I have a problem here. Rebekah has very red and irritated skin on her inner thigh. She doesn't want to go pee because it hurts if it touches. I am having to help her with her pottying right now. I have her on acidophelous. She is getting baking soda baths every night. It is hot and humid here and her sweatiness is not helping. I have tried aloe and e lotion with no affect. I don't want to use diaper rash stuff because I have had bad experiences with those with my eldest when he was a baby and don't want to risk hurting her worse. Any ideas? VBS is coming up and I am getting concerned about her being able to be comfortable there as well. We rarely have ever dealt with "diaper rash" that didn't come from antibiotics or diareah. I am not very experienced with this.

Jenn,

Your mom sounds like the coolest mom ever. I mean, your mom was a store detective! Who else gets to say that? And I love the way she still takes care of you when you're sick and loves on you even as an adult with children of your own.

I would be jealous if I thought if would do any good, but it has never changed my personal circumstances yet so I gave up on jealousy long ago.

((((His)))) ((((ezri))))

Good news all. My daughter Sam is moving on with her life, not crying off and on every day over Michael. She even hung out with an old friend from home school drama last night. I wondered if she might be scouting out potential new romantic relationships, as he is a boy, so I was a little worried.

No problems though. They were with a large group of other home schoolers, and when I confessed my concerns, she laughed and told me he was not even a Christian, much less a mature Christian, so he doesn't even make the cut of potential boyfriends.

Two thoughts: "Yay! She has "mature Christian" as criteria for potential boyfriends!"

and

"He's not a Christian? His parents are!"

But no, based on their conversation the teen considers all religions equal, and he has decided that his cause is gonna be gay rights. He has even kissed a boy (or more?) to "see what all the fuss is about".

My son has lots of public schooled friends, and I am quite sure none of those boys are kissing other boys. Where did this home school friend find his control group?

Umm... not yet! Will it do the job if it isn't being kindof held there with her undies? The worst of her rash is on her inner thigh where the undies might rub.

If she can lay still for a few minutes and let it set it may help some.

It's what my FIL uses for chaffing/rashes in those areas and I've seen it mentioned around here more than a few times for problems in that area. I'd try it and see how/if it helps and if it doesn't think about a cream or something that can soothe it? I'd hate to say cortisone but it may help relieve pain and inflammation and get her more comfy. poor baby girl.

((((((Ez))))))) - praying for you all!!

Amy,
That is terrible if N is going to her father. I would get the story from your mother first to be sure.
I posted an update in the prayer thread - another case of my SIL being pessimistic & overreacting, but they do still need prayer!

(((((His)))))

Cindy - I'll keep your friend & her family in my prayers. How awful.

The rest of the week will be hot-close to 100. Yesterday was close to 100 and after going to the library show, the library to drop off our reading log and pick up our pass to the water park tomorrow night and then doing some grocery shopping, we were both spent.

Amy, I remember when we were in OK, we had to do everything early in the morning and then go and hide under the AC the rest of the day.
Maybe you all could get transferred to Selfridge.

Judy - That was actually Narnia, although our weather is very similar here! And I'm not sure the Marines would let my AF hubby be stationed at Selfridge (although stranger things have happened), but we'd take Wright-Patt in a heartbeat if they offered it!!!

I'm feeling good today. Less pain in my ear today! VBS went well last night. We had a couple who was working games with us & they got a call right before we were starting, all we heard was ambulance called, niece & pool! They took off very quickly! Luckily, there were plenty of adults & teen helpers around, so we had no problem covering their spots.

The bag- it is the second bag that is the SAME bag... she used the other one til it fell apart and was amazed wal-mart still carried the same Day pack bag. it is a small back pack she can put her bible, a paperback novel and a couple of steno pads in the body of it with ZERO wiggle room and her wallet and ID et al in a smaller zippered section on the front.

what Triss was wearing

front

back

the small backpack was black and grey and about 11" long by 9" wide and on her back - both straps in use. She was not messing with her bag at all. She was looking at the Christian Music CD's and the ONLY thing we can come up with that might'a made the clerk even look twice is that Triss found a Barlow Girl CD in an Avalon slot and she *Ahem* put it back where it belonged.

I know moving product around can be a sign. Aside from that standing on a row chatting about Christian music and what CD's you are going to put on your Christmas list this year... I guess they looked like a couple of Thugs. (Trillian was wearing this blouse and the same jeans as Triss. Her braid was twisted up and had a black chopstick through it. Dangerous weapon maybe???)

