick with it. He had a great final season to go out on. Why mess it up trying to grab a last hurrah? (Besides, it would be so very wrong to see him play in anything but a Green Bay uniform.)

Still, I like the idea of someone paying me a million dollars or so not to do something.

Yep. The Packers own hiim until after the 2010 season when he contract would have expired. So if he plays, he either plays for them or they get to trade him to whomever THEY want to.

wooodiehoo!

hey, y'all...pray for my voice. we're recording again saturday, and it's all tight and scratchy and yucky. i'd appreciate it.

Hey, sunshine! Lots of salty potato chips chased with room temp water is what the singers here do. I am praying.

And water. Gallons and gallons of lukewarm water.

Hot tea and lemon. And honey. (shoot, I usually just eat the honey by the spoonful in those cases--- better than any throat lozenge).

And rest. Stop talking. Start typing

If it means anything coming from a BA-pursuing Vocal Music major

YES. ALL THAT.

Especially the last.

And when you warm up for Saturday, warm up very slowly, and very lightly.

Oh yeah...I've a degree in vocal music myself. When I had medication-enduced laryngitis when we recorded our last project, I drank a mix of lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. I also have a steroid nasal wash that helps in extreme cases.

When I used to travel with a band they swore by some nasty lozenge called Fisherman's Friend. No matter how bad they sounded prior to singing one of those would clear their voices up in minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the local sports guy said this is the second time he retired.

I wonder how many employers would take back an employee who retired twice. My old employer had a rule that if you left of your own will (quit or retired) you couldn't come back after a number of sales people used them as a convienient place to "work" between other jobs.

And the reason???? Because no voice wants to be subjected to that taste twice....

They still make them. They have that icky brown one, but they have other flavors too. There was one time I sang a concert with the group I sang with and if it hadn't been for Fisherman's Friend I wouldn't have had a voice at all.

My vocal chords are trashed. I lived in a place during grad school that had black (toxic) mold in it, and I'm allergic to mold. I lost my voice 4 times in a year - for over a week each time. It was horrible. Since then, no matter what happens, when I get sick, it goes to my voice, and I lose it - very easily. I've tried to go back to choir, but even singing for 30 minutes makes me hoarse. So, I've given up my days as a singer. I just praise God with the congregation.
