The other thing I did that really brought relieve and was actually first performed by my chiropractor and then he instructed me how to do it, was to take my thumb and put it in my mouth at the base of the joint and take my first finger and put on the outside of my jaw at the joint and try and pinch them together in the same spot and pull your fingers down while they are still pinched together. This has also brought tremendous relief when my jaw feel tight. Hope it helps This is interesting. I'm going to keep that in mind. I haven't had any problems since my first post, but I may try the mouth guard if it happens again. Although the guard I use for hockey is bubble gum flavored and that might not be pleasant for all night.