B
&
M
........... <WALK WAY THROUGH ELECTRONICS
...A

...C

I was on the DVD row near the center row in Electronics with the 4 boys
A= Triss C=Trill both on the row diagonal to me. I could see Triss from where I was standing (looking at the series and special movies John Adams by HBO- gotta do some research on that one before I buy it though... I don't trust the HBO name if you know what I mean)

So that's it- I have raised a couple of THUGS-

Oh! did I mention that Thug #1(Triss) was voted to have the Best Christian Character at VBS last night??? yes! and at a church we are visiting! The pastor taught the class and he said it was the first time EVER in the history of doing this(5 years) that a visitor has gotten the peer given honor. Her classmates said that it was because when one of the boys was hurt during rec early in the week they all stood there saying how they hoped he was alright and Triss said "Why don't we stop and pray for him."

I LOVE MY THUGS!

I unfortunately have a ton of experience with this.

Cornstarch is great, like Brandy said. I've had to use that in some chafing areas lately, with being pregnant and the heat...I usually don't have a problem at all!

I would not put lotion on it. It is probably irritating it more. If the pain is really bad, you can get a spray can of Dermoplast (in the first aid section at Kinney's). It's a spray on pain reliever with aloe, lanolin, and menthol.

Do you think the rash is becoming yeasty? Are their any small dots outside of the area that is red and rashy? If it is, you can use OTC woman's yeast infection cream on it.

Hannah also has another raging yeast infection and was put on Diflucan Monday. JUST today she is finally able to pee without it hurting and it is looking a lot better. Poor baby...but I think she'll be good by VBS. I was worried about that too.

No yeasty... Thankfully. Thanks for the advice. I wasn't too keen on using lotion anyway. I will hopefully have time to work with her today and keep it covered with cornstarch... as soon as I get some.

Michael Medved was talking about this. He said that they did a great job with it. He sounded surprised that they did so well. If you don't know who Michael Medved is, he is a conservative Jewish radio talk show host. He does movie reviews and is also a historian. An all around interesting and informed conservative. I was thinking of looking into this movie to find out how much it is. I trust Michael Medved's judgment on this, but he did not say if it was suitable for children or for teaching purposes.

Ez, It's hard to say why they singled out your kids. Maybe they recently had a meeting about how people are putting stuff in backpacks and they were on high alert.

I don't know if you have one, Lisa, but I keep my cornstarch in an empty parmesan cheese shaker. LOL It makes such a mess coming straight out of the box, so that was my solution.

I would not use cornstarch on something that may have yeast. I think it could make matters worse. Ellie-Mae, do you know the cause of the rash?

I wouldn't use cornstarch on yeast either, but she says it doesn't look yeasty.

Well, it is cool...unless you are out shopping with her and all of a sudden she is arresting some other customer, lol. She only stopped doing that fairly recently, due to the danger of it. When she was dating her last husband, I tried to warn him and she told him I was making it up! A few weeks later he walked through the door, shaking his head, mumbling, 'just shopping...we were just shopping...' LOL

She can also break boards. I did not know this until I was 12 and the neighbor boy was bragging that he could do this or that in karate and she said, 'Oh, I can break boards' and then she did so--on our sidewalk, in front of the entire neighborhood. It gave me a whole new respect for what she told me to do! LOL

Speaking of bragging martial arts kids...at the swim meet this morning, the kid Nate has been playing with at meets found out he was in Jujitsu, and was telling him that since our class only teaches self-defense, and not attacks, and we don't have tournaments, that he would be easy to beat. Nate said he was mistaken, but the child did not believe him, so he attacked him while they were playing frisbee. Indeed, he may have a new respect for Jujitsu now! LOL It took him and two of his friends to finally pin Nate to the ground. I was absolutely horrified when I turned to check on them and saw Nate tossing this child across the playground! I turned to his mom's friend and apologized and she said, well, the hospital is right across the street, and Zach probably started it, lol.

Yup, it worked! We always paint the name of our newest foreign exchange student on the wall of the bedroom they get to use while they're here.

Lovely picture, Shadow.

There was a baby shower for the daughter in law of one of our members today but I did not go. It's a diaper shower so I brought my gift last night to the mother in law.

It's close to 100 and I did not feel like sitting inside where it's hot and no air circulation.

In a while we will be leaving to go play at the water park. A free pass for two adults and two siblings was the prize for completing the reading program at the library. It should be fun-we've never been to this park before.

Mom still has to run it by Dad but he knows we are planning on going up sometime that week.

Who else is planning to be there? And When?

I know Donna. I think Cynthia and Hazel said they would be there?

Just popped in to ask you all to pray. We found out tonight that the niece of the couple we were working with did drown. She was 11 years old & all we know is it was a residential pool that hadn't been used & had green water in it. They are a really close knit family & this is hitting them all very hard, as you can imagine.

Things went well at VBS & I'm still feeling better (not 100%, but better)!
